He also post a lot in the various Dragon Age forums at the BioWare Social Network and he gets some in very spirited debates with fans over a lot aspects of the Dragon Age franchise.

He also written the only 3 Dragon Age novels (The Stolen Throne, The Calling and Asunder) and the graphic novel Dragon Age vol. 1: The Silent Grove and he plotted the excellent (from what glanced of it so far excellent would be an understatement it can easily hold it owns with all 3 of IDW's Transformers series, and is much better than any of the Mass Effect comics) mini-series called Dragon Age vol. 2: Those Who Speak from Dark Horse, which is really about the origin of Isabela an extremely lusty bisexual female pirate captain, and just when you thought who knew her from her very brief appearance in Dragon Age: Origins too her being a real stand out character and arguably best love interest in Dragon Age II who learn you didn't know her at all and I mean that in the best possible way.

What MLP:FiM has achieved is pretty amazing. I really need to watch that show.

MLP was the only girly show I watched as a child. Other than that it was just Spiderman, TMNT, Transformers, Biker Mice from Mars, and other cartoons targeted at boys from the eighties - dubbed and aired in the mid nighties.

What I find interesting about the main cast of My Little Pony is that they are stereotypes, but without being two-dimensional. All of them have mult-faceted personalities and often surprising hidden depths and strengths.

If I had a daughter, I'd be encouraging her to get her role models from something like MLP over Twilight.

Twilight encourages girls to be subservient and pine over boys. Way to set back the feminist movement.

One thing that impressed me about MLP, is this is the only show/movie/book/etc where I have ever considered one of the more girly characters a favorite. While Rainbow Dash stands as my absolute favorite in the show, Rarity is a close second. I typically gravitate more towards the more tomboyish females in shows because they tend to be given a bit more respect and are just generally written better. But Rarity as a character is given a lot of love and care and she's genuinely likeable and entertaining.

While she does act very girly, love fashion, and care a lot about her appearance, she isn't any weaker because of it. And if memory serves me right, she's the only pony that's shown any interest in dating, but that's not all she's about. For me, Rarity has proven that you can have a very girly character without her being bland and weak.

It's too bad that it took 28 years for this tomboy to find a girly character she likes, because a character being feminine should never be an excuse to be a lazy writer.

MLP just sounds better and better. One of the things that worried me while babysitting my cousins was the shows they were watching. The girly ones. It just seemed like the main plot was finding a pretty dress to put on for a date with a pretty boy. Sure they would save the world and all of that, but that seemed more like a subplot, to be quite frank.

You can tell by looking at these images that taking a BCs in engineering or economics is on their future plans.

I found this interesting article, but it's about Barbie and Bratz and it's kind of off topic, I guess, so I'm posing in it the girls and whatnot thread:

Winx is a total rip-off of W*I*T*C*H which is way, way better IMHO.

Actually IIRC Barbie had a 60 issue comic book series from Marvel that ended in the early 90s when Marvel decided to get rid of it's Star Comics line.

I still have all the issues that were ever released in Dutch. Was devastated when they cancelled it (the original Italian version kept on running for a while longer). Especially as it was one of the few good comics for girls out there. It had a lot of things going for it: good characters, adventure, fantasy... It was real nice and I still miss it.

Exactly. I wouldn't want a daughter who grew up believing she needed a boy to be complete.

I'd want her to know that she can so anything, by herself and FOR herself, and isn't subservient to the whims of a male.

Then again, if I had a daughter I probably wouldn't let her date until she was 30. Laughing

Hey, you remember Anita Sarkeesian? The woman who became the focus of a hate campaign for daring to start a Kickstarter campain for making a video about women in video games? This is her speaking!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZAxwsg9J9Q

(I also recommend her "Feminist Frequency" series on YouTube for an illuminating perspective on women in varied media.)
