Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is up and running (and more importantly, audiences have bought it), maybe we'll see them turning to more esoteric character choices. Dunno whether they'd find a big enough audience, but in the right hands, movies that could work include:

Black Panther (possible future Avenger, too)
Doctor Strange (Definitely leftfield)
Luke Cage/Iron Fist (Possibly even seventies-set)
Rebooted Daredevil (I think they've got him back now)
Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel (if they're going cosmic)
She Hulk (spinoff if they do a Hulk 2)
Ant Man/Giant Man and the Wasp (future Avengers again)
...etc, etc.

Starjammers

Rogue (meets Mrs Marvel gets powers) and Gambit movies would rock for me!

Currently, Wikipedia notes that The Avengers have garnered $1.92 Billion Dollars. Not bad at all. I hope that a sequel will retain the same high level of script and story and the focus will remain character oriented.
Other Marvel films I's love to see in live action:

Cloak and Dagger
Dr. Strange
Master of Kung - Fu

Okay, okay, I'll bite. I've seen it TWICE now, but have only seein ONE after-credits scene. If spoilers are an issue, would someone PLEASE send me a PM and tell me what the second was?

I am in pure bliss with this movie... can't get enough of it. Even shelled out the bucks for my little guy to get Hulk Stride Rite sneaks... though he wanted Iron Man first, but those sold out WEEKS ago.

I have never dabbled in the Avengers universe, so I've picked up all three of the Avengers Assemble comics that focus on the movie team as my wade-in.

One thing Marvel is doing right that IDW isn't - in some of their titles, they're giving a code for a free digital comic if you buy hardcopy. SOOOOOO want IDW to figure this out... how much of a no-brainer is THAT, to give some love to your loyal readers?

I never read the Avengers titles when I was growing up... too many titles, too many characters, and back then, I wasn't much a fan of costumed supers. Now, though, I'm looking at the movie, looking at the associated comics, and going.. ummm. Where. Do. I. START????

I've been trying to get my head around the continuity differences betweem the Avengers movie (AM) and the comics continuity (CC). Been reading wikis and such, but there is just so much out there.

'Shipper that I am, I've got to ask... the movie seems to have set up a Hawkeye/ Black Widow potential. I actually liked the fact that there wasn't any "okay, now let's fit a kiss scene in" in the film - the bond between them, strong friendship, partnership, respect - is where it should be right now. But in what I've read, any romantic affiliation is way long past history for them, and he's kinda married to someone else?

Of course there's one amusing exchange in the comic book AVENGERS ASSEMBLE...

HAWKEYE: Hey, Widow, I know we haven't dated in forever, but could you do me a favor?

BLACK WIDOW: I don't like where THIS is going, Hawkeye.

HAWKEYE: No, no, just at my funeral, will you get up and say something crazy awesome about my manhood?

That sent diet Coke spewing clear across the room, and I was glad I was reading hardcopy, not on my PC. If that's the extent of the relationship we get in the movies, I'll be plenty happy. Smile

Between 'em, Clint n' Natasha have slept with half the Marvel universe, it sometimes seems.Wink

So yeah, they dated a ways in the past; they were introduced back in the sixties as a villainous duo (both quickly reformed).

Hawkeye was married to Mockingbird, sometime Avenger, although they are now estranged. The Awesome Archer is currently dating fellow Avenger Spider-Woman.

Black Widow is currently dating Bucky Barnes, wartime pal of Captain America, now alive, well and all grown up.

Hope that helps!

Just a thought, but I think you should give Kurt Busiks Marvels and the seqel Eye of the Camera a look. It is an over view of the marvel CC from the view of one reporter. It's what I give to friends who want to start reading Marvel comics hope you enjoy you journey into the world of the Avengers.

The first post credit scene was the cameo of Thanos. (Kevin Feige , Head of Marvel Studios confirmed this and was cited in Wikipedia. ) The second was Iron Man and the Avengers scarfing down Shawarmas, a nod to Tony's asking Steve Rogers earlier in the film, "Have you tried a shawarma? Its great."

I've no problems with the multitude of Avengers titles. They are all different enough. Star Trek and GI Joe have multiple spin offs too and their fans aren't confused. Remember, the Avengers was based on both the core Marvel title and The Ultimates.

A Black Widow film would be cool. Especially since a female superhero film cracking the $100 dollar mark at the US box office would get attention. I imagine a Black Widow film to be a real espionage oriented film like Daniel Craig's take on James Bond-dead serious and character driven. The real hitch is to give Natasha an opponent to test her physically and psychologically in combat.
I would think Nick Fury, Maria Hill and Tony Stark (not necessarily as Iron Man) and maybe, Pepper Potts (See Iron Man 2) would be involved in the movie. Hawkeye can be introduced as a supporting character.

Black Widow also has had a relationship with Daredevil.

Heh, yeah, I saw that.

Funny, but honestly I feel like most of the "flaws" they make light of there are easily explainable or flat-out wrong.
