Apparently Andrew Steven Harris has done an interview in the latest Star Trek Magazine (cant get first hand information myself for a few weeks as its not printed in the US and comes out in the UK weeks after the US, grrrr), as Keith R.A. DeCandido explains it on a recent TrekBBS post Andrew announced four of the featured species; Klingons, Tholians, Betazoids and Ferengi. And the writers; KRAD, Andrew, the Tiptons, James Patrick and Mike W. Barr.
KRADs issue is the Klingons (surprise surprise) and is titled "Four Thousand Throats..." _________________ Numerically challenged drone

Hey Dan, might you be the secret sixth writer? Ages ago just after you scurried off to go all freelancy I recall Andrew saying he had you pencilled in to do a spotlight... _________________ Numerically challenged drone

I'm surprised they're doing Klingons since they had a Klingon mini-series. But I'm all for it.
I think it'd be cool if they did a Dominion or Breen issue, but I guess they're too DS9 oriented for them to do right now.
But to keep in line with TNG, it'd be sweet if they did a Q issue. That'd be a lot of fun. _________________ "Let us make sure, that history never forgets the name...Enterprise."--Captain Picard |

Spotlight: Tholians interest me the most.
(although, is there's 6 issues, and only four aliens listed so far, then I'm holding out for some Denobulan action personally). _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

Me too on the Tholians and Denobulans - though I don't imagine the TOS/TNG license would stretch to the latter. _________________ Numerically challenged drone

Ahh, true. Also ruling out the Xindi.
What I'd LIKE to see is a bit of a Temporal Cold War story. _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

Hope the Tholians will be like featured in Vanguard, I really liked the ideas there. And Denobulans would be cool too, but maybe not ENT-Era but more TNG or so _________________ 'Play with friends, be a Hero!'

Yay Denobulans and Xindi! Tholians, in any era, would be cool too. _________________

Maybe they finally tell us something from the Invasion of the Hurq in the Klingon Empire over 2000 years ago, that would be really cool (in my opinion it would be a good idea to shed some more light on the distant past or amybe also on the years directly after the First Contact). _________________ 'Play with friends, be a Hero!'

As a HUGE Deanna Troi fan, I'm delighted to see the Betazoids getting some spotlight! They've definitely been very neglected as a race in canon. We've gotten to see Deanna and Lwaxana, but very little about their *race*, just those individuals. As opposed to, say, the Ferengi, which DS9 treated wonderfully and we have a very good idea of what their race in general is like, not just specific individuals. So I'm really hoping the Betazoids issue can give some of that to the race.
I think Vulcans and Romulans, like Klingons, are a major enough race that they could definitely stand second visits in upcoming Alien Spotlights. Especially since I'd like to see a Vulcan issue that *isn't* about Spock. I'd LOVE to see some Saavik! I also would very much like to see something about Spock's family...Sybok, Sarek, Amanda and Perrin. First meetings, reactions to "Unification", etc etc.
I'd also like to find out more about the TAS characters' races. They're a blank slate for me. |

WELL wasn't Betazed attacked during the Dominion War?
Maybe the Betazed story could be circa Spotlight: Borg and have Riker and Troi (ie the human we've been told has a great understanding of their culture, and a member of that culture) helping organise the rebuilding (and dealing with a faction of "pro-isolationist/pro-tradtion troublemakers). _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |
