Gun to my head and I had to pick only one to buy? RID. But it would have to be a very big gun.

Yeah, very much in agreement with this. I'm trying to convert my friends, but they seem to be forever stuck in "TF is like Bayverse" mode. Sad. _________________

Funny you mention that Rice because while the movies were a great financial boon they seem to have changed peoples perception of Transformers a whole lot. Most (non hardcore fans) people seem to view transformers as either the 80's cartoon or the movies. As a result a lot of people seem to think the movies are dictating the current direction with things like TF Prime and Bumblebee not talking.
Either way, like you I try to get as many people into these books as I can but alas lots of people just think a comic based on a cartoon/toy doesn't have the story of something like a DC/Marvel....unfortunately. _________________ Ok to print!

Another thing is that (and this is true) the Transformers are a hard series for someone new to jump in. There are too many characters, unlike Star Wars or the Matrix. There are also too many versions. And lastly, a lot of the things we like, we like them because we appreciate the new changes and improvements to past stories or characters. How can anyone possibly fully appreciate LSTOW without being aware of the Marvel UK runs (for example)?
It's a hard battle, made worse by Michael Bay. _________________

Say what you like about Bay but if there had been no movies I wouldnt have returned to the franchise. I got into the movie stuff then realised that IDW were doing G1 too and it went from there. _________________

Interesting that ReGen based on these figures outsold both MTMTE and RiD.
Interesting that there are far fewer comments made for ReGen issues then the other two. Maybe ReGen readers or at least a large portion of them dont post here.
Just was something I noticed. _________________

I'll agree that the movie did help lore me be back into collecting. But now it's a situation where I follow this franchise in spite of his or TF PRIME's contributions.
So at this point just give me the comic books, the video games and the Generation's toy line. _________________

Thats quite a big drop in sales figures isn't it? Was there a problem in August or sales usually bad due to silly season (everyone on holiday) or something? _________________ -----

Not really.
It's a new title. Retailers are still trying to find their level, and work out the actual demand for the title by their customers.
It's a tough one to order for. What do you compare it to? It's not really like any current title, so they're only a little but useful. How do you gauge the nostalgia sales by customers who had the Marvel issues as a kid? Will they stick around? Etc etc etc.
Give it time to level out, then we'll have a better picture.
For now, it's placement means very little. _________________ Looking For These Comics: Marvel Collectible Classics:X-Men # 1, 2, 4, and 6. Will Pay Very Well For These.

And, if a lot of people who pick up ReGen are like the Dutch fans I know, they'll not be likely to post here anyway, because they don't really keep up with the comics but pick up this one for nostalgia reasons. _________________

Are those sales figure for North America only? Reason I ask is because some of my favorite titles such as The Darkness and Witchblade (Top Cow) are super low on the lists but seem to do well over seas, mainly Europe and South America. _________________ Ok to print!

So in reality a book can do very well but just not show up on Diamond right? One thing that has always baffled me is how if a series does well but mainly overseas, it may still get cancelled unless they continue them overseas and I am just not aware. _________________ Ok to print!

I hate to see sales on the revamp falling. I've loaned out my hardcovers to friends I trust but they actually seem to enjoy ahm the most which is baffling to me. I really like the new stuff but the -ations phase will always be my favorite. I know I say this too much but I really feel having the original trio of humans return would make the revamp more attractive to new readers. Otherwise there's no real-world pov to lure them in. As one friend said to me "it's just a buncha robots fighting eachother". There needs to be something they can relate to. As for the movies- I must admit the first one got me into the revamped universe. The passion of the fans kept me here. _________________ Thank-you IDW for supporting G.I. Joe: the revamp and ARAH.
