I could totally get behind this HdE, and it is always cool to hear new thoughts about said films. When they arrive, feel free to announce it and start a thread! Smile

And Mr. Mowry, if that's a not-too-subtle way of saying that, behind closed doors, secret talks are underway that could include Zilla in the comics, then I would also like to lend my support to the 'zilla verse's resident tuna head. After all, maybe we could get a real battle between he and the Big G (not that I feel Zilla would win, but it would be interesting).

"Zilla" is the name that Toho have decided to use to differentiate the american version from the Japanese. From now on, anytime you see Godzilla USA used outside of that movie and it's tie-ins, expect to see it referred to as Zilla.

I agree on opening a new thread for the monthly movie discussions or whatever. And if you have any difficulty getting your hands on a certain film, drop me a line and I can probably sort you out, even if it's only a lender.

Thanks for the heads up - I'd just found this out after doinga bit of Googling and Wiki-ing. I had no idea that version of Godzilla had endured in anybody's memory!

Cool beans - that thread'll happen. And cheers for the offer!

Cheers for the heads up! Although, to be honest, I've kinda burned my spending money for the foreseeable now.

Time and finances will dictate if I pick up any more of these movies - although I have to admit, I'm already tempted by that 7 movie compilation I saw...

I fully endorse the "Kaiju Watchers Club".

But imagine my dismay when I discover that I don't own Son Of... or ...Vs. The Smog Monster!

I knew I didn't own all the Millennium series, but I thought I'd got all the others in one form or another... I am ashamed.

Now that I think on it, I think I've only ever seen ...vs. The Smog Monster once. On late-night Channel Four. So that would be... 20+ years ago?

The most recent that Godzilla Vs Hedorah was aired on terrestrial television in the UK would have been around Christmas or the turn of the New Year in 1998. We got a whole bunch of films shown in the original Japanese dub which had either never been shown before, or had not been shown in my lifetime, to coincide with the release of GODZILLA (USA).

As for your two ommissions, if you still have the means to play VHS you can have my old copies.

W00t, done and done.

I was TV free in 1998 (first Uni year, I believe) and so chances of catching them pretty slim. Pretty sure we're talking 80's or early 90's at the very latest. Actually... yeah. Definitely before Manga brought out vs. Mothra and vs. King Ghidorah.

I'm wondering if this was around the same time that I got my initiation into all things rubber-suited and stompy?

I recall Channel 4 in the UK ran a season of Godzilla movies way back in the early '90s, I think. I could only have been about 11 or 12 years old at the time, and they were BRILLIANT fun!

This is why I feel the need to go back and revisit, and check out more recent offerings. There's a little hole in my life right now where I need some good natured, OTT silliness. And big monstahs.

Also booze. And loose women. But I'll settle for Godzilla movies for now.

Godzilla movies and booze go together so well, though. As for the loose women? Well, as soon as I can get the government to fund this vital for the future of mankind research, I'll phone in the results.

I'm making it a HARD RULE that all sessions of the IDW Kaiju watchers club MUST be attended with a six pack and a curry or Chinese takeaway. It is the law.

Unless, of course, anybody is under the legal age required for consumption of such. In which case, a bottle of pop is fine.

Is this seemly? Can I get a harrumph here?
