Costas' up at bat.
Two Out.
Bases Loaded.
All they need is one to tie it up and we're on to extra innings.
Costas' digging in.
Wait a minute!
He's pointing at the stands folks. Costas going for it.
The crowd is on their feet.
Here comes the pitch.
Strike ONE!
Costas didn't swing. He's taking his time folks.
Oh my God he's pointing at the stands again.
You can hardly hear a thing folks. People are chanting. People are stomping their feet. It's absolutely thunderous!
Here comes the pitch.
Strike TWO!
Costas let that one by. One can only hope he's biding his time. Willing that perfect pitch to come. But it's two strikes folks. One has to wonder if the pressure is too much. Has Costas lost his edge? Is there anything left in the tank? Perhaps he's been playing the game too long. Perhaps this is the end of an era. One more strike folks and its game over.
Wait! Where is Costas going?
I can't believe this. He's changing his bat folks. After an entire season of using his ol' Spike Special he's exchanging it for a classic Cobra Slugger! Unbelievable! Folks I've never seen a man with more intensity. His eyes say it all.
He's stepping up to the plate.
He's taking a couple of warm up swings.
And again he's pointing to back of the stadium, this time with the Cobra Slugger. The stadium is deafening folks. Never have I've seen this sort of thing in my broadcasting career. It's almost indescribable. It's like both the fans and Costas are feeding off each other. Drawing magic from the air.
This is it.
The wind up.
The pitch!
Annnd ...... (CRACK!)
It's outa here!!!!! _________________ The Rev on YOUTUBE

Wow... that issue really bookended the civil war and cobra command series nicely. I cannot help but think that Hawk's departure is linked to the upcoming movie. Same with Cobra going public: I liked how it was handled in ARAH, but it felt like it ended too abruptly. I hope it is handled better this time around.
I am really looking forward to Flint's turn in Cobra with issues 13 ~ 15. If Chuckles can be turned into my favorite character in the reboot verse from his run... I have high hopes for what can be done with my childhood hero.
Thanks for the great story IDW. |

I enjoyed it. It was nothing special storytelling wise but I do like how Costa handled Hawk's departure. I was so sure that Chameleon was right about Hawk wanting to kill himself. Next panel. Hawk is like "B!#$% please. I'm going to cash in big time and become a movie consultant.".
Also, like that Chuckles finally made Hawk laugh. _________________ Need to buy, rent or sell a home in DC or Northern VA, then contact me at realtorva@verizon.net |

Voted for Cover A, but it was sold out so I bought Cover B.
I agree with the Rev - Costa hit a homerun on this one!
And Maczero, I was thinking the same thing - it's super cool to see that Chuckles got Hawk to laugh in the end. Back in the original Cobra #1, if I remember right, Chuckles was always cracking jokes and Hawk didn't like it too much, so this was a great way to wrap up the Chuckles/Hawk story.
Stories like this are the ones where Costa and Fuso really shine - where the focus is on character and drama.
Personally I wouldn't put this quite as high as #155, but it's still amazing. Chuckles' "voice from the dead" serving as the narration was both eerie and heartwrenching.
Mike Costa at his absolute best - don't miss out!
And though I think that Fuso does not do well in the action department, I do think that his style is perfect for a drama/intrigue book like "Cobra."

Just read this recently as part of the Cobra Command Vol. 3 TPB. Great story -- its the final chapter of the Chuckles saga, and brings it all to an end.
I'm guessing this was going to be G.I. Joe Cobra Special #3 about a year ago, but got shelved for the Cobra Civil War/Command arcs. Glad we finally got it.
Here's the reference to Costa saying there was going to be one more special back when G.I. Joe Cobra #13 came out:
