| Issue #3 hits stores today. It's a fun story, with art by Gordon Purcell. Hope you enjoy it. |

I bought the issue today. I flipped through it and it looks phenomenal. Can't wait to read it! I'll be back online later to post my thoughts.
By the way, is the THE David Tischman? I've been enjoying the series so far and this looks to be the best one yet. _________________

Gordon Purcell is one of my favorites Trek artists ever, since his work at DC Comics Star Trek books in the 90s. His art is truly beatiful.
This issue is a must-have ! I loved the previews.

I agree the art was very good, the likenesses where spot on and the characters actually had detail and texture to their skin *gasp*. And I'm happy to see the four wide rectangles per page layout being broken a bit more often in this issue. I've found the constant desire to stick to it somewhat annoying and restrictive before.
I found the story interesting, but a bit choppy. Like the first issue of the series it sort of waddled along until all of a sudden in the last handful of pages everything is explained. It did feel a lot like an episode of TOS, and I liked the appearance of M'Ress. On pages 16-18, the guy with the brown hair, si that meant to be Kyle?
Oh and I really liked the use of "soundeffects" in this one, we always lots of wurrrr and taks, I liked the aliens "Skreeehhhh-ahhhhk!" line.
And just to not seem out of character, no title again! grrr.
The peview/advert/cover for the next issue looks good, I'm looking forward to seeing a TOS take on reality TV. Actually that was something I missed in this issue, the previous ones have drawn upon real world issues, if this one did I missed what was referenced.

Beautiful art. Pretty solid issue, however like 8of5 mentioned above it did seem like the story was wrapped up very suddenly and quickly. I still love the "1 and done" format but adding a few more pages may help the stories out greatly.
David Tischman once again NAILS the characters personalities through dialogue--especially Spock. The guest art was magnificent and Joe Corroney delivered yet ANOTHER beautiful cover. _________________

I'd love more pages, but I don't think they are required to successfully fit a story in one book. IDW, and publishers before, have done plenty of great Trek comics in such a limited space, the Early Voyages comics were all 22 pagers for example. I think the problem is a combination of Mr Tischman's "Trek lite" writing style and, in the case of this miniseries, the strict adherence to the four widescreens per page, irrespective of the impact that has on making numerous frames full of nearly nothing. _________________ Numerically challenged drone

Just noticed, how come the stardate for this one is down in the 4000's, the preceeding issues were in the 6000s. _________________ Numerically challenged drone

I think there's a little blurb on the inside front cover (or is it the back?) mentioning something about the stardates being not entirely accurate. _________________

It's normally on the letters page (which this one didn't have, think that means it's going to be in Alien Spotlight now?) But that doesn't excuse them being internally inconsistent. _________________ Numerically challenged drone

| i can't wait to get the issue. I sure hope IDW gets Gordon Purcell back for more artwork. He is the best trek artist there is. Its nice to see some newer fans see his work. If you thought Gordon's art was good, you really need to track down some of his older DC comics work. Great stuff there too. |

I remember I used to be a DC Comics Star Trek junkie. Back in '89-90 all I read were Star Trek and Batman comics. _________________

Yeah, we're big fans here of Gordon as well! He'll be doing issue #6 for us to wrap up the series -- so enjoy. _________________ Andrew Steven Harris |

Yep -- I was just checking out some of his new art today, with colors by Len O'Grady. Some nice looking stuff!
