Hey Turtle Fans,

I'm a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan, and IDW is the best thing to happen to the series since the original movie.

I of course was a huge turtle nut in the 80's and early 90's but I never read the original comics. I absolutely LOVE the way IDW has told the story of how the turtles have come together thus far and what their past was like; Genius!

However, I never got to read the original comic series. Did they use that as the formation for how they came together, or was this sort of a new spin/twist/revamp of the story? Either way I love it, but I'm very curious.

Much better than the cartoon series version of how they came together, and better than the movie. I never thought it would be possible for a rat to just train in his cage from watching his owner (The first Movie),

The original comic origin is basically the same as the first movie. Main difference being Hamato Yoshi killed a man named Oroku Nagi in Japan when he walked in on him beating Tang Shen. Nagi's brother, Oroku Saki, vows vengeance and becomes The Shredder, getting his revenge years later.

Lot more to it than that. I recommend reading the old stuff, IDW's been reprinting it.

Thanks a ton. Also I'm a little confused about Issue #4.
Was this suppose to be the Leo one? Because it wasn't for my issue #4, it was them seeking out Ralph. Did I miss something?

I think you might have the main ongoing series confused with the micro-series. Both are currently being put out by IDW. #4 of the micro-series is set to feature Leonardo and hasn't been released yet whereas #4 of the main series does finish up the arc of the turtles' search for Raphael. Hope that clears things up.

I really like the new story but have always loved the original Mirage comics. I am writting comparison pieces where I will show similarities between the two versions of the Turtles. My first one will be out very soon. It will be posted to http://crossovercomics.ca along with the rest of my reviews. I am a guest writer for this blog which has not really covered TMNT. I will be giving the Turtles the love they need on this site. Please stay tuned.
