The only reason I'm excited about this issue is because it finishes the story arc and I never have to pick up this title again. |

| I would agree that it is disappointing how the book turned out, but from the post I linked to in the other thread, it seems like Ed was building up to bigger stories involving some more well-known Forgotten Realms characters, before Wizards of the Coast apparently decided to cut the deal with IDW short. Which is unfortunate; feels like the book never got the chance to find its footing. |

I don't think "not having found its footing" was this book's problem. It had clunky sequential storytelling and it was hard making out what was happening sometimes. In short, it was lacking in comic storytelling technique. That's not something that would have been solved with more issues.
Our old D&D series had unfamiliar characters and was building to something bigger: that never stopped fans from warming to it with the first issue.

| Well, with Ed being new to the medium, I would expect that with succeeding issues he would get a better handle on it, and I do think things started to heat up with the introduction of the dark elves, and the King of the Ghost Holds. I was looking forward to seeing Elminster, the Simbul, the Knights of Myth Drannor, and others as the series went on. I guess we'll never know though. |

I'm confused. The preview in Sprite's post shows the 3rd Edition Forgotten Realms logo, but I thought these books were supposed to be reprints of the DC/TSR stuff. _________________ David "Big Mac" Shepheard

They are still doing reprints of the DC stuff in collected trades (the Forgotten Realms series is all done but there's still a volume of the AD&D stuff underway), but this is a new story by Ed Greenwood. _________________

You said it best, Sprite. This title was, by far, one of the worst titles I have ever read in recent memory. It actually ranks up there with some of those god-awful superhero titles that are flooding the market. I will not be picking up anything with these characters ever again. |
