They were a dream--one page comics written and drawn by the fans for the fans; an exploration of stories untold and unrealized. Be they focused on heroic Autobots or evil Decepticons, on their homeworld of Cybertron, or on our own planet Earth. They are The Transformers, and these are the Mosaics!
I blame Ultra Computron for that, his comment about Chris believing in the dream reminded me of the intro bit in some of the original Marvel comics Still, it's a very valid comment, Thanks Chris!

While I haven't gotten Devastation #2 yet, I must say it is awsome that IDW would even consider printing fan-work in it's comics. Mosaic gives everyone kind of a connection to the fiction, how anyone can write or draw anything, and it will strike a cord in someone.
So thanks to IDW for supporting Mosaic's, and thanks again to the guys who run Mosaic for opening it up to all transformer fans. _________________

Kudos Mr Ryall & Co.
And to all of the talented peeps that make this fandom something else.
And Drivaar, I know it's early days, but it's Comic Book Guy Time...
"Best. Mosaic. Ever."
(Ironic it was one of the earliest, but yeah, it's superb - it inspired a generation! lol) _________________ *All my nonsense tapped out here is okay to print*

Well, credit where credit's due to Linda McCormack's story - all I did was adapt it to strip form, and give it pretty visuals. _________________ My Portfolio: http://www.kriscarter.co.uk

Ryall rocks. Seeing 'Rain' in the back of Devastation #2 and knowing what's yet to come, yeah I'd say a thank you is in order . The fact he's a genuinely cool guy and not an ass-hat just makes it all that much sweeter. F*#k all those who say 'it doesn't work', I didn't see any of those peeps get sh*t all credit in the movie DVD, not for nuthin'. IDW is all about the fans and they put it in print for ALL to see. It does work . _________________ okay to print - PSN ID Paradron_Bomb

What doesn't work? Who got credit in the movie DVD?
Is 'It Doesn't Work' an I.D.W. gag from some DC fanboy or somethin? I used to like IBM - 'It's Being Mended', ah techie injokes, how I love thee...
IDW is indeed about the fans. On that score I am heavily impressed. And that's in any sphere you care to mention, no other company I've had any kind of dealing with in any field has such a good customer rapport. Double Plus Good to the San Diego boys. _________________ *All my nonsense tapped out here is okay to print*

It's from DM.Net, the unofficial TF movie news site. I should note as a disclaimer that not everyone there is of the 'it doesn't work' mentality, some people just bark louder than others.
To this day almost any thread there that mentions IDW gets tagged with that lil' euphemism by either Don or some lemming trying to suck up. When Ryall was genuine enough to come online and talk about people being underwhelmed by the BW sourcebook issue #1, some there took that as a sign of weakness and started with the "I told you IDW stands for it doesn't work". Like the movie never fudged anything up (*cough* Brawl/Devastator *cough*) . More recently a couple people were actually rolling their eyes at IDW printing fan stuff (the mosaics) as if it somehow dilutes the product.
Ludicrous.
So what if IDW gives a little back to the fans through a shout out in the back of their product, be it a lettercol or mosaic page or whatever? I think that's great. By comparison the "it doesn't work" types over there didn't get props, even in passing, on the DVD. Actually, the only time you really heard about the online fans on the DVD was if Bay was talking about them protesting outside the wrong office or Shia telling the 25 G1 fans out there on the net (his words) to basically get a life. The stooges wanted their own mosaic, this big poster of them up on Sam's wall in the movie, but it didn't happen. Hell, Lorenzo DiBonaventura is all over the extras even though the Stooges hate him and he didn't even want Cullen as Prime in the first place! IDW as a TF affiliate on the other hand just has better spokespeople (such as Ryall) and gives out better fan service imo whether it be tracking down the Budianskys and Perlins of the world to publishing the mosaics.
Props where props are due. _________________ okay to print - PSN ID Paradron_Bomb

Arrh, Don "I'm the god of Transformers" Murphy and his blind stooges who believe his every word.
Anyway, well done to all involved. I hope to see some more in future comics. _________________ Okay to print. |
