Hi.

I wanted to have a thread up, if there wasn't already, where people could post up, discuss and compare their various original characters - at least, the ones they have seen fit to unveil fiction-wise to this point.

I have a couple of characters of my own I could mention, but before I did I wanted to see if the concept of a thread like this was of interest to anyone.

(One thought I had was for a list which could be updated in this post, which could link to particular posts where people would have bios and/or art for their particular character/s. However, if I were to do that, I'd probably ask each person to have just the one post they use - and update - for this kind of data, while still using the thread proper to talk about their own, or other people's, OCs.)

So, any takers?

Sure, I'll bite!

I had an idea for an OC that mainly stemmed from a desire to make my 1974 TA22 Celica into a 'bot. Had a small poll on my DA acc to decide his name, and I decided to use 'Slideout', which I think Mr.van Reyk suggested.

Initial idea: http://kurisama.deviantart.com/art/CelicaBot-71846250

First seen in: http://kurisama.deviantart.com/art/Autobot-Frontier-102738960 (far right, Razz)

Bot mode: http://kurisama.deviantart.com/art/Cybertronian-Celicabot-91547248

Alt mode: http://kurisama.deviantart.com/art/Cybertronian-Celicabot-AltMode-91643687 (Damn that's ugly)

He's WAAAAAAAAAY overdue for a make-over. Just haven't had the time. I have made a new sleek 74'-inspired-Celica-Cybertronian mode - which you'll all see soon, but not how u might expect Very Happy

I imagine he's a scout type sneaky dude, hand-to-hand kinda guy, but preferring weapons like sniper rifles and assault rifle. Meh, a nerd can dream. Also - ppl say he looks like Drift (which in my eyes ain't a bad thing) but I think Slideout made his debut first. Anyone care to find that out?

Discuss away...

Yay!

I'll edit this page later, to add at least one guy I'm currently trying to convert from another setting - but there's at least this guy to start off with.

EDIT: The second guy is on there, too.

Quote:
H'trorren (Earth name: Étienne Seonac de Champlain)

Faction:
Autobot
Sub-Faction: Pretender
Rank: Field Agent
Motto: “On on n’oublions jamais.”

Details:
Possesses a human-form Pretender shell (as seen in Masterforce). Like other such Pretenders, he is capable of forming a 'battle mode' around his human shell in combat, and can revert to his original Cybertronic form, and back, at will.

His alternate mode is a Cybertronic interstellar craft, one more tailored to exploration than flat-out warfare. (This looks like Titanium Jetfire, only with green instead of red. His biomech form has a retractable faceplate, shown extended on the figure, which when retracted shows a more human-like face with a nose, mouth, a pair of 'eye' optics, and whatnot. Oh, and without the landing-gear 'wardrobe malfuction' of the actual figure...)

The systems required to permit (limited) transwarp travel, coupled with the enhanced scanning and processing equipment he carries on board, keep his agility in flight mode at a relatively low level, as well as placing a cap on the kind of firepower he may come equipped with. He has twin nose-mounted low-calibre ion cannons available to use in flight mode, and can also equip the two parts of his plasma rifle externally. Thus, he is less effective than some in a straight-up dogfight, though is more capable when given a ground assault, interception or anti-starship role - but is most effective when able to use his on-board systems to co-ordinate a wider operation.

His wrist-mounted modules may be detached and combined with backpack to form a smaller jet craft - which may be piloted remotely, flown manually by another person, or by Étienne himself in Pretender form (should he choose not to re-integrate the modules before demolecularisation). While the remaining chassis could, technically, assume an alt mode by itself... Étienne tries not to use that option overly much.

In bio-mech mode, H'trorren is armed with a twin-barrelled medium-calibre plasma rifle and an energo-sword. The plasma rifle, capable of firing pulses of superheated energy at a target, may separate and be attached to his flight mode, and used in tandem with the craft's on-board cannons. A human-scale plasma rifle and energo-sword complement his Pretender form.

Bio:

If anyone asked him now about who and what he was, Étienne Seonac de Champlain would give his Earth name (even in biomech form) and describe himself as an Autobot Pretender – a Cybertronian disguised at a sub-molecular level in the body of a human-form Pretender shell – and a field agent assigned to Japan in general, and most recently to the troubled city of Fuyuki-shi.

But it was not always so.

Étienne was ‘born’ as the wholly bio-mechanical H’trorren 1200 years ago in New Iacon, one of the more recent generations to emerge in the new era to emerge in the wake of the Great Shutdown.

Raised in a Cybertron which was, at the time, united under the rule of Shockwave and the Council, his formative years were peaceful ones – yet the (apparent) lack of interest in exploration, or in trying to track down those groups which were known to have taken the Great War with them into the wider galaxy, chafed at the inquisitive H’trorren.

Fortunately for him, he was contacted secretly by representatives of the legendary Countdown – who had made a covert return to Cybertron, unwilling to risk revealing himself openly to Shockwave’s ‘unified’ government – and invited to join the crew of his interstellar operations craft.

Leaving Cybertron behind, he served what was, in effect, his first turn of duty under Countdown’s command – exploring hitherto-unknown sectors of space, making layovers at friendly and allied worlds such as Paradron and (more recently) Nebulos, and engaging the forces of the cunning Skystalker in defence of indigenous species unable to fend the would-be Decepticon tyrant alone.

However, his place among Countdown’s crew would come to an end during the tempestuous events of 2005. Responding to the emergency signal broadcast when Unicron attacked, Countdown’s vessel emerged from transwarp into the Alpha Centauri A system – where they were too late to take part in the engagement. By the time they approached Cybertron itself, the battle was over, but the terrible cost extracted was all too evident. After spending several weeks helping to recover Autobots and Decepticons left drifting in orbit, H’trorren approached Countdown with a transfer request – to go to the one world in this region of the galaxy where he felt he was needed most of all…

…Earth.

Countdown contacted Metalhawk – who not long before had made formal contact with the Autobots who had been active on Earth since 1984, taking his team of Pretenders back to the fold – and arranged for H’trorren to be transferred, as one of a new batch of volunteers who were to be added to Metalhawk’s team in Japan.

However, when the transfer took place, an unforeseen error in his navigation system caused him to crash-land in the Burren, Co. Clare, Ireland – where his tragic first encounter with humanity took place.

Now, he lives on Earth in the guise of a French-Canadian expatriate in Japan, the inheritor of the genetic profile of an Irish youth whose life he could not save, but whose memory he swore to honour. To that end, he tries each day to live up to his lost friend’s dying request:

“If I can’t live in this brave new world of yours… live it for the both of us.”

Only time will tell if he is successful.

Quote:
Aoyama Mitsuomi (Earth name; Cybertronic name unknown)

Faction:
Decepticon
Sub-Faction: Pretender
Rank: Field Agent
Motto: “ My quest... is to find what lies beyond the sword.”

Details: Possesses a human-form Pretender shell (as seen in Masterforce). Like other such Pretenders, he is capable of forming a 'battle mode' around his human shell in combat, and can revert to his original Cybertronic form, and back, at will.
Mitsuomi's alternate mode is a Cybertronic aerospace fighter craft, optimised for speed, stealth and agility, at the expense of heavy ranged firepower. Indeed, though equipped with a relatively low-powered particle blaster - a side-effect of the directive common to the underlining code found in the protoform type used at the time of his creation - Mitsuomi, in accordance to his strict code, makes a point of never using even that.

Instead, the wings, which may detach to form a double-bladed energo-falchion in bio-mech form, can be activated as energo-weapons while still in his alternate mode. Also, he possesses an energy shield, mounted on his left forearm as a bio-mech. The shield, which has a 180-degree forward-facing arc, is tailored to work against ranged fire, and has no effect on melée weapons.

Thus, it is intended to permit Mitsuomi the opportunity to close the range against an opponent, at which point he would deactivate the shield and engage his foe in close quarters. To facilitate this, the shield mounts four short, extendable, energo-cutters - though only the shield or cutters may be active at the same time, not both. Mitsuomi may also choose to activate the shield and/or cutters while in flight mode, as demonstrated here.

In human form, he is armed with a custom-made dai-sho (An energo-nodachi and an energo-wakizashi he himself forged) and is highly skilled in their use – though his relative lack of practice in this form, relative to the centuries’ worth of training spent training as a bio-mechanoid prior to his arrival at Earth, mean he has much time to spend before he can hone his skills in this form to the same practiced degree.

With this, regardless of the nature of the engagement, he may attempt to face an opponent in some kind of melée combat, as the honour code of Metallikato demands.

Strength: 07
Intelligence: 08
Speed: 08
Endurance: 06
Rank: 07
Courage: 09
Firepower: 05
Skill: 10

Bio:

As a human, Mitsuomi is polite, considerate, softly-spoken, yet somewhat removed from others, more often than not. Some may see this as a sign that he is simply a loner, and that would be an easy conclusion to reach - but in truth, he is merely waiting to find the kind of persons with whom he may be able to reach a deeper form of mutual understanding.

Or so it may seem.

To his former Decepticon colleagues, the being now known as Mitsuomi had been something of an enigma. He is slow to answer questions over his past, careful to avoid giving away much of the reasoning behind his highly unorthodox code of martial conduct, and while he can be quite keen on learning of hitherto-unknown pieces of information - especially if they verge on the mystic - he can be somewhat withdrawn from many of his more literal-minded colleagues.

Mitsuomi - his Cybertronian name is classified - was created less than a thousand years ago, on one of the worlds formerly under the sway of the once-mighty Decepticon Empire. Little is known about his activities there prior to his first encounter with the ruthless, ambitious and resourceful Skystalker. The latter had left the worn-out homeworld behind a long time ago, and had focussed his energies on bringing 'lesser' alien worlds to heel.

In Skystalker's service, Mitsuomi fought in many campaigns of conquest, alternating between subterfuge, sabotage and all-out combat, against the indigenous peoples of the worlds in question. However, these operations were routinely opposed, and often thwarted, by a team of Autobots led by the legendary Countdown - which, during the time Mitsuomi spent as an operative in recent centuries, included the likes of H’trorren among their ranks.

For much of this time, Mitsuomi was content with accepting the xenophobic, expansionist and ruthless policies of the Empire, cutting down his opponents without mercy - though he was no indiscriminate killer. He gradually chafed at the less honourable tactics used by some of his compatriots, and began to question how far his commanding officer was willing to accept these kinds of behaviour.

Perhaps the matter was postponed, if not tacked, in part through Mitsuomi’s personal quest, which kept him a step apart from his fellows, and consumed most of the leave which Skystalker felt willing to grant. Almost uniquely among Cybertronians, he was a student of the bushido-esque mystic art of Metallikato - which stressed personal honour, skill with a blade, and the personal quest to unlock the unknown planes of existence which lie beyond even the superior senses of a Cybertronian. When not in pursuit of what lay ‘beyond the sword’, as it were, he acted as if to set his own personal principles into practices, whether this served as an example to others or not.

If asked by a superior, he would give these twin lines of reasoning – and for much of his existence, would have said as much to himself.

And yet...

The horrific assault on Cybertron in 2005 - when a dark and terrible being of Entropy came within a hair's breadth of destroying the entire planet - gutted the Empire. With the collapse of Decepticon hegemony on the home world, coupled with the catastrophic logistical and personnel losses in the face of the Chaos Bringer, the infrastructure which had held the Empire together crumbled almost overnight. World after world rose in revolt, or was abandoned voluntarily, as the few scattered survivors fled to the lonely strongholds that remained.

Mitsuomi had seen his works cast to the wind, as worlds he had helped conquer were now free once again. Even on the world he was created on, the once-mighty Decepticon fortress was replaced by a lake-filled crater, in mute testament to his kind’s great folly.

He had seen the true depth of darkness that lay beyond the mundane - and saw it vanquished by the power and light which lay at the core of the Cybertronic race.

Further, he had questioned the honour of his 'comrades' too many times to continue setting the issue of loyalties to one side.

So, when Skystalker, seeking to pick up some of the pieces left behind after the Collapse, saw the need to deploy a field agent to Earth – a prize long denied the Decepticons, set to become more important than ever in this post-Collapse era - he quickly volunteered. He had been hoping the integration of a Pretender form might help him find his answers... only to discover that his new life has served to accelerate the process of re-consideration, opening up more questions than he could have imagined.

He is all too aware of the stark punishments meted out to those who renounce the Decepticon cause, though this impediment is perhaps less pressing to him than the sheer stubbornness that has kept him less than wholly ready to cast his sworn beliefs aside just yet, to sever the thin filament still connecting him to the fallen Empire.

Even so, the time may be approaching when he will be obliged to make a decision – between hollow loyalties or high treason - and to face whatever consequences may ensue.

Spike: An echnida. Instead of hair he has quills. The majority of his body is silver, with brown fading through to tan to white colouration (ie continuing his beast mode colours).

Cosmos: A technoganic turtle. Like Rattrap he has wheels rather then feet, and a "helmet" that looks like a turtle's skull that flips down as a "combat mask". He's mostly blue, but green shows through in "stress points" like laughter lines, green fingers and blue hands, a shell motif across his shoulders and back. Bright blue eyes.

Ghostlight: Seeker design, mostly brown, with silver "fins" (a la Thundercracker), with blue hands and face.

Gosh, I've got tonnes I want to use in my own fiction, which I've set in the IDW'verse, but here's just three of them (I'm re-learning to draw at the moment- when I've got a bit more practise I'm gonna try picturing them):

Spearhead: a senior officer in the Autobot army who is of the notion that Prime needs to either step down or be relieved of his command after the debacle that was the Autobots getting their afts handed to them. He transforms into a tank with a double-barreled cannon and was conceived primarily as someone who could go toe-to-toe with the Decepticons' big-hitters.

Quicktrick: a younger bot who always had a lot of potential for officer material, but who was held back by the fact that he takes an awful lot of risks in combat- the more astronomical the odds, the more he wants to do it. Quicktrick also has an interest in illusional magic, being very good at making energon chips seemingly disappear, then reappear from behind your audio sensor. He turns into a car of some form.

Deadeye: one of the Conflictacons and the team's marksman. A highly efficient killer with a sense of superiority and an anal professionalism and pride in his 'work'- he won't take a shot with his custom-built, obsessively-maintained rifle unless he's absolutely sure he'll get a kill. Usually he's good enough to, but sometimes this lets his target escape. He transforms into a stealth bomber and (will at some point) forms the right arm of Annihilus.

Cool idea for a thread - I'm sure most TF fan artists have made up at least one character at some point!

Here's one of mine - he's called Blackstuff and is the mascot of an Irish Transformers forum I'm on

Looking good so far - though as an Irishman who doesn't actually drink, I'm not sure if Blackstuff would be a good mascot for me!

By the way, I was wondering - does the Spearhead shown here have anything to do with the one in Draven's Transformers: Redemption series?

I only have three TF OCs since normally I'm not a really big fan of them in general. I created them for my collection to give the G1 Decepticons some nasty femmes under the command of Nightbird. I call them the Furies, a trio of deadly, and rather unstable femmes. They include:

Discord— the smallest, a complete nut job. Think Harley Quinn as a Decepticon (she's the black and neon green one).

Malice— she doesn't like to kill. Not because of any sense of mercy, she just hates to see her victims' suffering to end—ever. She is a sadist in its purest form. She's black and red

Ferocity— the big berserker. She is unbridled rage and destruction personified. She's primarily orange.

In that case, have a look!

(And check the end credits, to see where the characters are from.)

EDIT: I've edited my earlier post to include a second character - one who I had initially created for an RP a while back (a Shattered Glass version of which I still use in a related RP) but was somewhat concerned about using, given some parallels with a certain controversial character published more recently.

But, still.

(A shame I would be hard-pressed to use the same Pretender form in the story he'll be going into, though.)

Hmm, OCs. It's funny that someone should start a thread asking about them since I recently did a news feature over on dA about fanfics starring non-Mary Sue OCs. Check 'em out.
