are there any limitations on using the extended family of the Mane 6?

I mean in show we have seen some, like Applejack's farm family and cousins.

Rarity's parents.

Pinkie Pie's parents and sisters(only as kids though)

Twilight Sparkle's parents and brother.

Although the show has never shown anything of the families of Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. For all we know Derpy could be Rainbow Dash's sister.

Don't forget we've also never seen ANY of Scootaloo's Family... at this point i'm starting to believe Pegasui are like birds and they just eventually kick the babies/kids out of the nest XD.

There's no blanket limitations, but we could get notes on any given story... could be they have plans to reveal certain new characters, or have a episode planned about someone, so they could be "off limits" for the time being. But that's the way it is with everything... we haven't been told we can't do anything, as long as it's in keeping with the spirit and tone of the show.

In the Third Eye Comics variant cover, I noticed some other covers that I hadn't seen before:
*The one with Cadence that's about to be bagged.
*The mane six and Celestia above the Third Eye Comics logo.
*And one by the window featuring Chrysalis and some changeling mane six.

Could you identify which issues these are for?

Hi Marimo,

Sure thing... Those are all covers for #3, I believe.

-Cadence that's about to be bagged is Hot Topic cover for #3 by Tony Fleecs. (this entire cover is by Fleecs too, btw)

-Mane 6 & Celestia is Jeff Campbell retail incentive for #3

-And Chrysalis with changeling Mane 6 is the #3 A cover by Amy Mebberson.

Hope that helps!

Hmm, looks like some external sites got a little confused on the release date for issue #3... while we're on the subject, can you confirm or correct the TFAW/ComicList dates of 2/20 for issue #4 and 2/27 for micro-series #1?

Lord I hope so, I don't think I can handle any more release date changes, wrong release dates on sites, or i'm liable to pull off all the hair on my body out of rage! Laughing Shocked Evil or Very Mad

I know that 2/20 for Issue #4 and 2/27 for Micro-series #1 were the estimated ship dates Diamond listed in Previews. I haven't heard that there were any changes, but that doesn't necessarily mean there weren't...

I'd put my money on both of them being the last week of February, but won't know for sure until they are gone to print next week.

I see, welp, guess its time to get out the old timer and play that age old passtime.... The Waiting Game.

http://static.fjcdn.com/large/pictures/c7/86/c7869e_3529849.jpg

So essentially at this point the release schedule will most likely be...

MLP:FIM # 3 1/30
MLP FIM # 4 & Micro # 1 2/27
MLP: FIM # 5 & Micro # 2 3/27

and so on and so forth.

Sigh, oh well I guess as the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait.

If only the thing we are waiting on wasn't more addictive then caffeine, sugar & drugs combined.... darn these ponies! They lead me to impatience!!! Laughing Razz [/b]

Thanks for the update Bobby! Looking forward to hearing final dates. It probably feels a little obsessive to you, but the MLP fan sites will be talking about those dates around the release of issue #3. It's kind of a different market from mainstream comic fans who have an established pull list and wander in once a week to pick up their comics. (I still see a half dozen people on Twitter this morning talking about the 1/16 date that TFAW and iTunes had up, argh).

Speaking of which, I know it's completely unsolicited advice, but if you guys can space the main series and micro series so a new issue of one or the other comes out every two weeks, I think it might help sales significantly. It would turn the comic into the ongoing thing fans are following throughout the long ponyless summer. With month gaps, it's going to be harder to maintain that momentum. I also think some fans will get confused about the existence of two parallel series if they release at the same time.

http://www.derpyhoovesnews.com/mlp-1-idws-all-time-best-selling-comic-90th-in-quantity-sales-overall-for-2012/
*In quantity sales, it’s ranked 90th.
*In dollar sales, it’s ranked 61th.
*It’s by far the most successful comic by IDW in 2012 (the next in the list is Mars Attacks #1 on 417th)
*It’s beaten Godzilla #1 as the best ranking comic in IDW history (MLP#1 got 15th on Nov/2012 vs. Godzilla #1 on 16th in March/2011)
*…and the best selling launch in IDW history (MLP #1 sold +80k on it’s first month vs. Godzilla #1 selling +53k on it’s first month).

Your and the others at IDW's reaction?
