It's because the text coding for the shades smiley is the digit "8" followed by a "close parenthesis" mark. You'd typed the digit instead of typing out the word "eight," and it was at the end of the bit you'd put in parentheses, so the ")" immediately followed your "8" and created Mr. Shades. |
Oh, I see. So in order to be able to type 8 instead of 'eight' I have to avoid parentheses? Hopefully I can remember that. _________________ Aargh! 'Shippers! There goes the neighbourhood. |

I kinda like it to be Connor. Would be a nice symmetry here, with Burge and his offspring. On the other hand, that place looked like Angel's office, which would mean it being in W&H (and was Burge trying to nick that lamp or what? ) And I can't see how Connor can just wonder there by chance - I assume he and Angel are not in touch, otherwise Angel wouldn't say he's alone with a very large dragon. But maybe it's not W&H but some other Angel's hideout.
But still Connor would make poetic sense there. Speculations, speculations...
Also - yes, of course that person who faded into background must be Gwen. I guess it's just a case of Gwen-denial for me as she's the only character in AtS I can't stand. Just a personal quirk, nothing to see, please move along. And maybe the comics will change my opinion. |
Gwen? Where? I must have missed something. Will go back and have another look.
Somehow I don't think that person saying 'is there a problem?' will turn out to be Connor. I think that page we've already seen must be the first panel Connor is in (a sort of big-reveal, splash-page type thing) and this 'is there a problem?' remark does sound like the sort of thing that gets said just before a big reveal but the two things don't go together (ie, the words and the picture of Connor's big reveal) so I'm guessing this panel comes just before someone else's. _________________ Aargh! Okay, Nata. Had another look at the new page and can't see anyone fading into the background. What am I missing?
Also, of course the 'is there a problem?' could be being said by a Wolfram & Hart employee. Is Angel stuck with yet another liaison with the Senior Partners? _________________ Aargh! 'Shippers! There goes the neighbourhood. |

Oops, sorry for the confusion. I was replying to the remark in the interview, which said that there's a person who faded into background on the show but who is back for the comics. I thought the reviewer was talking about Connor, but other folks pointed out it must be Gwen. And I agreed.
And yes, that 'is there a problem' remark could be asked by W&H employee. Could it be Harmony?! _________________ Say it quick and say it loud: I'm a geek and I am proud! |

IDW president Ted Adams discusses '30 Days of Night' and other successes for the comic publisher.
If you want to read the article the link is http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=133109
But the main Angel comment is
"We just got the pre-orders for our first Angel comic and its IDW's best-selling comic of all time. "

OMG! that's great news. Derf pointed out on Whedonesque that IDW's first Transformers comic sold 45,468 copies according to ICv2, so maybe its around thr 50000 mark. That would be great! _________________ Personally...I kinda wanna slay the dragon...Let's go to work!

Oh, I see. So in order to be able to type 8 instead of 'eight' I have to avoid parentheses? Hopefully I can remember that. |
You can make it work by leaving a space after the 8, like this:
(season 8 )
Congratulations to IDW on the Angel comic pre-order success! |

Or just tick the "Disable Smilies in this post" box, then you can have as many 8) 8) 8)s as you like.
And if you want to add an emoticon, you copy the address of the image and paste it in using the IMG tags, either from this board's collection or any you find elsewhere.
But seriously, major "Yay!"s at the record sales. Between that HUGE boost, the Star Trek and the upcoming Doctor Who comics, and the 30 Days of Night movie and the Transformers movie(s?) hopefully bosting sales of those titles even higher, IDW could really establish themselves as a major publisher. I bet Dark Horse is kicking themselves for letting the Angel rights slip away. IDW's done wonders with the title so far, so very much more than DH ever did. |

Yes, IDW really gave Angel, and all the characters from AtS a boost in the arm, and put the work in to release comics to showcase each of them. DH was letting them languish in the wilderness before IDW took over the titles. They really showed how much could be done with the title.
I almost wish that DH had let the Buffy title slip as well, before Joss came on board. I would've loved to see what IDW could have done with that title as well. _________________ I Really Hate.....Official Cannon |
