Hello everyone. My name is Novastorm, former host of the Monthly 600-word Writing Competition held here in the Fan Art section for the last couple years. If you look back in the previous threads, they are easy to find because they have poll in front of the thread name.
To make a long story short we were asked to move the Writing Comp to another site. It continues at the new site if you click on the big blue letters below in my signature. Please join in.

I should have mentioned that after Feb/Mar's Q+A with Simon I began the Transformers #81 Petition with other IDW forumite DecepticonsRule.

I love most eras of Transformers (excluding Unicron Trilogy cartoons mainly) but have always had an affinity with Simon's writing and the original Marvel stuff. I don't own it all or have even read it all, but it's special and now* is the right time for IDW to publish it.

* Now = any time from now to, say the end of 2012, gotta catch the audience soon

I'm ladywreck (ladyofwreck in some places)

I watched the G1 cartoon back in the day… LOVED IT. Gave it up for various reasons, parents turned the cable off, forbid me and brothers to watch those cartoons with violence… meh…

Fast forward to 2007 when the first movie hit which I instantly liked. And then 2009 I officially started looking online for a community that talked Transformers and suddenly I was surrounded by this whole fandom community I didn't even know existed. (It was also the year I started wanting to share childhood cartoons with my boys and TFs was one of them.)

TF fandom sucked me in. And I learned about how Transformers has survived since 1986 in tons of incarnations including these things called COMICS which I'd never picked up before. So I started getting my hands on the comics…

A year ago: I became a reviewer on the Moonbase2 podcast forum and ultimately started podcasting with them as well. I now co-host the Underbase which reviews the IDW TF comics, although we've also reviewed Marvel and Dreamwave stuff as well. (Also do written reviews on tformers.) Joined the IDW forum and I think the rest they say is history…

Now I help mod here. I love this fandom!!

I'm a fan of a majority of the writers, artists, colorists… some have had some really high moments, some have gotten there slowly and some have been around for longer than others… But without them we wouldn't have this awesome history of comic story and art. I try to be more constructive and positive as a rule of thumb. Life has sort of taught me karma works, I've seen a lot of people get there's over the years which has made me a believer in this… so take what you will from that.

Personal life, married, have two kids… when giant alien robots aren't ruling my mind, I try to write stories. And I seem to find my way to a few conventions. I also have this habit of interviewing comic creators…

Ladywreck is the name Kalelprime started calling me because when I started podcasting I was such a FAN of Last Stand of the Wreckers. I instantly liked it so much, well, I started going by that full time. I have to admit, I'm sort of obsessed with the Wreckers. Not sure why this is… maybe because… THEY. ARE. AWESOME!!

Sorry couldn't resist. Overlord made me do it...

I'm Omega Prime, the last Prime ever, I guess, if my name actually means anything. I'm obviously new here.

...That's about it.

Hi, I’m britesparc. I’m essentially a lurker who can occasionally muster up the bothered-ness to post something Wink

I’m British and therefore nothing will ever be as good as the Marvel UK series, particularly the Furman-Wildman era.

I like Transformers so much all the tables at my wedding were named after different bots.

I like: stories about marginal characters; multi-issue arcs; humans; space; dense mythology encompassing gods, aliens, and destiny; multiple character deaths.

I don’t like: the fact that the Transformers are supposed to be literally millions of years old; what I would refer to as Gundam-style character designs; movie-style character designs; characters coming back to life.

I can’t seem to get an image to work with my profile, otherwise I’d have added a nice little Bumblebee drawing that I did (for my wedding, natch).

Oh, and if I was feeling arrogant or vain, I would describe myself as a writer. And I really, REALLY want to write a Transformers comic for IDW. In fact, if anyone’s listening… Wink

Hello, my name is Ryan

I'm 35 and grew up with all of these great 80's properties of Transformers, G.I. Joe, Voltron, TMNT, Thundercats, M.A.S.K., etc.

Also a huge fan of Star Wars.

a friend of mine and myself were such fans that we started a podcast devoted to these franchises. We cover the ongoing comics of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Star Wars (soon to be adding reviews of TMNT once IDW starts that run). We also look back at past comics for all the various 80's properties. We talk about the cartoons and movies. We generally just have a lot of fun.

Check us out at www.starjoes.com (warning: we are an explicit podcast, so this is not one for the kiddies)

I'm ssg 4 life. My brother was more in to Transformers than me growing up. Got a G2 Seaspray for one of my birthdays and almost gave it to him. But I still have that little bugger to this day. Interest was really peaked during Beast Wars and I've been hooked completely since.

And I believe the Beast Wars comics are what started me here as a lurker and then I just decided to join once I started reading the G1 stuff. And now, of course, I'm hooked

Hi all, I'm Andy, as you see I'm new here. I've been a fan of Transformers ever since I can remember. Born in '81 in the UK (Liverpool). I was brought up on the Marvel UK Transformers Comics and the G1 cartoon. I'm a diehard Marvel UK fan and am delighted to see IDW reprinting them. I haven't read much from IDW, but will be giving All Hail Megatron, and the Ongoing series a shot (I read trades). The animated movie is the only Transformers movie in my eyes, live action didn't happen!

Growing up young in the '80s, I loved the original Generation 1 cartoon. I discovered Beast Wars years later and wanted to absolutely hate it; the idea of giant robots morphing into fur-covered mice or gorillas seemed asinine to me, whereas those same giant robots shrinking to the size of a handheld firearm was perfectly logical. Then I actually watched Beast Wars and really liked it.

Today I have an avid affection for the first season Autobots and Decepticons, and an irrational dismissal of everything after, including Hot Rod, Galvatron and the other characters from the original movie--despite the fact that I love that movie! Don't know why, but every character that came after the Dinobots and Constructicons respectively feels inauthentic. Can't explain it.

My top ten Autobots are (in order):
1. Prowl; 2. Optimus Prime; 3. Bumblebee; 4. Ironhide; 5. Jazz; 6. Trailbreaker; 7. Bluestreak; 8. Hound; 9. Ratchet; 10. Wheeljack

My top ten Decepticons are (in order):
1. Thundercracker; 2. Megatron; 3. Devastator; 4. Starscream; 5. Laserbeak; 6. Soundwave; 7. Rumble; 8. Skywarp; 9. Ravage; 10. Bombshell

For all its faults--which were numerous--I really enjoyed the 2007 Transformers movie. It had charm and heart, something that Dark of the Moon completely lacked.

I loved Transformers almost as much as I loved G.I. Joe, but while I collected 98% of the original Marvel G.I. Joe comics, I never got interested in Marvel's Transformers.
This is the only issue of the original run that I owned...

...and I swear, I don't think I ever read it.

Thus far I have read the first four volumes of Transformers: The IDW Collection and loved them. I've also read the first issue of "Heart of Darkness", which was only so-so, and the second issue of the "Bumblebee" mini-series, which intrigued me. I haven't read any of the ongoing series (yet), because I really want to know if it will be collected in hardcover before I start tracking down the back issues or trades.
