I missed it by 5 minutes. How do you rewatch this twitcast (not too familiar with the site)? _________________ Ghostbusters Volume 2 #3 Notes |

I didn't save the audio on these! (I botched up on saving part two - it only allows so much time in one session - and since I was in the middle of an answer on part one, I just let both go.)
These are fun, but too hard to schedule for folks! I need to figure out a better way. _________________ Follow me on Twitter. Be my Facebook fan. Wade in the pool that is my ego. (;

The time was a perfect one for me, just something unexpected happened and I had to leave my house. _________________ Ghostbusters Volume 2 #3 Notes |

Tellya what, pal -- I'm going to open the lines back up to rerecord answers to the Big Questions.
If anyone has any more...... I can answer those, too. I'll save it properly this time either way. (; _________________ Follow me on Twitter. Be my Facebook fan. Wade in the pool that is my ego. (;

I decided to pass this title for two reasons:
1) I'm not a fan of relaunches. As a matter of fact, I absolutely hate them.
2) Seeing all three female characters in shorts while the only male character is fully covered is something I can't stand -- to see women showing more skin for the sake of showing more skin. Why aren't their legs covered? Are they immune to injury on their legs?
It may sound ridiculous to you but I've grown to disdain the excessive exposure on females because they're females. No self-respecting woman would dress that way, unless the men do too.
At least now I can buy something else. |

So you don't think you're jumping to a conclusion based on the image?
I had a small point I thought about making with this story and the shorts... most people have had jobs -- customer service in one way or another, where they know what's practical and best to do their work.
...And then, upper management makes changes arbitrarily or without considering those in the field.
I kinda wanted to riff on that, and also make a point about just what you did, there.
I don't want to spoil the specifics of the story, but if you've read and enjoyed what we've done so far, I hope you'll reconsider and give us the benefit of the doubt.
But just to allay fears -- in issue 1, the ladies aren't wearing shorts. In issue 3... they aren't wearing shorts. In issue #2... they are in shorts, and they're less happy about it than you are.
We aren't turning the book into Sexy Ghostbuster Chicks any more than we're permanently excising Venkman from these pages. (The original four are present in this arc as well!)
So hey, give it a look -- if you liked volume one, I don't think you'll be disappointed in volume two at the end of the day.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable about the cover images when that's what's being solicited. If those are not the costumes, why would they be advertised? Of course, it's not the first time a cover does not give an idea of the interior content, but I would think the costumes do not fall under that category.
I also had a feeling it was not you or the artist that decided to put the women in shorts. The type of series you've done so far is nowhere near the oversexualization and objectification of women that you see from "The Big Two" and their superhero titles.
I'm still not a fan of relaunches so it will take some convincing for me to change my mind. But not only are you a talented writer, but you seem to be a nice person so I will give it some more thought. Fair enough? |

Fair enough -- depending on the size of the #1 preview, it should give you a good idea of what we'll be about in this arc. (:
But I can guarantee you -- the tone won't be much different from what you've seen! _________________ Follow me on Twitter. Be my Facebook fan. Wade in the pool that is my ego. (;

It is your second sentence that drives me the most nuts about relaunches. Nothing in the book will change as far as creative teams are concerned -- and therefore style, tone, substance, etc. -- and yet it's given the treatment of a new book. Forgive the rant, but after twenty or so years of this from Marvel and DC, I've gotten incredibly sick of it.
Regarding the preview, any idea when we'll see that? |

I've picked up on some of the points made and we're discussing it in the "Portrayal of women in comics" thread if anyone's interested:
