Now this kinda popped into my head.
He mentioned to lynch that he could use willow, but he had to supervise because the ''character meant so much to him''. I know he probably didnt intend it like this, but it seems to me that he has somewhat lost interest in angel and the characters - especially as he has never actually penned the comic himself, as he made sure to do with buffy. and even though in my humble opinion, Lynch's work on angel was far superior to Joss' on season 8 of buffy, it seemed more or less that Joss was there really only for his name value to add credence to the series.
does this comment mean that he is ok with others playing with angel with no supervision because they dont mean as much to him? (I believe this is unfair since in my opinion angel has always been better, but thats another argument).
I also noticed over the years, Joss seemed to have a lot less to do with angel than he did with buffy or firefly.
I believe I even recall recently david fury in an interview said joss originally hated the angel character and it was david greenwalt who pursuaded him to make the character work.
I dont know- am I the only one who feels that the angel series has kinda been neglected by joss over the years? I mean ironically, I think it's his best show (though given time firefly might have taken that honour but who knows now). am I just being paranoid? what do you think, fellow angel fans?
I do love Joss, but I also think a lot of his more mundane stuff gets a lot of love because of him being Joss (buffy season 8, I just dont understand the praise it's got since it started, and I have been following it since the start, and I really didnt like the dr horrible thing). Heck I even think his x men astonishing run had one or two duds in his run. I do love the guy but sometimes I feel like maybe I am the only one who notices when something not so positive happens with joss (I didn't like how he dropped charisma and was somewhat frosty to her because she got pregnant). |

It kind of makes sense.
Angel's still an IDW property, despite it being fairly successful and Buffy being rather successful for Dark Horse. Presumably it's like all the other franchises where it has to be re-negotiated every few years, so why not take it back? It's not as if Dark Horse couldn't cope with another title. |

Honestly dark horse's work was not great on angel...IDW has done a lot of amazing story archs already. Not all will be classics, but all have been at the very least decent, at best truly amazing stuff. |

Could somebody answer me this: Exactly what's going on with Firefly / Serenity comics right now? _________________ Check out my page on DA http://hde2009.deviantart.com/

| I don't think Joss hates Angel, but I do feel he favors Buffy so much more. I can understand that. As someone mentioned before, Joss only plotted ATF yet it was Lynch who made it work, amazingly. If Joss truly doesn't care about Angel then that's fine. Just pass the IP to great writers like Lynch and it will please fans. I also agree that ATF was far superior than Buffy s8. Season 8 turned into a complete mess. In my opinion, I don't even think Joss can save and resolve that season. Anyways, as long as the story and characters are written well then there won't be a problem with the Angel series. |

A series of "one-shots" and mini-series. "The Sheppard's Tale" for example and Sheppard Book. |

I really went off firefly because of the movie.
I thought it came off far too generic, a far cry from the greatness of the tv show.
the whole government being responsible for a big mess is kinda cliche now, right up there with painting the military as bad guys. I expected more. Not to mention it lacked focus on the best characters, namely jane and book. I just generally felt disappointment and that killed it for me, otherwise I might have followed the comics. |

I don't think Joss hates Angel, but he just loves Buffy more, a lot more. He was heavily involved in Season 5 of Angel and very sad to see it go, but now that he's so pressed for time, he has to make a choice, Buffy or Angel. And the feminist in him can't pick anyone other than Buffy. _________________

That's fair enough. But in my opinion, Angel has always been the best show of his creation. Firefly was somewhat tarnished by a generic movie that was not as unique as it was on television, and buffy was tarnished by two mediocre seasons and a comic that started mediocre and dipping into bad territory. I just hope it doesn't h appen to angel..the last two arcs were somewhat mediocre (again, not terrible, decent, but not great either). I hope the minis and spike series can stop the descent.
I really really wish they would forget buffy season 8 exists. |

I too like what IDW has done with the Angel series much better than Buffy Season 8. I think it is the fresh perspective from the IDW writers. Joss (and crew) have been writing these characters for a while with little break in between and I think that may have lead to being overly creative with the characters. Buffy had really grown by the end of the television series and at times in the comic book she seems a little too bubblegum for some one in her twenties. And things such as sleeping with a girl and then sending her out of the way to another country and robbing banks seemed way too OOC. Also why does Willow dress like she is going to a renaissance fair? It made sense in Once More with Feeling but just seems random in season 8. I hope Franco puts her in a nice pair of jeans when she appears in the Spike series. I'm not trying to diss Joss and I do enjoy some of the stories (such as the one shots) from season 8 but many things left me bewildered. That being said I do think Buffy can be saved if they tone down the theatrics in season 9. I like what Scott Allie said in his comicon interview about not have such a large arc for fans to get lost in. |

I guess it's better than the pointy hat and curly toed shoes. |

I think it would have only been deleted if you used abusive or offensive language. |
