Tom Waltz posted a preview of this week's Mikey Micro Series book over at the Technodrome, check it out here: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=10931
Sounds like there is going to be a day delay at most shops so look for this Thursday. _________________ Back off man, I'm a scientist. |

That was a great, extremely thought-out review.
Re: Mike's "party dude" persona, I was going for the fact that after all the drama in the main book, Mike, for one night, wants to unwind. I absolutely don't think that's the only facet of his character, he's just looking to have a New Years like the one he just learned about. And I believe after a while, with the adventures ahead, Mikey will be less naive and happy and trusting. |

Just finished it, another great issue Mr. Lynch! It was a very fun read, some great and simple story telling (which I mean in the most positive way possible) some very great characterization, which is something often left behind these days imo. A really fantastic issue, it reminds me a lot of a Mark Waid's Daredevil, a fun read that sticks to the basics and has a ton of strong character moments. It goes to show that you don't need an A-lister villain and 50 explosions to have a great issue (Just like Waid's Daredevil #7). Again an awesome issue, especially love the I love being...a guy dressed as a turtle line! Can't wait for the Donatello issue!! _________________ Back off man, I'm a scientist.

| Thanks! DONATELLO is a fun one, though tonally more serious than this one. |

Dear Mr. Lynch,
Just read Mikey's micro! Here's my review...
Firstly, I quickly forgot about my qualms with the artwork once I got into the story. I was fully engaged throughout, and I loved all of the past Michelangelo references thrown in there. I really like the direction Mikey's character is being taken in - it's certainly OT influenced, but far more down-to-earth. The fact that this was Mike's first party is interesting because we now have an origin for his love of letting loose, pop culture, and partying.
I knew that Mikey's character was going in the right direction when he stated upon entering the museum - "I can dig it. We learn while we party." A nice summary of the IDW Michelangelo I think we are going to know well. It shows a level of maturity but also one of playfulness and innocence, all at the same time.
It was a nice touch having Mikey think back to his typical nights with his brothers to help him in his current predicaments. It shows us that he really looks up to all of them, and it isn't hard to tell from this issue that he's definitely seen as the youngest of the four, at least at heart. "It's elemental" - classic line! We get a little throwback to the first movie in Mike's head-in-shell stint, which was much appreciated by 1990 TMNT movie lovers like myself.
Mikey's fighting style was portrayed nicely. He was passive in his approach but deliberate in his actions. Throwing himself through the window was a quick and efficient fix to get himself out of quite the pickle. The last battle on the rooftop wasn't anything stand-outish, but the best line to me was reading Mikey call the masked man a tool. Funny stuff. Lynch did a great job bringing the story full circle when Mikey knocks the masked man out while thinking "so dramatic." Great narrative throughout.
The issue did more for me as a Mikey fan than I think it did for the overall pace of the on-going plot in the title series (I'm guessing the guy that wanted the Dresden was Krang or Baxter, maybe Hob), but I think that's what Mikey's character is suited for in a micro anyways. He's the type of character when it's okay to just take a step back, relax, have fun, and then reflect.
All in all, I give this issue a 5 out of 5. I was extremely pleased, and I think it did great justice to Mikey's character. The "klunk" sound effect, Carl, movie 1 head-stint, the cat-lady (symbolic of Klunk, I'm guessing) and the dialogue between her and Mikey that continually reminded me of Mikey & Mitsu from movie 3 - this was a true joy to read, and you can tell it was very well thought out.
I can't wait for Donnie's micro! |

A lot of people elsewhere have been crapping on the art, but I think it's the nicest looking issue so far. The artist really understands line of action, which is important in a comic book. Y'gotta make those still panels exciting! and full of movement. ;) _________________ "I can't forgive myself for having lied to you. I don't have a degree in biology. Never even finished high school. | You're not alone Abnormal! I loved the art too! I still like Duncan quite a bit more, but the art was definately fun and perfect for Mikey! =) |

| It's thrilling to read all your reactions to the book. Good, bad, it's just fun to have people care about something that we all worked so hard on. Thank you, guys. Very much. |

I imagine the "klunk" sound effect was a nod to the cat, right? :p I dug.
Now I really wanna read the original Mikey micro. Fills me with all sorts of Christmas cheer, heh. _________________ "I can't forgive myself for having lied to you. I don't have a degree in biology. Waiting for my copies to arrive, hopefully won't be too long before I can give my opinion.
In another request, anyone know where I can still get a 1:25 edition of this from? Having a very hard time tracking it down compared to the Raphael... _________________ Lie with passion and be forever damned... |

It seems like there may be a shortage, and that Diamond may have goofed on that a bit when shipping. Myself and a lot of other members over at the Technodrome boards have had trouble tracking it down as well. _________________ Back off man, I'm a scientist. |

Yep, same here. ILoveBeingATurtle is right, we're all having problems tracking it down. I really hope we get them eventually. |
