Phantom Variant? Have any of them been phantom variant? I don't think so, we haven't placed the logo on ANY cover. But we're doing covers for Larry's and he's heavily involved in the Phantom Variant, so maybe he's calling them that? I couldn't say. |
eh, some of the fanbase is just over-reacting to the Alicorn thing.
Personally I think its a temporary thing, like with the Chrystal Pony forms or Rarity's wings so there is an in-show excuse for the toys Hasbro wants to make.
But if they did keep the wings, I'd think it would be less permanent Alicorn twilight and more a feature she has to magic on, and result in some fun with her learning how to fly with Rainbow Dash's help, or her wings vanishing in midflight because she gets distracted and such situations. |

I'd be just fine with The comics doing their own thing like the G.I.Joe & TF Comics do and NOT ever adding Alicorn Twilight to the books. I love MLP, and I'm trying to handle this horrid Alicorn Twy thing best I can, but its wearing on even me, its not a show killer, but it deff makes me like Twy even less then I did, I knew it was her destiny, but I always figured it was more of a series finale movie type thing, not a shoe horn in to 1 part season 3 finale. But hey, again who knows might just be a temp thing for the season 3 finale & season 4 op.
And on the bright side Twy remaining a Unicorn in the comics will help Boost books sales since the Anti Twilicorn camp seems to be pretty big, so those who want Unicorn Twy again will eat up the comic books!!! Hasbro/Hubs flub up is money in IDW's bank!  
But yeah sufficed to say ATM I officially love the comics more then the show now.

All I can really say is to have patience until it actually happens. I know there's been plenty of stuff that sounded like something I wouldn't like, but ended up loving (Bringing Bucky back in Captain America comes to mind)
Of course there's plenty of stuff that sounded like something I wouldn't like that... I didn't like.
But the point is, until it's actually done, not much point in forming too hard an opinion of it.

Oh I trust the writers, what bothers me is this is just blatant Corporate greed on Habsro's part. I know all of this has probably been planned out for quite some time, but the are seriously only doing this to sell the Alicorn Twilight toys to little girls. And I get it I do, MLP like Trasnformers & G.I.Joe are toyetic franchises, they have to put up with stuff like this and make it work. But its still sad that Hasbro is doing something they most likely knew would turn off a fair amount of older fans. I mean sure the kids will love it, it'll be like when I was a kid and first saw Goku go Super Saiyan in DBZ, it was AWESOME!!! But I just feel, well I feel its too rushed. Sure I expected Twy to become an Alicorn, but in a special or a movie, not a 1 part 22 minute season finale. Its taking something that should have happened later in the series and pointlessly speeding it up.
But I digress, I still love the show and have faith in the writing staff, and as long as Twilicorn doesn't hog all the screen time in season 4 *or all the Panal time whenever if ever she does appear that way in the comic* and I can still have fun stories about AJ, The Crusaders, Dash, Spike, Fluttershy, etc. I'm all good.
But yeah it is sad something like this is being done so soon in the series, sure I guess you could probably argue when they were writing season 3 they didn't know if they would get a 4th season and wanted to wrap up some plot points, but still...I dunno, just leaves me feeling a bit sour, yea know.

| Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but are there plans to release trade paperbacks eventually? We are still only a few issues in, but it would be nice to see such once enough issues have passed to fit one. |

Paperback of first four issues (I'm assuming it's the first four issues) is coming in May.

Season 3 has been sending the show in quite a few new directions.
* There are now four CMC and perhaps two more on the way.
* Rainbow Dash has taken Scootaloo under her wing.
* Rainbow Dash has joined the Wonderbolts.
* Discord has agreed to temper himself because of Fluttershy.
* Twilight Sparkle: Alicorn Princess is shaping up to be permanent.
I am very excited about future CMC and Dash episodes and I hope the comics will catch-up with those developments eventually. But I must admit those last two changes have me worried. There was a TNG episode in which Q was uncharacteristically benevolent and still as mischievous as ever: Tapestry. I could see the new Discord work like this, forcing lessons on our heroes. So there is hope. But Twilight? I just don't know. |

in other words a "Freaky Friday" type episode where twilight switches places with Celestia. Also some other characters may switch around, that isn't clear. But is undone by the end of the episode. |

I guess you haven't read the Entertainment Weekly article about this alicorn princess thing or the extended plot synopsis of the episode.

Yeah same here, My biggest worry it Twyly will hog too much of season 4 just because she'll be an Alicorn, and I really want to see more Dash & Crusaders expansion, i just love watching those characters get development.
Also dash hasn't really joined the Wonderbolts so much as she has started her training to become one, but yeah, I hope season 4 will expand more on Dash's new responisbilities, Wonderbolts Training, as well as her training Scootaloo. And of course hope we have some more fun CMC Antics and maybe get a look at Babs Manehatten CMC Branch. If they can still give us fun stuff like that, they could turn Twilight into a Draconquis for all I care XD. *I mean don't get me wrong I love the gal, but I find the rest of the cast for more entertaining personally, specially AJ, Dash, & the CMC*

Hi Zion,
I'm not exactly sure, because we used a different printer for that one, and i'm not sure what they're turn around is. The issue is off to print, and will hit February (barring something crazy, which, admittedly, has been happening)
My best bet is 2/20.
