Mark Lutz posted his tribute to Andy from the Lorne comic on his blog.

Amazing, he really did seem like an exceptional humanbeing.

From the sound of it, Andy was Lorne. Everything we love about Lorne was Andy. Shame.

Hi, everyone--

Just a quick note to say that I'm happy you liked the issue. I think John Byrne did a great job on the story -- and that last image of Lorne, the joy on his face is so palpable that it really helped me feel better about this issue as a celebration and not a maudlin thing. It's been a year since Andy's passing now, and I know that's still very soon but somehow this issue worked for me on many levels in that regard. Hopefully it does a small part of turning the sadness over Andy's passing into more joyful remembrance of him and the work he did.

The real strength of the issue for me came from Mark Lutz, though. Mark was really amazing, in putting together that back material and all the photos. I know it wasn't an easy thing for him to do -- especially writing up a good, heartfelt essay that he was willing to share with the world like he did. So I just wanted to mention one more time how much I appreciate him doing that, and that I appreciate all the support from you as well.

IDW shines again, Mr Ryall. Honestly.

Just read this. It was good. Aside from the art which was lacking, it was well written. Lorne's voice was good, as was Groo's, but Angel and Illyria were a bit off. However, they weren't the focus of this story and don't matter much.

Good to see Lorne saving the day. Shame on Angel, though. He keeps trying to sacrifice himself to save the world but people just wn't let him. Very Happy

Few funny bits. Angel fighting that giant pink demon. Eating souls of children is so much scarier if the demon doesn't look like a giant pokemon. Wink

Vampires are willing to fight Illyria but the mention of Angel and they leg it. Funny.

Angel vamping out to fight Illyria when she throws him across the room. Since when is Angel that quick to anger?? Just made me laugh. Don't know why.

Anyway, on the whole it was very good. Those villains were good as well. Nice concept.

On the whole a job well done by IDW and a fitting tribute to one of the best out there.

David Boreanaz remembers Andy.

This is from a new interview with David Boreanaz about next week's 100th episode of Bones which he's directing.

Quote:
I apologize that this isn’t a Bones question, but today is the first anniversary of Andy Hallet’s (Lorne on Angel) death. I was wondering if you had any reminiscence of him.

D. Boreanaz - Yes, Andy was – thanks for telling me that, I didn’t know that – a great spirit, a great person who brought a great character to a Joss Whedon universe. When I found the news, I gave his parents a phone call and just wanted to pass on my condolences and recognize his talent as what he brought to the table for that show. It’s always a shame when a great spirit like that, a great talent, is taken from the world. Nobody wants to hear that news, and if you’re close enough to that person, it was obviously a big shock when it happened. God will rest his soul, and that’s really all I have to say about that

Very nice comments from David.

I've always had DB down as a sort of "This was my life and this is my life" kinda guy. You know, when he is finished with something he forgets it, moves on and cuts ties, not that there is anything intrinsically wrong with that. Hes never seemed like he would be the sort who would keep in touch with old friends. So its nice to see that he had this to say, and to hear that he phoned AH's parents. Very nice.

Again, though, from what has been said about AH, it would be difficult for anyone who knew him not to be bothered by it.

JV ... I can see why you'd think that about DB, but I think he's more the 'this is my life and I'm not sharing it all with fans' kind of guy. Right after Andy passed Mark Lutz talked about DB and how he was in touch and offered to help in any way he could. DB just doesn't talk about that himself ... unless asked a direct question. There are pics of him and Eliza, Ally, Alexis and Nick Brendan at events and they seem very friendly. There are also a few stories about how DB, Nick and Ally played pranks on each other on the FOX lot when Nick was doing Kitchen Confidential and Ally was on HIMYM and DB on Bones. (I read about the pranks in an interview with Ally and Nick) So I think the friendships remain ... even if we don't hear too much about them ... He seems to be just a private kind of guy.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I wasn't knocking the guy or anything. I've seen a lot of videos of him when they're not filming, on Buffy and Angel and he always comes across as a funny, fun loving kinda guy. It's just I've heard rumours that when he's been interviewed about Angel, after it ended, he has been visibly irate and has not seemed all that interested in it, wanting to move the discussion to his movies or Bones. Can't blame him really. And yes, he probably is private. You're right. Pretty private and reserved myself so strange I didn't recognise it. Or maybe we private reserved types really do come across in a bad way to others, as I've been told. Hmm, I need to think about some things here.

Nice to hear he tried to help Mark Lutz. Very generous. Probably should have known he was like that really cos of the way Christian Kane talks about him. And the Ally and Nick Brendan stuff. But I kinda expected that with NB cos of the way he was with him on that MTV Buffy Special thing a few years back, in the golden years of Buffy. He seemed to be having a right laugh with NB and CC. He seems to get on with all of Angel's enemies. Xander, Spike, Lindsey (his best friend). Wink

I read it on the train coming home from Brissy the other day.
I had tears in my eyes by Northgate.

I loved it. It was a perfect ending for Lorne, and as a tribute to Andy it clearly "played to his talents" should it have been a TV episode.

Oh, I didn't think you were knocking him JV ... I just wanted to add that info to the thread. And as to him not wanting to discuss Angel ... I did hear that he would get ticked off if he was promoting Bones (or another of his projects) and people asked him about Angel. He was out there taking interviews for another project and it's understandable that he wouldn't want to talk about past projects. Maybe he could be a little more diplomatic but my impression is that he's also a 'what you see is what you get' kind of guy. I have seen video interviews where he was taking questions from fans and they asked him about Angel and he was always nice to them and answered the questions without an attitude. So I think in his mind there may be a difference between discussing Angel with the media while promoting another project and answering fan questions. jmo ...

Oh ... and I may not have been clear ... David called Andy's parents and offered help ... and Mark Lutz talked about it and about what a great guy he (David) was to go out of his way to try to help.
