|
|
Please keep spoilers about the latest issues in the dedicated threads. Don't drop hints in other threads, or start threads with titles that strongly hint as to what happened.
This forum doesn't support invisible text, but the effect can be simulated but changing the font color to white inside a quote box, like so.
| Quote: | | Highlight to read: spoilers go here. |
This should be used sparingly, if you've got a back-and-forth discussion going on in that format, it's best to take it to a spoiler thread.
If you wish to start a new thread to discuss a spoilery topic that might be too much of a tangent to include in the main thread, the thread title must be VERY VAGUE. Don't say the name of the character who died, or even that someone did die, or that a character made a surprise appearance. _________________ Cattleprod's guide to upcoming releases.

And if I may? Please keep them out of sigs as well. The quotes may be minor, but there are those of us who try to go into each issue totally blind.
Thank you for this thread. _________________

If I might ask, what's the standard accepted period before spoilers are no longer spoilers? A week? Or a month? _________________

I think a week's reasonable, though I'm open to suggestion. _________________

I'm not sure as to what the accepted time period should be, so I've left it vague for now. I'm amending the first post with an explanation for how to use quote boxes to simulate inviso-text. _________________ Cattleprod's guide to upcoming releases.

I'd suggest "until the trade comes out", although that makes certain discussions difficult... _________________

Could just try not mentioning current/recent plot developments in any thread outside of the one's dedicated to discussing them. And if it becomes necessary, inviso-quoting them, as Cattleprod called it. _________________

I think a lot of folks don't get the issues until the first weekend after release, so those first 4 or 5 days you would hope everything would stay inside spoiler threads.
After another week or so, I'd be fine enough with details starting to slip in to threads but again, be careful with titles / footer sigs etc.
By the time we're getting ready for the next issue, for me anything's fair game...
Sorry trades only dudes, but it's a monthly business really! _________________ *All my nonsense tapped out here is okay to print*

My personal approach to spoilers has been to treat them as such for about a month's time after the publication of an issue. If for some reason I were to pop them into another thread I would try to forewarn in some way (I like the white-on-white text Cattleprod gave us).
For whatever it's worth |

THIS.
I've kinda made my peace with the fact that, being as friendly as I am with certain regulars and being trades-only, certain things are going to be revealed to me ahead of time. In fact, there hasn't been a book since AHM where I wasn't broadly told the sequence of events in a book literally months before I read it.
I do try to avoid threads where I know stuff will be revealed, but even so, some details still creep out. _________________ Check out my page on DA http://hde2009.deviantart.com/

Fair enough.
Ive amended my sig. I think we can all try and not to say something we shouldnt outside the spoiler threads. I have ofen known a long time before I read something whats going to happen but I accept that going on here. You take that chance. But I will keep spoilers to a specific thread.
Going to be hard starting new topics though. Unless they are very generic threads.
But Ill try not to ruin anything on anyone. _________________

Respectfully...
The whole point of this is, people have had MAJOR details of the books spoiled for them even after making an effort NOT to look into threads where they would expect to see them.
All anyone's being asked to do is exercise a little consideration, and to post appropriately.
If people want to use this board to catch up on news, follow creators and just talk Transformers, I'd suggest that they should be able to do it without having their enjoyment of the books spoiled in this way.
I'll add that I think it's quite understandable how some folks' enthusiasm and excitement over what they're reading sometimes cause them to lose sight of that. There's been a few flubs, is all. _________________ Check out my page on DA http://hde2009.deviantart.com/

Understandable. I just feel its an impossibility with the above outlines. Be "very vague". Your asking for problems with that. That will end up causing more backlash about this than you can imagine.
We are going to end up with topics like:
Specific Plot Point Discussion Issue 8 Spoilers
It may just be me, but I find this forum becoming more and more restricted on a regular basis. _________________
