half-yay! I enjoyed the Alien Spotlight issue in general, the story was great and I loved the setup of the alliance and such so I'm very up for a sequel. But I didn't care much for Mr Byrne's art for that issue so am less excited about seeing more in that style (I found the design of the praetor especially annoying). _________________ Numerically challenged drone

Interesting place Mr Byrne's boards... after hunting about a bit: It seems he's working on four new Trek projects! Three of which have already been approved, all are TOS and one of will be a pre-Captain April prequel. _________________ Numerically challenged drone

A further thought... if John Byrne gets to do spin-offs from his Alien Spotlight I hope everyone else does too; A Tipton/Messina Reliant series, more Captain Pike adventures, Tales from the Andorian Guard by Paul Storrie and Leonard O'Grady and the voyages of the Enterprise-E under Andrew Steven Harris and Sean Murphy... it would be glorious! _________________ Numerically challenged drone

Well, if Byrne gets a chance to do a follow-up to "Romulans" maybe he'll continue on with that Klingon-Romulan alliance sub-plot. _________________

from your lips to god's ears, sir. We'd love that.
(Although Mirror Pike is an awful lot of fun to write, we're discovering.) |

Mr Ryall posted some art (I presume a cover) on his blog: linky . Can anyone say Klingon-Romulan alliance? I am increasingly excited about this series... _________________ Numerically challenged drone

The Romulans preview art (Klingon alliance!) looks very, very interesting. _________________

According to Trekmovie.com the name of Byrne's Romulan series is ROMULANS: THE HOLLOW CROWN. _________________

Yup... and that's based on Byrne's website. I think that a link to Byrne's posting on it was in the prior review column I wrote. |

After seeing more preview pages and comments from Byrne himself, I'm even more excited for this series. The inclusion of TOS-era Klingons into the main plot makes it all the more sweeter. I think I'm in the fan minority in here when I say I definitely prefer the TOS Klingons over the bumpy-headed movie/TNG ones. _________________

This is the extent of what he said "One of the projects in discussion is a TOS prequel -- but it predates Captain April." About half way down this page: link
I'm not so thrilled about this one myself, Byrne seems to be a bit of a TOS purist, and I'd rather someone doing a prequel set in the time between Enterprise and TOS be someone who actually gives a damn about Enterprise. _________________ Numerically challenged drone
