Actually, on those grounds it works well for Firefly to be a Ninja, he's the anti-Snake-Eyes (moreso then Storm Shadow, at least in that continuity). |
I agree 100%! 
The way things turned out in the marvel run, I feel this way. Especially with SS turning out to be a misunderstood good guy. |

Flint and Lady Jaye are a better couple than Scarlett and Snake-Eyes.
All vehicles not based on REAL hardware are stupid. Cobra vehicles in general are stupid and implausible, and should be repainted US/NATO/Soviet gear instead of dumb fantasy toys like the Hiss Tank or Stun cycle.

So kind of like NOD in Command and Conquer?
90% of their stuff is obviously real-world "best we can do with sod all resources" and "brought from the Ukraine in a job lot", like dune buggies with machine guns attached, but with the odd bit of "and here's where we spent all our money" super-tech like the Obelisk of Light.
In Cobra's case, the "here's where we spent all out cash" would be the iconic HISS, and everything else surplus Soviet stuff.
That works for me. It really does. After all, the arms they use are all real world or at least extrapolations of real world tech. |

I just want to add to the Andrew Wildman love,though admittingly I like his Transformers work better.
Spirit makes a much better opponent for Stormshadow than Snake-Eyes
The Battle Corps are the best figures from the origional line.
Star Brigade was great
While the G.I.Joe Extreme toys still sucked the toon was pretty good.
Sigma Six was great,the figures are still some of the best Joe toys period.
Joe Colton is overrated |

1)I hated the fake countries in ANY comic version of GI Joe; GI Joe should've been kept exclusively in the real world. Lots of novelists do that, among them Tom Clancy , Clive Cussler, Dale Brown & Dan Brown among others.
2) I never liked kid characters.
3)Lady Jaye as Head of Intel in the DDP run? Vanessa Leeds from Macross would've been more credible, ditto Margery Daw.
4)Snake Eyes' CIA past should've been revealed.
5)Alexander McCullen, Armada and The Greenshirts: Worst DDP comic idea ever.
6)Too many Ninjas in the Marvel run. Firefly as a Ninja?Right, and Lady J is a shoo in as Miss America.
7)General Phil Rey as a CLONE? NOOOO! I like General Rey!
8 )I hated DDP relying on the GI Joe cartoon. I think its a major reason Hasbro declared the DDP ru n disavowed.
9)Duke joining the team at "Hawk's request?" GI Joe Vol.2 #36 : Sure he did.
10)Too many sub units: Tiger Force & Battle Force 2000 are fine, but did GI J0E and Cobra really NEED Ninja Force, DEF & Eco Warriors?

That could still happen. Larry said he'd like to reveal Zartan's (REAL) Origin in ARAH (my fingers are still crossed!) so it's not impossible that he'd tackle Snake's CIA affiliations. We just need to keep reminding him

I want to thank Daniel for starting this thread. I have peeked at the TF boards and noticed their thread and thought this would be a great idea for our board. So far so good!
Everyone should know my opinions by know, but I will add them for fun:
1. Robert Atkins, SL Gallant, Alex Cal, Tom Feister, and Joe Benitez are the only artists that have depicted GI Joe in the way it should be.
2. Scarlett is the most over-rated female character in comics history.
3. Lady Jaye is better than Scarlett in every possible way.
4. The only readable issues in the main title are #0, #13, and #20-22.
5. The giant robots in the Marvel aren't really robots from outer space. They are simply man-made robots that malfunctioned and THINK they are robots from outer space.
6. Brandon Jerwa was the only good writer that was hired for DDP, not named Larry Hama, and wrote the only compelling stories of that entire run, that weren't written by Larry Hama.
7. DDP Reloaded was superior to both DDP ARAH and DDP AE.
8. The main title would have better sales if the MASS device was handled better and the storyline wasn't dragged out for 2 years.
9. Snake-Eyes cannot be over-used in a story.
10. Chuck Norris checks under his bed for Snake-Eyes.
11. Storm Shadow can defeat Snake-Eyes in a sword duel.
12. The Joes are an Army unit because if they were all Marines, they would have defeated COBRA and established world peace by issue 6 and Mr. Hama would have had nothing else to write about.
13. Renegades is the only decent Joe cartoon ever created.
14. Chuck Dixon is a much better writer when he doesn't include Star Trek sci-fi elements.
15. Costa is a better writer without Gage.
16. IDW ARAH #161 is the best Joe comic written/drawn since Marvel ARAH #155.
17. Slice and Dice are the best antagonists to Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow.
18. Doc is still alive.
19. Star Trek is unwatchable.
20. The Steelers will win Super Bowl XLV. |

I'm glad this caught on. In fact, I'm surprised it's still going strong on the Transformers board.
BTW, although most of you get the idea of the thread, I still see some common gripes. The point of the thread is to express opinions where you think the majority of the fandom will disagree with you. So if you feel most fans hate the MASS device, there's no need bringing it up in this thread.
