| I have a question in regards to drawing Transformers? Would it be best to do the drawings on paper instead of computer? Thanks. |

Not a clue. Whichever suits your fancy, I suppose. Although drawing on paper results on an actual tangible product that won't be wiped out by a computer crash... _________________

| Very true. Though, I do have a miniature flash drive that contains the first issue of a comic I'm working on. |

It's not real art if I don't have ink on my fingers! _________________

My preference when pencilling (and that's a RARE occurrence these days!) is to do all my sketching right through to the final inks on paper. I feel I have more control over pens and pencils than I'll EVER have with a mouse or tablet.
Of course, you could certainly try drawing direct onto your screen if you've got the gear to do it. You may find that more intuitive than I do. _________________ Check out my page on DA http://hde2009.deviantart.com/

I definitely prefer drawing with a pencil and ink on paper first, and then scan the art in for colors. _________________ Life is wonderful when you lack the capacity for sanity.

I feel the same way. I've been trying to branch out and do things a bit differently. I'll post a page I'm currently working on. Doing the inking and penciling on computer.
I'll let you guys be the judge of what I present on this forum. |

There is no right or wrong way to produce art.
There are people that switch between traditional media and digital at the drop of a hat and there are those that prefer one over the other. It comes down to how you feel working in each and whether or not you can achieve what you want to with it.
Like HDE I prefer pencilling and inking on paper but having said that my processes are far from traditional. I scan pencils into the computer and then print on separate pages for inking and then scan the inks for reassembly into the final page.
My advice, experiment with absolutely every technique you can and find what works best for you, not what you think works best for someone else. |
