Shocked Preview. Gah. Didn't see THAT coming. Glad Duke didn't go that route with Vargas, trying to infect him.

I think that clinches it - the rule in Mass Effect is "don't **** with Aria", well here it's "don't **** with the Baroness".

Pretty decent wrap up. Finally got rid of the heirarchy, now it's just CC. Bludd surrendering to the UN, Tomax on the run, Storm Shadow missing. I enjoyed it a lot.

Shocked

Haven't read it yeat, though. Laughing The last Diamond shipment to Brazil brought me only GIJOE #11, so this and SE will problably only be delivered in one or two weeks from now. Sad

Anyway...

knowing this makes me happy. No respect for the status quo is the key for a great, epic series. The rebooted universe is in many ways similar to Walking Dead (the TV series). It's great, and in moments like this is know you're in for a good ride, but sometimes you are left wondering how much better it could be if they took more chances, made some more bold decisions.

But is the entire hierarchy of the council eliminated, or just those who were averse to/ a threat to Krake?

According to the Baroness... All of them. They were systamatiy elimitated by the Baroness... There none left. Unless they didn't get a complete list. I choose to believe that the Baroness it very thorough in her methods.

For those who haven't read it yet, the best pages are the preview, imho.

And Serpentor betrays Tomax and Bludd about the plot against Krake.
Baroness takes out the last council member.
We hear "Pythona" but we dont "see" her.

Bludd escapes and shoots a UN soldier to be captured by the UN and save his life from Baroness.

Tomax escapes on his corporate jet with the help of his CG men.

Storm Shadow is against Krake now with Snake Eyes.

Cobra Civil War and Cobra Command end with Tomax, Bludd, and Storm Shadow each with vendettas against Krake and Serpy, Baroness and Destro/Zartan (both not seen) staying with Cobra.

So Cobra is very public, conquered a country, defeated the joes, yet chaotic from within.

With this, more and more, I think Krake will not be the CC for very long. Maybe the Mad Monk will make a return. Why? Because you simply cannot have Storm Shadow, Tomax, and Major Bludd as rebels of Cobra for an extended period of time and you cannot have Storm Shadow and Snakeeyes as a combined lethal force lose to Zartan and CC. And the only way these baddies will return to Cobra is by having a new Cobra Commander. Krake isnt the type to welcome them back to the fold, er,coil. And its not like Destro is a big fan of him. And Zartan may seriously dislike him when he learns Krake's orders to kill Obi leads to a big target on his head from SS/SE. Also, Serpy is just in it to survive for himself and play his hand best and if given the chance, he'd rebel, too.

All that to say, it takes a mad monk to take down a Krake.

Wow! Never thought I'd see girl on girl action in the pages of a Joe comic. Laughing

Other good stuff:

1) Man, Baroness is sadistic. What she did to the remaining council member was twisted.

2) Liked seeing Tomax all cocky until he rec'd the verbal smackdown from the Commander.

3) Bludd on the run. I may be as twisted as the Baroness but I laughed out loud when Bludd shot the soldier in the face and then asked to be arrested.

Stuff I'm on the fence about:

1) I'm not so sure I like that the high command is at each others throats. Sure it builds great tension, but you can only go two ways with this. Either we lose Bludd and Tomax as part of Cobra or eventually they're accepted back. I like these guys with Cobra but it would bug me if they're accepted back into the fold with no lasting consequences. I guess you could eliminate CC and their slates are wiped clean with the new CC. However, I don't want to see another CC after Krake.

Krake will not be Cobra Commander very long, imho.

Why? Because Krake is well...Krake. He's just someone to fill the position. A character created for a plot device. Mad Monk, I predict, will do him in but then Mad Monk will never be CC because, well...he's Monk.

Cobra Commander needs to be, well...Cobra Commander, an actual person not a position.

With the current IDW universe how would you make that happen. Cobra Commander is a position and I believe Krake will be around for a while.
