Those movies just aren't going away. And after DOTM, with it's mega success, they aren't going to change either.
Like it or not, thanks to these films, we are going to be seeing a lot more of show stealing, young warrior mute Bumblebee and other takes on the giant piles of parts from the bayverse for the long haul.
Thanks to the huge profits from the movies Hasbro is bound to introduce elements of the movies into all forms of Tranformers media in the years ahead.
Hopefully, as this continues, they will at least look at the light at the end of the tunnel, the one version of Tfs to actually be awesome and still include the yellow vocally challenged allstar.
I am referring to Transformers Prime. In fact, this series is everything I wish the movies would have been. I actually LIKE BB in this show. And Megatron isn't a giant fondue pot, either.
So, what does everyone else think? Will the legacy of M Bay and his uber cash cow movies eventually strip Tfs of all that makes it attractive to the fan base or will the future find a more comfortable balance, as in Tf Prime?
Finally, what are the chances the movie plague will infect the comics again as it did with the bold new direction of ongoing 2 years ago?
EDIT: Mr Bay is coming back for a fourth movie...So I have decided to change the title of this thread appropriately, reflecting the future tense, echoing a warning from the future.
JUST what we needed now that the comics have gotten up off their !@#es and a new cartoon show is boldly telling actual stories!
Now we are certain to return to earth and the amazing humans in comic books and watch Bumblebee and his 24 cousins clog toy shelves for another 3 years! (Which reminds me, we'd better cancel the Prime series early so we are sure to have room on the shelves for those Bees!!!!) _________________ Monstrosity = The Tyrant: An Unexpected Journey.

You cant argue with figures. DOTM is in the top 5 most successful movies of all time and Hasbro and the movie studios are not going to change what they see as a wining formula although Bay himself changed his approach with DOTM with a lot less toilet humour but we still had the obligatory female shots. Reminds me a little bit about Spike and his ladies from the Ongoing when we got a similar shot of a lady.
TF Prime is a great show but I cant see their look slipping into the bayverse and I think MTMTE will have a more stylised non movie look while RID might have elements of the movie look there because Andrew did some of the movie books. I certainly see both books evolve over time from an art point of view.
I think both books will look amazing while the 4th movie from Bay is likely to be a case of same old same old. _________________

I think while the movies have their big influence, the big thing affecting the stories and the franchise is the Aligned continuity bible hasbro made so hopefully its got a good mix of ideas and stuff to take all the best or most reconisable from the films such as a mute bumblebee and mix it with other parts of the history of the franchise _________________

Letter to Hasbro from an actual Bumblebee.
Dear Hasbro,
I am an actual bumblebee and although the bumblebee community has greatly appreciated the years of attention brought upon us by your aptly named character Bumblebee, we of the bumblebee community have a grievance in regards to the sudden surge of over saturation of the character's popularity due to the recent Michael Bay films based on your franchise The Transformers.
It seems that an education program needs to be emplaced regarding the definition of what a real bumblebee is and what our function pertains to.
Allow me for a moment to explain a little. For centuries we've had the luxury of buzzing among the foliage at our leisure exercising our purpose to pollinate the innumerable amount of varieties of flowers that we believe you humans have taken for granted for far too long. It is a thankless job and many a brethren have died in our endeavors in account of predators, pesticides and the odd granny takin' the boot to us, but I digress.
This luxury, perhaps our tradition of bumblebee livelihood is now in jeopardy and it brings me no pleasure in discussing this with you. Recently, kids have been smacking us on the head and trying to transform us into cars or worse yet, robots! I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of humiliation fellow mates have suffered from broken limbs, paralysis and due to permanent markers, a lifelong autobot symbol tatooed on their thorax.
We of the bumblebee community feel it is your responsibility to respond to this horrible outbreak of bee crime and instill an education program regarding the difference between a Camero and an insect. We suggest that on every toy package you emplace of a picture of a real bumblebee and label it as such and label the toy as "Fake" Bumblebee.
Until our demands are met, consider the flowers outside of Hasbro unpollunated!
Sincerely,
An Actual Bumblebee

You know,
Hasbro is retarded to think they're making real money on Transformers.
I sent them a note awhile back telling them so. Not that it did much good.
Show of hands,
When you were a kid, how many times did you go see your favorite movie?
Two, three, four? Maybe even five times?! In theater!!!????
Really?????
Ok,
Now,
How many times did you or your kids drag you to see Transformers in theater?
Once???
Oh... there's one... Saw it twice did you??
So,
How much money is Hasbro not making?
I just had to comment. I'm permanently vacating the forum... in the near future. Bayformers 4 and 5,
Yes, the contract is for a pair,
Is the icing on the cake for me. Hasbro/ IDW/ Paramount wins. I am no longer a Transformers fan. _________________ Transform and roll out!!! |

Oh!
Wait!
You know what would be really awesome????
If sense we all actually agree Michael Bay sucks, if TF fans actually did something about him this time, or no one goes to see 4 forcing paramount to pull the plug on 5, or at least replace Bay for 5, or, why not reboot?
But, that's not gonna happen. People enjoy spending money on garbage...
And some don't even know it's garbage. _________________ Transform and roll out!!! |

I watched them three times in the cinema. Once for each film.
Seriously dude, I love your ego. But not as much as it loves itself. _________________

I think I watched all of them once. And got them on dvd (except for the third one, which I still have to get... sometime).
Transformers 3: more funny with sister. I still remember how we sat in the cinema watching that scene where whatserface... the girl - Carly - gets captured in the car and you get those tentacle thingies and my sister said, "ohhh I've seen enough hentai movies to know where this is going!" _________________

O_o my my.
Lol, the movies were ok. I liked the first one. The second one **cough** had its moments, and then it had some forgetable elements.
The third better than two, still not as good as the first.
Hollywoods Bayformers only gave the die hard fans a few nods.
Movies were designed to draw in the mass movie going public and most people only remember Optimus Prime, so, yeah.
If anything the movies made so much money we die hards get the trickle effect. = MTMTE, RID, & Autacracy. All superior to anything paramount has given us. Better than the old cartoons. And so far the best TF yet.
Now if they would just dig into those deep bay verse filled pockets and give us some G1/IDW movies. Straight to DVD is fine.
