1.) Where they ever released in Japan. If so, what line and what year

2.) Apart from Megatron, are there likely to be any Decepticon Action Masters in ReGeneration One.

3.) The Decepticons have spent the last 5 months stuck in robot mode (RiD), doesn't that technically mean they were Action Masters.

4.) How can anyone have this many questions on Action Masters

1. I'd imagine they were, but I'm not sure.

2. Starscream and Shockwave both got a dousing as well. Also, we saw a number of AMs turn up in Bludgeon's crew, albeit not actually AS AMs.

3. No. To technically be an Action Master, you would need to be a character who was originally a part of that line, and for those characters who appeared as part of other lines as well, display the direct identifications of losing the ability to covert due to the power-upgrading Nucleon infusion.

4. Because Action Masters always have been and always will be the most awsome subset of the Transformers line outside of the Throttlebots.

1) Other than Convoy (aka Optimus Prime) in a special (I think it was New Year's) Reissue, I don't think any of the Action Masters have been released in Japan.

2) Grimlock was one in #80 if he's still one after 21 years your guess is as good as mine. Very Happy

3) Not, in my opinion. Action Master either means powered by Nucleon or having a transformer having their transformation cog removed like the those Triple-M characters that Roberts have talked about coming up some time in the near future in MTMTE.

4) The Action Masters were a last ditch attempt to save the original line. so it's understandable that some people would have questions about them.

I have no idea. I was basically looking through the various toylines on Unicron.com and the TF Wiki and could find no evidence of the AM's being released in Japan

TF Wiki says - kinda yes:

Quote:
In 1992, however, a Japanese fan sculpted his own cannon accessory, which could plug into the figure's arm using the shoulder screw-hole (seen in the image at right). In a surprising move, Takara gave this cannon their approval and allowed it to be officially sold with their copyright stamp at a Japanese convention [which one?] for only one day, at the price of 2000 yen.

I thought i'd seen it in a book somewhere! still have his action master tank kicking about- suprisingly stylish for a toy of its time Smile

EDIT-also didn't know that there was a unofficial breakdown release of the sideswipe action master mold, that must be mega-rare!
