Count me out.
I'm glad a new series is coming out for those who will be excited by it.
But I'm not interested in the new and not so improved STU. |

I'm sure Orci and IDW have issued these same concerns the fans keep bringing up on all the various message boards i've hit lately, regarding this title. |
Oh dont get me wrong, I'm very excited about this, and even if they do do a version of the doomsday or whatever that doesn't take into accout where the doomsday should be in space at the time, I'm sure it will still be a perfectly engaging and enjoyable story and will have interesting new ideas due to being in the new timeline. I'd just rather they didn't do something purely for nostalgia and coolness, and considered the wider implications on how we understand the Trekverse as a result.
The single story annouced so far seems perfectly plausable to me, Starfleet simply moved up the mission to the galactica barrier due to different priorities in this timeline.
Oh and something just occured to me, will be interesting to see which Delta Vega they use! (If they use either) _________________ Numerically challenged drone

I've never really been able to get into Star Trek, but found myself really enjoying the new film. Enough to make me buy Countdown and Nero.
Will definitely be picking this up. I see it as a way of introducing noobs like me to classic ST stories, so we can then go and discover the originals on DVD. _________________ "Running away with a Spaceman in a box, anything could happen to you" |

When/if you do decide to check out the original series on DVD come on back and give us your thoughts on it. _________________

actually, it's rather a good idea after some consideration.
For the fans who've come in "cold" from the film it's a whole new adventure, for the more long term fans like us it's a "this is how much everything has changed" story. _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

Star Trek has always been about possibilities. Re-living these old adventures in the new timeline/reality is a fascinating concept, in my view. _________________

| Personally, I'm wondering how they're going to handle time-travel episodes. Doesn't it seem like the crew should run into their counterparts from the Prime-Universe whenever they good to a point in history that occured before the Narada arrived? |

I completely agree. I was never a Star Trek fan until the reboot film. I started looking into the original television series because of that. This new IDW series sounds cool. _________________ Author of Mr. Smartass, available for Amazon's Kindle, iPad/iPhone, and other e-reader devices and apps. |
