How was it a fiasco? Good art is never a fiasco. Anyways, most comics these days have pin-up style art as opposed to a descriptive cover... _________________

| Ha it's funny when you type something without reading it then go back some hours later to read it and it doesn't match what you were thinking. Fiasco should have read controversy. Sorry for the confusion. I'm all for a good poster cover as well as the next reader. Long gone are the days when a cover would be an action scene from the interior with speech bubbles. I would just like said poster cover to actually pertain to the contents of the comic within. |

You guys have too many good questions. Geez.
Welcome, atomicgator!
1. We're trying to make Godzilla as big as we can! Transformers has been around for a while, we're still trying to build up Godzilla. A lot of that is of course up to us, but you guys getting the word out is key as well. Any and all word-spreading is GREATLY appreciated.
2. Right now all focus is on the new ongoing, and soon after, our first new mini of the year. There's possibility for some fun extra stuff too, but it will largely depend on what the market can support.
3. I don't know squat about Legendary movie!
Thanks so much for your support, Gator. I hope you'll stick around the forum and let us know how we're doing.
Hey Goji,
1. Just the first issue will be 28 pages. Note that i just said TWENTY-EIGHT. I was mistaken when I said the preview-prologue is 8 pages. It's 6 pages. My goof! Others will be standard 22 story pages.
2. There will be some humor, but I would say not much satire. At least I'm not seeing any in the scripts I have, or proposals. Commentary perhaps, but not much satire.
3. No plans for Red Bamboo. Don't expect to see any human characters directly from the films in the ongoing. That's actually something we're not allowed to do. Was able to squeak in Miki in Legends #3 as a 'cameo'.
You'll definitely see some less-than-noble human characters though.
Hi Mech,
The plan is for Simon to do the entire arc. Maybe we'll have a fill-in issue, but we'd like to avoid that. Of course, act of god could change that, but the story is completely broken down for the first year, and needs a consistent approach. _________________ "I've lost all the hamburgers." |

Hi Ebirahsmeg,
No comment on if KG, or any monster specifically will appear... gotta keep the element of surprise! That being said, GMK is not my favorite version of KG. That would be Destroy All Monsters.
Toho directs that suits/versions have to be consistent with their powers/origin. So we can't have, say, a Showa Mecha-G that isn't alien in origin. Other than that, we're pretty free to do as we please.
But no, we're not forced to use GMK KG.
Rhuen,
Art's Godzilla is not indicative of the Godzilla you will see in the interiors, necessarily. We basically let Art do whatever he wants!
MechaG,
Re: misleading covers. I certainly hope, and aim, for there to be no misleading covers. I would point to GAG and Legends. There was that GAG #4 cover that showed Gigan amongst other monsters, and he wasn't in the issue. I would consider that a small error, but that that cover still captured the spirit of the issue. I don't expect there to be any errors bigger than that regarding covers. We've got 12 issues plotted out, which was never the case with KOM, so there really shouldn't be any problem there. _________________ "I've lost all the hamburgers." |

This here caught my attention. Is there any way to summarize as to why without getting into any potentially sensitive business jargon? It seems like there's lots of missed opportunity for story-telling and establishing a concrete universe (not to mention licensing fees ). _________________ Godzilla, '62

That accounts for specific characters like Professor Murai (from MvsG and Ghidrah), but something like the Red Bamboo are just an organization and can be changed to fit a variety of settings and purposes, as long as they're a nuclear terrorist group that uses monsters as weapons. _________________ Godzilla, '62

Only question I've got is...
Any room in this new master plan for Chris Mowry to write some more 'Zilla?
Coz, we want that. Oh yeah. We. Want. that. _________________ Check out my page on DA http://hde2009.deviantart.com/

There's sort of a grey area as to how much we can directly reference characters and events from Toho films that are not directly licensed by us (i.e. the monsters). In short, we can do minor nods and homages, but not use those things as major plot points or important characters.
It's more complicated than that, but that's my basic knowledge. As such, outside actual monsters, we can only directly reference and incorporate so much.
I suspect that there could be more questions about this, but I'm afraid I won't have much more to say than what I'm saying right now.
Chris Mowry, eh? How much is he paying you?
Seriously though, Chris is a good buddy and yep— a very talented writer. Check out Legends #4 out this week for proof! Would love to get him going on more stuff. As mentioned before, how the new ongoing does will largely dictate the future of more Godzilla minis, etc. _________________ "I've lost all the hamburgers." |

Let's just say I receive a large woooden pallet of soup every third Wednesday of the month. Healthy, nutritious soup. Full of vitamins and protein.
Eagerly anticipating Chris' work on Legends (though I do believe it'll be a bit of a project trying to get hold of #4 where I am). Knowing he's a big fan of this property, and seeing the stellar team assembled for the book, it can't fail to be aces.
I shall cease my shameless gushing now...
... and get back to that soup! Ahh, delicious soup... _________________ Check out my page on DA http://hde2009.deviantart.com/

| QUestion: what are the chances of liscensing more monsters? and is it even possible to get the liscense for un-used monster designs like Bagan and Dogolas? and for that matter the Toho monsters that weren't in a Godzilla movie such as the Rebirth of Mothra series, the Yog monsters, War of the Gargantuans, and so forth? |

Hey Rhuen,
That's a question for business folks here. I know there are discussions about it, but don't know anything more than that.
I would imagine that we would go for better known monsters before more obscure choices, unless there was some sort of good-value 'deal' to be had. But i don't even know if Toho would license those monsters in the first place. _________________ "I've lost all the hamburgers." |

So The Sketch Cards Did Get Made- Bravo!!!
It's an awesome thing to see and the chance to get original sketch cards from 'the artist.
* Is Matt the only artist who did sketch cards?
* Are they in color or b/w?
I hope these go well and inspire more card sets for the kaijus - Very good news _________________ Frankie B Washington

Sorry to burst your bubble, fbwash, but there will be NO trading cards. Not covered in our licensing agreement. That copy was meant to be scrubbed, but it looks like marketing department missed it. It's not in Previews.
Fun idea though, right? _________________ "I've lost all the hamburgers." |
