1) How do trade paperback sales compare to single comic sales?
2) Do trade paperbacks sell well enough to make up for the decline in sales for single comics? _________________ I hereby allow the above post to be printed.

Are there any Transformers characters or concepts that you would love to see worked into the main continuity but have found too difficult or impossible to do so?
Was there any editorial conflict over whether to have Megatron transform and shrink into a gun? Or are such decisions left up to Simon's judgement?
Has Hasbro entertained the idea of a Transformers line based on IDW's redesigns? Or are the Classics toys the closest thing we'll get? _________________ Andrew Griffith

I can help answer that. IDW trades have done exceptionally well in regular book stores.
IDW had two TF books in Bookscan's 2007 top 750 list, which is an amazing achievement. Sales were about 26000 copies each I think? On movie prequel trade, and the movie trade I think? as the other. Double the book's monthly single issue sales. Amazing. And that doesnt cover all bookstores, nor Diamond's sales. (So you can probably add on another 10k, just for North America)

Another question: You've confirmed two E.J Su Spotlights but please could you give some indication of the levels of life-giving Su-Rays we'll be exposed to during the run of All Hail Megatron? _________________ --Your imagery is derivative and lacks semiotic cohesion.--

I know that this will most likely be overlooked since it's too early for them to spill the beans, but here goes regardless:
Will the new TF:Animated original comics be more kid-centric like DC's animated comics publishing line, or are you looking to give this series a more serious tone? |

Since the (relatively) unimagineable has occurred - with a Wheelie Spotlight - Can we finally have a Scamper Spotlight? Or at least a cameo? Pleeeease?
Also, not really questions, but I think it's be great to have more Origin minis and maybe some 'team' related minis (like spotlight, but more than one issue and, er, with a team).
Finally, who is your favourite Aquaspeeder and why?
(You don't have to answer that one...) |

#288 - 8463 copies - TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE - ORCI ROBERTO - IDW PUBLISHING - $17.99 - $152,249.37
#322 - 7987 copies - TRANSFORMERS MOVIE PREQUEL - FURMAN SIMON - IDW PUBLISHING - $19.99 - $159,660.13
However, the movie TPBs were an abbaration, as they had FAR wider distribution and (if only by osmosis) promotion than your average TPB. (Here, HMV - a DVD/music shop - had a significant number of movie & prequel TPBs. HMV doesn't *carry* TPBs...) |

I know its not (yet) in this continuity, but the original War Within seems like it covers that pretty well. _________________ September 17, 1984. MTME Part I. The world changed forever.

Yeah, but I'm curious about IDW continuity. War Within was Dreamwave, right? _________________ Andrew Griffith

right. And WW2 (Dark Ages) and 3 (Age of Wrath) wouldn't fit in IDW's continuity (e.g., they had combiners). But WW potentially could. Its Furman's definitive take on Prime's origins. Can't see him doing another one. Perhaps a different writer -- but then we'd probably hear mass complaints. _________________ September 17, 1984. MTME Part I. The world changed forever.

Disagree -- it's a thin rehash of the Hot Rod "here's the matrix, get a free upgrade, now deal with it" origin.
Prime gets character and leadership progression in State Games, What's In A Name, Flames Of Boltax, Surrender, And There Shall Come A Leader, etc. and rises quickly through the ranks on merit. Not all of the stories were by Furman, but he was the person tying those threads together.
I'd rather have the Autobots as a society that rewards soldiers who're good at their jobs than one dealing in prophecy and chosen ones. _________________
