Wow, an in-story acknowledgement of one of the discrepancies between HOD and Chaos. Can you imagine if Barber can actually salvage that? I expect no less from the guy who explained the Fallen's sarcophagus.

OK, I'm laying this down now, just so's you know: Skybite's poem is NOT, strictly speaking, a haiku! It's a senryu. A haiku has to have a season word in it. The senryu form is looser.
Although I suppose seasons on Cybertron are different from those on Earth, and 'wasteland' or 'barren' might be considered, in some way, season words.
Also, although the syllable structure is 4/7/5, that's not a problem - it's a weird English idea that we should translate the form of haiku into a 5/7/5 syllable template. That's not quite how it works in Japanese.
And it's not too bad a poem! I am always terrified of prose writers writing poet characters - the poetry always seems to conform to a stereotype of mystical romanticism. The abstract noun 'desire' is a bit poor, but it's an ok juxtaposition of image/idea. _________________ My personal website - it needs more pictures!

Loving all the pagetime Sky-Byte has already.
Hope that we get to see more characters from other incarnations of the mythos down the road, though. Would love to see, say, Ransack/Crumplezone, Bulkhead, Lugnut (who admittedly cameoed in Autocracy), and maybe even Obsidian and Strika.
(Heck - Obsidian/Strika would kinda be perfect in this environment. And Tankor (as in the smart version) could be adapted into the current setting easily as well.) _________________

In Summer he comes
Cybertron's forgotten son
To find truth in words
...
Like that? <<
I suck at Haikus, but luckily I'm not writing staff, lol
I have to say I'm interested in this, I expected Sky Byte to be an ex-con that Ironhide would see, growl at and the pair would glare at each other all throughout, this is much more interesting
But... Revelations, aghast! Is this the fate of poor Thinkbox?
I hope I'll enjoy this ^^ |

I love how succinctly it sums up that inconsistency between Heart of Darkness and Chaos, with just a handwavey "they all eventually started looking the same".
Good wink to the audience there _________________

Prowl and Arcee are awesome again!

"No, the other one."

Gosh I'm looking forward to this. Not too keen on Sky Byte but his interaction with Ironhide (and Ironhide's newer more introspective self- so much better than when McCarthy had him) is looking like it'll be good.
Also looking forward to us all coming up with our Transformers haikus, and Focksbot critiquing them

I think it's a thowaway in-joke. Since in the old RID cartoon in which he appeared, he was pretty much a double act with Scourge/Black Optimus. _________________

Just read the preview! Love how this is very Shakespearean (like a conversation I had with Andrew about if RiD was Romeo and Juliet). Now it seems like it's going Hamlet!
"You get used to it" - well, yep. Nice one Ironhide! _________________ Twitter: @lukeabarnett

Good Grief!
I think I am actually getting to the point that I like these books TOO MUCH.
I get all freaked out with excitement with every new issue and the anticipation for Decepticon month is driving me NUTS!! _________________ Monstrosity is like a delicious Italian feast followed by a glass of perfectly aged wine and a cigar. |
