So that's what ... season 5 Trek? So season 1 DS9 - no Dominion. Pity... _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

God bless Doctor Who fans (and this time it's not even me having a whinge!).
Someone on Gallifrey Base basically said that the art is disrespectful to the medium, their girlfriend could and does do a better job, another who thinks that the story is trite, another who thinks that it's going to be a Trek lovefest.
FWIW, I actually take back my reservations about the series. Yes it's a silly idea, but Doctor Who makes it's bread and cheese out of silly ideas. The important characters have their voices right and if the next issue features the Doctor having a Doctorish conversation with Data and driving the poor thing to exasperation I'll be a happy fanboy until the end of the series. _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

Honestly, I'm really impressed with the art. Really liked the Easter Egg outside the SF bar.
The husband's more of a TNG fan, so I'm going to need his help for the Trek side of things. _________________ Why yes, I try to write...

I didn't. It's too blatant and obvious, and is thus more distracting than it should be.
With regards to the art...well, I'm not sold on it (one particular panel features Amy in a pose I immediately recognized from a publicity photo of "The Girl Who Waited"), but I'm not against it, either.
And for those who are pooh-poohing the series based on this issue, remember: it's a first issue. It's got a LONG way to go. _________________ Everything I say is OK To Print, Even the Bad Stuff.

Line that made issue #2 for me? Worf's essaperated "you you please stop talking?' To the Doctor.
Liked Troi picking up on the trust the Ponds have for the Doctor, might have liked it more if she couldn't get a read on the Doctor, but it is a quick and easy way to establish to the Enterprise crews satisfaction he's mostly harmless.
And the mining colony - it's got "base under seige" written all over it. It's almost a quintessential Who locale, I hope they use it later on, perfect place for stomping Cybermen and the like, nice for some "borg around the corner" tenaion too. _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

The biggest shocker of all is that Rory, Amy, and the Doctor have never seen an episode of STAR TREK. I mean I know Amy's a small-town girl, but geez, Doctor... 900+ years. And faking like ya knew what Rose was talking about with all those "Spock" references. Shameful.
I'm just gonna Marvel No-Prize it and say the Crack In Time ate Gene Rodenberry and didn't spit him back out. I'm sorry, Trekkers. I'm so sorry. |

Actually, given the fact he remembered a Klingon after seeing one for the first Tim, I think there's some oddness going on. Maybe they can't recall Trek because currently instead of it being fiction, it's fact. _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

I get the feeling we'll get the answer to that in the next issue, what with the cover hinting at a conflict between the classic Cybermen and the TOS crew and Fourth Doctor. _________________ Everything I say is OK To Print, Even the Bad Stuff.

And...I was right. Nice little interlude with the TOS crew and the Fourth Doctor (for those interested in knowing, the stardate given for the interlude is 3368.5, putting it between "Operation: Annihilate!" and "Amok Time"; essentially, between the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2). Doctor Who timewise, there's an oblique reference to the fact that the Doctor is travelling alone, obviously putting it between "The Deadly Assassin" and "The Face of Evil" for him.)
The last page…well, all I can say without spoilers is that I can hear the interwebs exploding with the geek wars that are about to start… _________________ Everything I say is OK To Print, Even the Bad Stuff.

I loved Kirk fighting his losing battle with the Cyberman. _________________ Ohh 'Eck! |

Clearly Kirk should have tried to sleep with it.
I liked the art shift with the flashback. That was a nice touch. _________________ Why yes, I try to write...

OK, I got issue 4, and after giving it a read, I just gotta ask this question.
Is anyone else starting to find this...predictable?
I mean, don't get me wrong. It's still a good read, and there are some wonderful moments (in particular the scene between Amy, Rory and Deanna, which basically sums up Doctor Who for anyone whose never watched it), but by the end, I got the feeling that...well, it's a little too...obvious.
Still, going off #7’s solicit….maybe things will pick up? _________________ Everything I say is OK To Print, Even the Bad Stuff.
