What order of preference would you place them? If I've asked this before, just laugh and ignore me.
Mine:
Hama's arah, of course.
Costa's cobra (probably the best written joe book I've ever read)
Dixon's g.i. Joe (if read in chunks as the reads are so short)
Dixon's snake-eyes (I really don't enjoy this title, as much. Snake-eyes is overexposed and I just can't get into helix but I don't know why)
Once I sat down and read civil war and cobra command, I really became interested in the new universe. The bad guys and girls really are bad. And finally, krake is my favorite c.c. in any continuity. My usual complaint, however, still hasn't changed, gi joe and snake-eyes are way too light on scripting and plotting. I would love more personal moments where we get to know the character. Just a little more conversational scripting and plots that progress enough to be worth the four bucks but that is another post. Oh, and use cal anytime you need to, he's my fave next to sl gallant. Thanks for sticking with the books! Now, where's mad monk? _________________ Thank-you IDW for supporting G.I. Joe: the revamp and ARAH. Here's to forty-nine years of adventure! |

Here is my ranking:
1. ARAH
2. COBRA
3. Snake Eyes
4. Main
ARAH and COBRA are pretty much 1a and 1b. While Costa currently is doing a better job than Mr. Hama, ARAH gets the nod because Shannon's art is sooooooooooooo much better than Fuso's. It really is a shame that such a well written book is saddled down with a stylistic artist that just doesn't have the skill to portray an action scene properly. COBRA would easily be the best selling title if IDW would allow Robert to take his talents to South Beach......errrrr I mean to the COBRA title. IDW's best writer (sorry Mr. Hama) and best artist (sorry Shannon) would be AMAZING. Do it, IDW. Do it now.
To be honest, I've lost interest in both Snake Eyes and the main title. Snake Eyes doesn't interest me mainly because I don't like how Dixon has handled the characters, especially Mary Sue and Storm Shadow. I try not to compare the characters between ARAH and IDW, but in Storm Shadow's case, being my favorite character, I can't help it. I didn't read the first volume of the main title so I'm not sure how much Storm Shadow was used there, but from what I've read since the start of CCW to now, he is just a lackluster character to this point.
As for the main title, the current storyline is dull and I am afraid that Dixon is going to introduce another stupid over-the-top sci-fi plot device. Mining for a rare mineral just screams something ridiculous like the Weather Dominator or maybe worse. |

I used to enjoy participating in threads like this, but I haven't bought the main title since the last issue of Cobra Command and I haven't bought Cobra since the issue when Hawk reads the letter from Chuckles. I've been more or less keeping up on both these titles though, thru previews and comments here on the board. That way I won't be too lost when I decide to come back - and I'm sure I'll be back, I just want a break for now.
I would have dropped SE too, but I'll keep getting it for as long as Atkins is on the book.
But lately nothing from any G.I. Joe title has been blowing me away There's been some fun stuff, but nothing amazing. Thankfully I've started collecting some other titles in the last couple of months that I'm absolutely loving. This week's Batman #11 and TF#81 have kept my love for comics flying high. _________________ 30 Years of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero! 1982 - 2012 |

| Cobra to me is head and shoulders above all the other three put together. It's not that the others are bad. It's just that Cobra is my favorite version of Joe ever created. |
