Recently the very strange idea came to me. I'd like to draw X-men as if they were Transformers... But I'm kind stuck with their alternate modes...

For now I have only few ideas...

Xavier will transform into Vector Sigma-like computer, Cyclonus will be the laser gun, Emma Frost will be tuned up sport car (as it is known that she has done a lot of platic surgery in the past) and she will aim and fire Cyclonus, Angel will be triple changer and he will transform into luxury sedane and small business jet, Gambit will be a motorcylce, Jubelee will be a yellow Bug similar to Bumblebee, Storm will be some meteorologic aircraft, Psylock will be some Japanese sport car, Quicksilver will be something like racing car and... I'm completely lost with the others... Any suggestions on alternate modes for Rogue, Wolverine,Shadowcat, Collosus, Beast, Nightcrawler and Iceman? And what about bad guys?

Wolverine's gotta be a jeep. He had a jeep in the animated series, and a vehicle in the toybiz line:

And check this out, Freestyle did a Wolvie homage too:

I'll see if I can think up some others today.

Lobo also did the wolvering repaint, but extended the idea (with inspiration from Deathwind_13) by repainting Landmine into Colossus. I suppose that might be modded into a combine or something, since he's a farmer...
I think Psylocke should be a British car, by the way, like a Jaguar. How about a midnight blue E-Type?

Thanks for the link! I was thinking of something like Jeep too, but wasn't sure Smile

And as for Psylocke... I know she was a British girl once, but now she's a ninja in Asian body so I thought some Japanese car would be more accurate and recognizable... No?

Maybe Psylocke should be a Japanese car that has a BMW engine under the hood?

Actually there's a comic that Marvel published that is about that precisely which is named Megamorphs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Megamorphs. Here you've a sample from one of its covers http://www.newsarama.com/Marvel/megamorphs/megamorph1.jpg (: . And they transformed into vehicles too.

Thanks for links! I'm aware of Megamorphs. I've seen the toys in stores, never bought them though...I didn't like the design. But as far as I know Megamorphs are something like battle suits for heroes and villains and not living transforming robots itself...

Pretty much. And I think the only X-Man was Wolverine, and his mech turned into a jet. There's also the Shape Shifters to take into account, I suppose, at least as inspiration. Memory serves, Wolverine turns into a wolf, Sabretooth is some form of tiger, and Apocalypse is a gatling gun. Punisher and Iron Man also turn into weapons (Pun is a pistol and Shell-Head's an axe).
So what are you thinking here, Babe? Basically Transformers, but with the personalities and abilities of the X-Men? Have you got any kind of a plot idea?

Yes, they would be Transforming X-men Smile Something like What if X-men were not human but transformers, just without this "mutant" stuff, because all transformers have some special abilities, so they just will be a heroic group Smile

As for plot idea, I don't know, really... I'm not good at plotting. I thought of some alternate universe where transformers live on the Cybertron in peace (so the Great War never happened and so transformers aren't divided into autobots and decepticons) and they have their own superheroes and supervillains... And they read books and watch movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, some detective movies like Starsky and Hutch or Sherlock Holmes and even soap operas (yeah, I know that sounds crazy!).

As far as I know, in all Transformers books or cartoons their peaceful culture was poorly explored so I wondered what is their fashon, what is their music, what movies they could watch and what books they could read... I don't think that that entire culture could be based on warfare only. And as transformers are living creatures with free will and desires, they just must have some peaceful culture! And eventually I got that idea:) By the way, the glimpse of Cybertronian day-to-day life was the best part of Megarton Origins to me Smile

I just can't write long stories so I leave it this way - just overall idea behind series of pictures and nothing more. But if you are interested you are welcome to use this idea as you please:) I would love to read the story or to see some pictures (or even fan-comics, but I think it’s just too much to ask) about that!

Definitely an interesting idea.
Basically like a super-heroic Earth, but populated with Cybertronian-type robots instead of humans. That could well be worth developing...

For the record, I don't think Cybertron has much of a culture outside warfare, simply because it's so all-encompassing. It's not just a local affair, where life potters on as usual everywhere else, it's totally global. And it's been going on for so long, I'm not sure many TFs can remember what it was like before the war.
Matter of fact, some TFs' tech specs refer to the fact (like Pipes, who's fascinated by our disposable lifestyle, and Eject, with his love for team sports).

I'm glad that you liked the idea:)

As for culture and war... I understand that the war took the most of their lifetime, but as a historian by education and I can surely tell that war doesn't mean the elimination of culture (at least when we speak about humans). Contrariwise, at war time we have a big deal of war songs and poetry and novels and even movies! As a most part of it was patriotic, there are a lot of poetry and songs about friendship and love. And even some comedy stuff exist! Yes, a lot of culture items get destroyed at war and people don't go to theatres etc, but the culture still exist, only it takes another direction - to inspire soldiers to fight, and people in the rear to work harder, to grief lost friends and families. to show the sorrow for parting with beloved ones and he hope of happy reunion... And to speak about Ancient Rome, they were engaged in unstoppable wars, and we can't tell that they didn't have a culture Smile Of course, maybe transformers are not as creative as humans, but I love them too much to say something so derogatory about them:)

I remember some references to distant past culture in 80's cartoon. Episode "War dawn" showed us that transformers fancy dancing fembots and sports Smile But it is not much to reconstruct the whole culture... So I decided to create some alternate universe without that war. And then I just thought, why not the superheroic? I love X-men too, so I decided to merge my two loves into one Smile

Thanks for suggestion! I've never watched the show but I googled for pictures and I think that I could use some elements of his design:)

Look at the links that the Duke and I posted at the top of the thread. Both of those are of Cyb. Overhaul (or GF Jackshot) painted as Wolverine...
