Veiriti, I think this was just a joke... Though I agree it would be awesome news if it was true.

Not being a native speaker I'm not sensitive to such nuances in the use of the English language, but I can understand the annoyance. It reminds me a bit of Bram Stoker's Dracula novel, in which the supposedly Dutch Prof. van Helsing is shouting "Mein Gott" (= German) every other page. So, as Brian already pointed out, things could have been a lot worse
I hope I'll be able to get the issue later today too! |

| Got my copy ! Poor Jeremy. I thought the next time we would be seeing him would be at his wedding ! I enjoyed the issue- it sets up the story nicely. There's been many elements to bring together. Spike's taken on alot more than he thinks, what with W&H, John and Drusilla. Glad that he's got some reliable help. I've a feeling there's some big emotional punches going to be thrown at Spike very soon. |

So, it’s a joke, isn’t it???? Too bad it made me happy for while…
Yeah, just like you, DD, I'm not sensitive to such nuances in the English language… well of course Spike’s English accent sounds very different than the American in the show and Giles accent as well, but when I’m reading it I’m not able to see the difference. Well, of course I’ve learned some slang words which are Brit’s only like “bloody hell”, “wanker”, “bolloks”, “bugger” etc. Well, what can I say – Spike’s good teacher!
ETA:
I have got spoiler questions – is the issue cleared up who is John and what is he? And what about his comment “the bastard has my soul”?
Too bad to hear for Jeremy has been possessed – I love him. I hope Spike will help him somehow… _________________

No,we don't get any of those answers in this issue about John.I suspect they come next issue. |

Sorry to the one person that didn't like the word "frightfully". Truth is, Americans say it sometimes, and Spike hangs out with Americans, so he picked it up. Anyway, he says it the once, so it's okay. But be on the lookout for my new Dark Horse series SPIKE:I'M FRIGHTFULLY BACK, FRIGHTFULLY, next August. |
I seem to remember Giles was given dialog that used the world. As far the the continuity - mainly it just read like a wink/joke at Buffy Season 8, same as the Beck "It's a trap" which is what Buffy tells Twangel in the "Twilight LaLaLand" morning after.
Hope BL is not going to try and do any "romance" in this series - Spike needs so major alone time, and that includes the ladies. Drusilla on the scene will be very interesting, it will be interesting to see what treatment he does. |
What's wrong with romance? |

Read the issue and enjoyed it very much. The art is, as always, just wonderful.
I hope Spike can save Jeremy. _________________ Aargh! 'Shippers! There goes the neighbourhood. |

How wonderful to get two great comics on the same day! I got Spike #2 tonight and unsurprisingly, I loved it. I was only a bit disappointed that part of the issue was done by another artist than Franco Urru. Not that I disliked the work by Nicola Zanni -- I did like it -- but nobody can top Urru (in my opinion) and I had been looking forward to seeing his art on each and every page.
John remains a mystery; at first I thought maybe Spike had slaughtered his family but then it seemed like it was John himself who was the killer. And could "Jeremy's" mention of soul stealing have been a reference to John?
I thought the "Save the cheerleader" shirt that we saw in the preview was funnier than the "Laid not slayed" ones. On the other hand, we've already had plenty of S8 jokes (in both Spike comics so far, as well as in the Illyria one) and at some point, enough is enough.
I loved the panther rug in the new White Room!
And of course Groo and Cordy swooping in to save the day. (Or Spike, at least.) |

Great issue. It was nice to see Jeremy again(and it was a neat idea for someone to be controlling him). And this John guy seems like an interesting villain for Spike. He also seems pretty crazy, so him and Dru being together makes sense.
Favorite thing that Spike said in this issue: "We need to fill the bathtub so George has a place to sleep."
I can't wait till the next issue comes out. _________________ I rather read a good non-canon story, then a bad canon story.

This is the thing I liked least about the issue, to be honest. I don't like all this messing around with Spike's soul, and I just want it cleared up that the one he has - that he fought to get back -is 100% his own. _________________ Aargh! 'Shippers! There goes the neighbourhood. |

Well Brian has said it is Spike's own soul, hasn't he? But I reread the issue this morning and I really wondered about John's words to Spike as he was about to kill him, "I just want to know it was in good hands." Did he mean his (Spike's or John's...??) soul by "it"? If so he's still talking as if Spike somehow got his (John's) soul and not his own back... |

Can't remember if it's in this thread or not, but both Brian and I have said that John is crazy and elaborated on this story point to allay concerns. So, take what John says with the most massive grain of salt you can. :} The reality is, stories that revolve around souls are kind of essential to both Angel and Spike. So that's why it comes up. You can trust Brian to treat this character with the utmost respect, promise. |

Thanks for the reassurances, Mariah. Personally I don't mind story lines about Spike's soul, but I wouldn't like it if his soul turned out not to be his own. And John does make it sound very much like that's the case. But yeah, it's clear the guy is a madman and cannot be trusted in any way.
And now for something slightly different: I noticed that the bottle "Jeremy" opens in the White Suite is shaped like a Madeira bottle. I'm thinking that's not a coincidence. |

I appreciate the reassurance too, Mariah. I guess I'm just particularly sensitive on this issue after what happened in the Angel comic. _________________ Aargh! 'Shippers! There goes the neighbourhood. |
