I just don't get it...can't ANYONE from IDW tell us what is going on with the book?
I have had it on order for months and months and have no idea if it's even going to happen.
Please let me know cause I can at least get my deposit money back from the comic book store and shop for something else as a christmas present before the 25th |

I am sooo confused, I see some website saying the artist edition isn't going to be made because DC doesn't hold rights to the Spirit, but DC does own the rights for past Spirit artwork, that this is probably why IDW either isn't making the artist edition, or maybe they still are because the release date has been pushed forward 4 times in the past 2 months.... WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DOES ANYONE FROM IDW READ THESE POSTS???? I have tried to get some kind of response a couple of times just so I know when (and if) this book will ever be made.
just don't get the lack of info. Even if a statement that they are reviewing the situation but can't talk about it yet would more than suffice..... |

Scott Dunbier, the editor behind the Artist Editions, has posted on twitter that the book currently at the printer and is expected to be in stores in March.
DC recently lost the rights to the Spirit, though they can still do the archives (I believe). DC does not own the rights for the artwork; they never did. They only licensed the work.
A possible reason there were no definitive comments made over the past year could be due to the rights change at DC, which may have restricted anyone involved from speaking about it. |

It seems like these Artist's Editions are always some shade of late. But really, the thing you should remember is that online stores or your local comic shop taking pre-orders doesn't mean anything. Some online shops started taking people's money the day after the Eisner book was announced! They're just trying to lock in your sale.
So far it seems fairly typical for them to announce these books around a year in advance, so for me, I don't take them seriously until they start taking pre-orders at the IDW shop. You'll notice that the Eisner book STILL isn't listed there. |
