This will be spoiler free

I loved the artwork. Andy does an amazing job retaining the characterization in a different style. The layout is great, everything is great.

The writing is also great. The jokes and humor are in-character and they come fast and furious. The characters are in character and are given equal footing, which is something even the show struggles with! The plot starts off fast and I'm invested. Katie deserves immense praise.

The story flowed well and it was colored well. Literally everyone involved did a superb job- Bobby and Heather included!

As a fan, this was a very solid 5/5. 6/5 maybe. Exceeded expectations, which were high already!

As I ate lunch at the shipyard, a few guys who knew nothing about ponies(aside from knowing I liked them) read the book as well. The consensus was that it was a solid read, but for the initiated, it was hard knowing who was who, they all thought Equestria was the name of the town, and they didn't understand what a cutie mark was. I don't consider that a real problem- they still thought it a good read- but going forward, that is the one 'flaw' I've seen.

Overall, the first issue has been a smashing success. All involved

All I can say is I loved the book, the art, the story, the fact the characters all felt right and I could easily read the whole thing in their voices.

Plus, the cameos were great and many things had me laughing.

Wanted to drop by from the TMNT forum to say that this was a great all ages book.

It moved really fast with its story, but there was never a wasted panel. Just a rapid machinegun fire of jokes. All the voices were spot on and nothing ever felt "off" (well, save that one panel where Applejack is colored like RD).

And the art... So good. The heavy shadows threw me at first, because they're just a contrast with the bright colors, but the final effect was really remarkable. The poses were lively and the layouts were splendid and the overall narrative flow just draws you in. And the cameos... Those were the best (Donald Sutherland pony, aw yeah).

So tot he creative team behind this book: Great job and keep em coming. It not only lived up to the hype but exceeded my expectations.

I would really love to explore Princess Luna, her sister, more too -- you would definitely see Celestia in that.

Glad you liked it Spengs, you've always got a well thought-out opinion, it's appreciated (FYI, Spengs writes great TMNT reviews, that's how I know that...)

What page is this error on Spengs? Sounds new to me...

Weeeeell, I think we may see some Luna sooner than we think, check out Twilight's reply, it's from the desk of *Celestia's cutiemark*...

AND! It's CCed, lol, Luna's cutie mark right there alongside!

So much detail to be had and delve into, just noticed as well on the first few pages, the 'EST. 1982' bit =3 Indeed it was

I'm happy to see more people starting to mill in here now, I've not spotted the error in art, but I DO see someone took the Pinkie avvy I KNEW would happen with that smile XD

Applause~

Heh... I saw 3 panels where Rainbow Dash is missing her wings (pages 7, 10, and 14); couldn't find one where Applejack was colored wrong though.

The obvious explanation is that it isn't Rainbow Dash at all, but an inexperienced Changeling who forgot the wings. Unless, of course, a wizard did it... Shocked

In all seriousness, the book was a great read. I love the look and feel of the artwork; I appreciate the Flash animation used in the show, but seeing the color and depth of hand-drawn art is a nice change of pace. I've read through the book several times and keep finding new things I didn't notice before... the titles of the books Spike is sitting on in the Library, for example.

I also find that I can almost hear the voice actors from the show when I read the dialogue... there aren't any moments when I think "Nope... Rarity would never say that!" or feel like any pony is acting out of character.

And the scene with Derpy? PRICELESS! Little things like that tell me that we're in the hands of a creative team that knows and understands their source material and fan base. Kudos to both Andy and Katie for a job well done, and I'm looking forward to the next issue!

I'm wondering if the Panels where Dash is missing her wings will be fixed for the Trade Paperback release of the book.

Re: RD's wings.

Huh, you are right! Amazing how you can look at something dozens of times and miss it. And dozens of people saw this to before print!

But that's on me... apologies!

Well done, eagle-eyed fans. I'm gonna have to start an "official mistake" thread!

Glad people are digging it.

These facial expressions! I'm dying!

Mostly bought it for that special Brony in my life, but I think I could get into this myself.

That actually might be helpful for fans(when they have a place to put mistakes, it becomes more fun/less aggravating when they see them) and for the creative staff!

Oooh! We found mistakes! Send us our No Prizes!

Oh wait. Wrong publisher. Wrong decade. Ummm.... never mind Wink

Actually, it's funny... I don't think I noticed the missing wings until my second or third read-through, and even then it was mainly because I was looking for any little background gags that I might have missed.

It's still a great book, whether or not RD has wings!
