Astrotrain is a Bullet train now??? Is that his third altmode change now? Good to read the Bombertron body is being given the boot too.

Those guys could all be acting though remember, I mean Prowl's very good at acting it seems, after all he did in LSOTW and other things that he claims to not believe to be wrong etc. They could have all been playing a part, just in case they were being monitored in some way

Acting when there is no-one you need around to see it doesnt make a lot of sense though, does it? I havent read all of this issue yet but I really hope it all makes sense (well, 90% at least) on reflection.

As it stands if Arcee is in on the plan, the whole attack on the decepticon bunker made no sense.

Yeah, that would make great sense to me Wink

But I don't mean to down this issue that much. The rest of what is going on here and issue 13 have finally brought a TON of what I have wanted out of Tfs comics for years now and I'm digging those pork chops.

My boys the Decepticons! I love em!

I must say I'm really liking the idea of giving all these Decepticons beefed-up bodies / alt modes. It's a neat way of making them into a credible threat again, and it works despite being blindingly obvious. Increasing the power levels of characters is a move that can grow pretty stale if it's overused (see Dragonball Z), but Barber has played his hand well. Making a street-level thug like Astrotrain scary? Good stuff!

I'll reserve judgement on how the plot all hangs together until I read the full issue.

As far as the preview goes, it's nice and pacey, but drives home yet again the mysterious absence of so many Autobots. Who needs Megatron to stage a coup against this tiny ragtag band?

Also, the Astrotrain/Blitzwing interventions strain credulity - no one heard a bullet train approaching at high speed? Or had time to react to a tank wheeling around a corner? Much better if Blitz had shot from a solid position some distance away or if Astrotrain had been detected approaching, shocked them with his 'return from the dead' and then taken advantage of their horror by transforming and ramming Swindle/Dirge.

Well of course he is! I don't think anyone is waiting for Prowl to start sporting a Decepticon tramp stamp. The real question is a matter of just how far he's going to go. The body count is gonna start adding up real quick, and his hands will certainly be the ones to be stained with the most blood.

On the other hand, why not? That would a fresh and a very interesting take on the character and his journey. I'd take that any day over the age-old and rather childish "I'm pretending to be a bad guy but I'm really still the good guy and no one can see that coming...".

Eh, depending on how fast Astrotrain was going, and where he was hidden, they could have easily had no time to react. Even that could have been distraction enough for Blitzwing to quickly make his move. Also, Blurr was the one rammed, not Dirge.

Oh yeah, it is indeed Blurr.

I dunno though - they're just standing around in a fairly open space, tensed for danger (notice how they're all looking this way and that), and Metalhawk has just landed, having had an aerial view of the region. That seems to give Asto and Blitz ninja-like powers of stealth, to my eye. Astrotrain is at least two carriages long and can hardly have a tight turning circle!

A bit nit-picky, eh?

Thing about trains, bullet trains no less? They can be fricking fast. Turn around and they hit you fast. You haven't got a prayer fast.

Blitzwing? Again, tanks can move at a hefty clip. Besides, who's to say he wasn't waiting in robot mode and transformed the instant he heard Astrotrain hit?

Like I say... nit-picky.
