After reading the replies here, I'm not sure anymore! Laughing

lol! My offer is serious and stands. I'll post it to you if you change your mind.

Bring it on BC, let us have it.

Er, us? What do you mean?

I was telling GeO if he can't find a copy of Dark Horizons 1, he can have my copy.

Maybe he thought that when you said "post it" you were gonna scan the comic and post the pictures? I've got him addicted to scans methinks Wink.

I'm gonna try my local shop's older issue bins first Beachcomber but seriously, thanks for the offer and I might just take you up on it if I can't find it Cool. But is it really that bad that you'd be willing to ditch it?

Not sure. Didn't care for it much myself. Didn't pick up #2.

Highlight for me was Prime vs. Bludgeon though. Cosmos was nice too.

I'm just incapable of giving a flick about GI Joe I think.

My review:
Issue 1:
Characters:
Human:
Hawk, Firewall, GI Joe Colton, Flint, some reporter chicky, Destro, some other chicky working for Destro, Doctor Mindbender, The Original GI Joe Atomic Man, some Himilayan bloke.
Cobralalalalalalalalalalala:
Golobus, the chap with wings, that creepy chick with the eyes, loads of those Imperial Guards blokes.

Transformers:
Prime, Hot Rod, Cosmos (YEAH BABY!!!), Eject, Prowl, Sideswipe, Skids (poor bugger), The Pretender Monsters (minus the gargoyle bloke), Bludgeon.

Plot in short:
Stuff happens. Hawk has nightmares. Cosmos is cool. Some other stuff happens. Prime and Bludgeon fight.

Plot in slighty more detail:
29 years ago the original GI Joe Colton was in Tibet for some reason, along with some fellow with metal arms. He gets attacked by Chinese Jets, and later Cobra-La troopers. He's locked up for the next 29 years. Poor blighter.

Hawk is having Matrix enduced nightmares. Becuase Unicron is coming to chow down on Earth.

Hawk has gone "rogue" and is working with Prowl, Skids, Cosmos, Sideswipe and Eject to trackdown Transformer Tech on Earth (ie Cobra Destro's Snakes). He summons Prime to Earth and he Prime and Flint go off to Tibet to seek answers.

Ohh and they're attacked by Bludgeon and some Cobra-La fellows.

It turns out that Unicron came to Earth aeons ago, but was frightened off (yes you read that right, Frightened) by the Cobra-La metal eating spores. He made a deal with them and now he's coming back to collect
.

Quote of the Day:
Flint: "Not only do they yoddle, but they're bullet proof as well"

Art: Umm, is it heresy to say that Wildman's art is not that good? Because it isn't that good.

Highlights: Cosmos saving Firewall and talking to the bloke who was going to buy arms from Destro. Prime and Bludgeon duking it out. Unicron flincing.

Lowlights: Many of the fights look wrong somehow.

The final thought: The plot was interesting, I rather liked Eject interacting with Firewall. And I like it how Hawk is having trouble dealing with his conscionce after events in Art of War. Unicron getting a totally different back story is a nice change (and no monkey men or Eldricth Gods to be seen).

Issue 2:
Cast:
Humans (it's their story after all): Hawk, Flint, Joe Colton, Firewall, General Flagg, Snake-Eyes, Lady Jayne, the "Arctic Response Team", Hawk's missus/girlfriend.

Autobots: Prime, Cosmos (hero time baby, YEAH!!!!), Prowl, Skids, Eject, Sideswipe.

Cons: Bludgeon, the Pretender monsters AND MONSTRUCTOR!

Other: Golobus, Pythona, Mindbender, The Nemesis Enforcer, a load of Yeti, more Imperial Guard, a crowd of Cobra-Lalalalalala civies, Unicron, Battle Beasts (hahaha, nice touch).

Plot in Short:
More stuff happens, there are a few fights, some corny dialogue and that's about it. Everyone's happy in the end. Unless they're dead, of course.

More complex plot:
He's hhheeerrreee, Unicron rocks up and jams communication, supposedly.
Somehow the Gi Joe Arctic Team can use radios still. Ahh never mind.
Prime and Bludgeon fight and have a wee morality dicsussion, and Bludgeon manages to trump Prime's morality by commiting suicide. Nicely done.
the original Gi Joe doesn't like Flint's attitude. Bully for him. Ohh and he can talk Yeti.
The other Gi Joe sends the Arctic Team to Tibet to deal with the signal summoning Unicron (how did the US get permission from China to do THAT?). Who face off against Monstructor. Who is promptly taken down by the Laser Team (boo.... cussing.gif ).
Prime, Hawk and the first Gi Joe fight the forces of Cobra-La. And it's a wonderful battle IMO.
Eventually Cosmos transports a sent of the metal eating spores into Unicron's brain and Flint detonates them, lobotomising Unicron. And not a Matrix in sight. Fantastic thumb.gif

Quote of the Day: Prime "I'm Optmius Prime, and I am more then enough to beat you" I expected him to say "bitch" as well.

Art: Meh. Still not as good as that of IDW.

Highlights: Prime versus Bludgeon. Cosmos inside Unicron. Gi Joe versus the Nemesis Enforcer. Hawk and his bit of totty. Monstructor using his powers.

Lowlight: Art. Plot. The fact Monstructor was taken down soo easily. And still the fights don't look good, altough they DO look better here then last issue. The fact that Hawk's Matrix powers were built up in issue 1 and totally forgotten in issue 2.

The Final Thought: Artistically it's not as good as Art of War. But I enjoyed it, it's pure "popcorn" escapism.

It was enjoyable. But very rushed and finished off way too quickly.
They attempted too much in too little a story arc.
Cosmos was a fun addition. Would have liked the autobots the Pretender monsters slagged actually remained Slagged. I mean these guys are supposed to be Mentalists.

I like the fact they forgot about Hawks Powers for the second half entirely.

I'm still waiting for something along the lines of the WWII crossover these guys had.

It seems that this concept of two 80's mega toy lines are forever entertwined, and I'm still waiting for someone to do a decent story arc for them.

This one was dull, to say the least. I wish I didn't even pick it up. The story was dull, at best. The only thing that made me pick it up was to see some Wildman art again; the art was good, but I would have been better off saving some $$ by reading War Within II.

The Art of War was better. The first three issues were pretty good, and I thought that the last issue was good as well. Issue 4, on the other hand, just didn't seem to work for me. Oh well.

Volume II just sucked, except for the issue when Ratchet was the last Autobot.

Volume I was probably the best work put out by DDP for the concept. Solid all around.

I won't get into my rants about the old Marvel run, especially when BB get "killed". What did he say when he died? EEEEEEEEEEEEEKKK!

I do wish that DW had released more for their second series. I had such high hopes for that story arc, but I suppose the remainder of that plot will go unseen Crying or Very sad

I didn't even bother to read the second one after reading the first one. I felt blah, I felt totally left like this was a waste of time. There's nothing to it, it got thrown together just for the sake of releasing something. The Art of War was their peak and it wasn't dramatic enough considering Unicron is in Earth's orbit...come on.

And Furman had him go "scrippy" when Death's Head shot him.

I think Devils Due doesn't write good TF stories.

I think having the Matrix select Hawk as a person how can open the Matrix is a dumb idea.

And having Serpentor as the son of Megetron is dumb to. Who is his mom, Lady Jay!?

I can write stories better than that and I'm not even story teller!
