Yep .. it ain't Cobra without Fuso.
Anyhoo, that aside I enjoyed the story and feel Costas and Dixon are really hitting the mark with this series. _________________ The Rev on YOUTUBE

I like cover A. I feels like another Joe book because it is suppose to be... they are writing one story over 3 books over 3 months. I think it's a great way to tell a story in a more compact fashion.
I find it interesting that this issue feels like it is 1/3rd Snake Eyes, 1/2 Cobra and 1/5th GI Joe. It seemed like those Issue 0's before the launch of 3 titles, but since it continues one story line and works together I kind of like it...for now...I'm sure that I will be tired of the novelty of it by March... _________________ Author: Karate is Self-Defense Available at Amazon.com. I've only read the preview and it's pretty sparse in the scripting/ plot arena but the art is awesome. Feels like Dixon, though. _________________ Thank-you IDW for supporting G.I. Joe: the revamp and ARAH. Here's to forty-nine years of adventure! |

Our math teacher used this as a problem for our kids today... so thanks, in a roundabout way! They figured out that the calculation would be 1/3 Snake Eyes, 1/2 Cobra, 1/6 Joe because you'd need to convert to an LCD of 30 then reduce...
10/30, 15/30, X/30 and X=5, so reduction to 1/3, 1/2, and 1/6.
I have no idea if this is right; I teach reading and writing and as such have nothing about the issue so far. I agree with the art comics, and don't even care for the way Helix is drawn, and I don't like her to start with - she doesn't look like a "young girl;" she looks like a washed up 30something 80s throwback. Pick an age and stick with it, folks... if she's in her early 20s, make her LOOK early 20s.
Who says comic books and forums aren't educational?

I was rounding more so yeah 1/6 1/3 = 1/2. _________________ Author: Karate is Self-Defense Available at Amazon.com. Kindle Version Coming Soon. |

I really enjoyed this issue. Still loving the artwork. I could have done with more scripting and less helix. But I love the new cobra commander. I love Arah, but I like this commander better. I can believe a person such as he could run a powerful terrorist organization. _________________ Thank-you IDW for supporting G.I. Joe: the revamp and ARAH. Here's to forty-nine years of adventure! |

First off, I just want to thank IDW from the bottom of my heart for coming up with the COBRA Command story that spans all three titles and features the same artist in each. The one thing I could not stand about the COBRA title was Fuso's art. I find it hard to identify the characters he draws and following his action scenes is VERY difficult. I'm an old school art guy and that will never change, especially with the only comic I've ever cared to collect.
Cal, on the other hand, is doing a fantastic job! As I said before, he gives great attention to detail and with a few exceptions you can tell who is who without having to rely on the dialogue to somehow sort it out. Still don't like having Iceberg drawn like Alpine, and vice-versa. Hopefully he has noticed this and it will be corrected in the next issue.
What I find interesting so far in this COBRA Command story, is that the issues have a feel of all three titles in them. Not so much in Joe #9, but in Snake Eyes #9 you could start to see the distinction, and here it is even more so. The COBRA scenes were very well done (and drawn incredibly well!) and had the usual Costa feel to them. I groaned at seeing Destro at first, but there was no mention of his activities in Joe #8 and Costa utilized him in a sensible way. Also liking how CC's strategy is slowly unfolding. As I said before, while the creation of COBRA island in the ARAHverse was a great story and led to so many future plots, IDW has done a more realistic take of COBRA becoming their own sovereign nation, assuming that is even what CC is trying to do.
Poor Bludd. Getting bitched out by Destro and then disrespected by CC. To top it all off, Tomax makes fun of him afterwards. How deep must his bitterness run right about now? He went from being named CC to being practically Mr. Insignificant. I'm interested to see if he is willing to do anything about it.
This wasn't a typical COBRA issue, but then again it really wasn't meant to be. We still got the intrigue and dialogue we have come to love from Costa and MUCH better art. I'm probably in the minority, but I am not looking forward to Fuso returning. At all.
G.I. Joe: ARAH - Gallant
COBRA - Cal
Snake Eyes - Atkins
G.I. Joe - Rosado
Make it happen IDW!! |
