I finished reading it around noon. I thought it was good, but obviously a slow-burn set-up for #20. I thought Zak's little freakout session and Dask's "get it together, man" speech were a little cliche and unnecessary (page filler), but I'm really excited to see what happens next, especially after reading that last page! I wonder if the result of this story arc will push Krang to the background for a little while so that Shredder can really have the spotlight for "Cityfall".

Yea I'm wondering how #20 will end as well. Going by what Bobby mentioned earlier in another topic...things end on a very high note, but that sinister (alt?)cover has me wondering. And yea you can totally tell this was a set-up for #20.

Also this is the first time Krang and the turtles actually meet, yea? I'm assuming Krang will realize these are "his" terrapin projects he was working on. Man oh man he'll be irate. Super excited for 20...oh gosh.

Here's my review of TMNT #19 at TMNT Entity.

I'm really enjoying the overall arc of the Krang War and these Neutrinos are just so much fun. Even if they were stock personalities it was still a pleasure to see them finally get distinct characterizations. It was a long time coming.

On the negative side, I felt there was just way too much exposition packed into this one issue. The origin of Burnow Island, how Felix tracked down Honeycutt, what the END Missile is, Honeycutt's dealings with the Foot leaked to Don, the big strategy to save the hostages... It was a lot of talking *at* the audience for one issue, that's all.

But what I really dig is this version of April. When the Turtles are teleported across the universe she doesn't miss a beat and just keeps right on moving, getting the lowdown on Burnow Island and General Krang. In the absence of the Turtles, both Splinter and Casey look to HER for a lead and she steps up.

Whereas in the Mirage series, when the Turtles were teleported across the universe, April tucked herself into a ball and cried, and when that was finished she moped around her apartment.

It's great to see how April has evolved into a more independent and interesting character over the years. And I think Waltz's April is one of the best, as her taking the reigns as soon as the Turtles vanished felt like a natural transition.

Dude yes. Like I've always had a sweet spot for April. Being the only female influence the turtles interact with always have her the ability to be a very integral part of the family. So far I think this is the best incarnation of her I've seen yet. Her micro was so great as well, I kinda wish she could get another. Lol

It's nice to step out of the infamous other topic in this board right now and then read people appreciating April's work in the turtle's absence ^^

She's certainly one tough cookie and it's awesome to see that she a continued knack for thinking on her feet and finding ways to get what she needs to find out

The issue alone was a bit exposition heavy, but thanks to scheduling it seems reading 18/19 together kind of evened it out for me a little, it reminds me that the books are best read together, but now things really are heading to a boil =o

There was something touching about watching Mikey, Leo, Raph and Donnie all getting ready, it felt like each of them is developing forward and maybe developing a little apart, and it leaves me wondering if this is all still from the fallout of Slash that they're developing in different ways because they dealt with that situation in their own ways too

It makes me wonder now how everything will reconcile next issue, certainly how their own relationships might do so as well

Call me edgy, but I can't wait to see next month's comic now!

This is a great point. I loved seeing them each doing their own thing as well. Does see, like they are kinda becoming their own now. Which is gonna make Cityfall all the more interesting. But you know it may have something to do with Slash...Mikey and Leo were the ones affected most emotionally by Slash, right? And of course they are the ones going off to rescue captured hostages and even protect a potential one. Good insight, Jazz. Might have to read 18 and 19 together later.

I greatly appreciate Ben Bates's sense of humor with the shout-outs to all the old Playmates Toy vehicles.

I too had to read 18 & 19 together and it is a better way of doing it.

Unfortunately if its there in my collection I have to read it! Waiting 1 month is bad! Two months kills me!

Its been a while since I set aside a day and just read it all all over again! I find I'm still picking up on things after numerous read throughs! This comic has so much depth! It beats every other turtle comic ever done hands down. May this continue for decades Smile
