I don't usually read ARAH, but this issue looks sick!

Ooooo. Interesting preview....
I'm calling it now - the Blue Ninja leader is Cobra Commander II, having also survived his death. The Fred-series face plus the proficiency with robotics/armor both point to him being involved. _________________

It's relisted on Midtown as coming out next week along with GIJoe 11, and Infestation 2: GIJoe #1 so maybe it didn't ship?
Haven't been to my comic shop yet either to check. |

Haven't been to my comic shop yet either to check. | I called my comic shop and they said they got it in. Hopefully the guy on the phone was correct.
I'd call before you assume one way or the other. |

Wow. Stunning story. Emotionally intense, especially on the Cobra side.
Hama and Gallant adeptly depict the terrifying brutality of the Blue Ninjas in a somber tone, yet with a careful avoidance of gratuitous gore - a change of point-of-view here, a carefully placed body in the foreground there. A cracked and bullet-riddled window screens a decapitation. The most heart-wrenching violence is simply stated by a Tele-Viper, but seeing a kneeling Cobra trooper in shock is more than enough to sell the scene. How is it that you guys made me root for Cobra? I mean, REALLY root for Cobra! By the end of the issue, I want what Cobra Commander screamed at Mindbender.
Wow. Well done, Larry and SL. I wish I could read the next one tomorrow. 4 or 5 weeks is too long a wait! |

As yeah; he never explicitly died on-screen. And we know that by Hama's standards, that's grounds for a death-cheat. There's already been three survivors - why not four?
As for an explanation, you can say that the CC armor barely kept him alive, or somesuch. Only plothole I see is the whole "all the bodies were accounted for", but the beauty of the Crimson Guardsmen is that they share faces.
That, and/or it's possible Fred uploaded his mind to the armor or something like that. Or he even got out with Firefly, explaining the ninja connection. _________________

Thats good, I never even thought about that at all, Back in issue 116 when it showed all the major players dead in the freighter, Fred was nowhrere to be seen. The last we seen of him he was getting attacked by Raptor and some others, who knows what happened after that. Very good theory sir, very good indeed!! |

I enjoyed this issue a great deal. The blue ninjas were presented in a scarier way and I liked mindbender's hint of cobra plans to come. I do wish there was more scripting and plot progression but I'm a child of the eighties. The artwork was great and I liked the Fred reference. The house-to-house killings were very well played but I do want to see more of cobra's big wigs like xamot and Tomax and even cesspool. I always enjoyed the back stabbing of the cobra elite. I wonder what big plans mindbender alludes to. Can I end a sentence with to? _________________ Thank-you IDW for supporting G.I. Joe: the revamp and ARAH. Here's to forty-nine years of adventure! |
