It had very graphic depictions of the Keeper aliens slaughtering humans in very grisly ways. I'm not against graphic violence per se, but I'm not interested in gratuitous slaughter that adds little to the story. One passage that particularly struck me as needlessly cruel was Optimus Prime watching helplessly as a human woman begs for her life and pleads that she has a family please don't kill her and then one of the Keepers just disembowels her. Definitely not what I'm looking for in a Transformers story. The second two novels were not as bad but nothing amazing, especially with all the errors. |
That basically echoes what the reviews that I read said. The first novel had completely gratuitous violence and and almost profane detailing of it, in addition to little-to-no knowledge by the author of the Transformers. The other two novels weren't anything amazing, but compared to the first one, were much more in line with the sensibilities you would expect in a Transformers novel. |

Legends is my favourite
Mainly because you've got some Beast Wars Prose penned by Furman, some Beast Machines prose by Bob Skir, A G1/RiD/Armada Prime & Primal crossover, a story about Starscream getting amnesia and joining the Autobots and much much more
Second favourite would have to be Alignment. It serves as a nice conclusion to G2 and segues nicely into the Beast Era _________________ "Running away with a Spaceman in a box, anything could happen to you" |

Any memories of "Satellite of Doom," a readalong book sold with a cassette? I think Megatron was voiced by Mumm-Ra of the Thundercats.
I remember being shocked by it when I was a kid because they killed humans in the book. Nothing grisly as mentioned before, but they were sealed in a cavern where an explosion took place to create a massive diamond.
Quote of the book: "Oh, busted gears and cracked drive shafts!" |

That's all I've been able to find (except for coloring books, but that's probably stretching it, as I was looking for books with actual, solid stories).
Anyone know of anything I missed?
Anything upcoming?
Should I include prose stories like Bullets, that are in the trades but not published separately from the comics? |

Really minor corrections: Exodus is the first book, not Exiles.
Exodus was also 2010. _________________ Looking For These Comics: Marvel Collectible Classics:X-Men # 1, 2, 4, and 6. Will Pay Very Well For These.

Exodus corrected, Classified books added (including Prime: Autobots versus Zombies!), and movie junior novels added.
Still need to add "passport to reading" books and younger reader movie books. |

I just recalled, I had some sort of Transformers Colorform book. I can't even recall the name of it, but it involved Starscream being disguised as some kind of jet other than his normal alt mode by being welded into a jet case by Rumble. Rumble welded with too much heat and Starscream was trapped in the case, unable to transform. Bombshell figured into it somehow.
I think the cassette said it was written by Dr. Z.
And come to think of it, it could have been wordless, or mostly wordless. I don't remember. But you recreated the scenes being described using the stick-on Transformers. |

| Ironically, if FunPub ever got around to packaging its online short stories together, you'd have the equivalent of a short novel for both TransTech and Shattered Glass. (Actually, Shattered Glass might well be a full-sized novel by this point.) |

And I've been waiting for both of those, especially TransTech, to get collected for a LONG time! |

I think more TF Novels are needed. But on a higher quality.
Maybe even some books written by Barber or Roberts to really add to their current story's, but I'm content with what IDW is giving so far. _________________ Everything I post is ok to print, use, copy, use for inspiration, promote world peace, change lives, etc...and so on and so on.

Hasbro and IDW should just bite the bullet and release Eugenesis officially. it's not like anyone reads the novels expecting them to tie into the comics directly anyway, and could also easily explain away the inconsistences with the on-cover blurb informing us that this was a very early project of James' and is pretty much the reason he's on the comics now. _________________

It'd be too risky for Hasbro.
Everything we see and get is work done under a work-for-hire agreement.
Because Eugenesis was not done like this, it can never be work-for-hire.
Legal department reaction = aw hell no. _________________ Looking For These Comics: Marvel Collectible Classics:X-Men # 1, 2, 4, and 6. Will Pay Very Well For These.
