Got the TPB yesterday collecting all 4 issues, and thought this was a good story that could fit into most Joe continuities. True enough to traditional Snake-Eyes origins. Granted the Snake-Eyes/Roadbock pair-up is a bit artificial. But the story works. And lots of great action. Now what makes this a "prequel," as opposed to just another random story that happens to be set in the Joe movie continuity? Guess we wont know until the movie comes out. But Barber is the master of weaving things into and around convoluted movie continuity, so I'm sure this will hold-up. Regardless, this was worth the read -- solid, fairly self-contained story.
Not sure when this takes place in the movie-verse continuity -- must be before the Rise of Cobra movie, since Cobra Commander is still the Doctor (and still at large), and Zartan hasn't yet taken over the presidency. And the "several years ago" statement on page 1 is a pretty good indication of that. _________________ September 17, 1984. MTME Part I. The world changed forever.
