Basically inside the front cover of every issue at the bottom is a list. I believe we can safely assume this list is all the monsters that IDW has the liscense rights to use (as several have yet to appear in the main comic "Kingdom of Monsters" with cameos and such in the other titles so far).

What this thread is asking, is if you could choose any three Toho monsters not on that list that you would like to see show up in "Kingdom of Monsters" or other Godzilla comic titles which would they be?
*keeping in mind one rule for the discussion here if you don't mind in order to keep potential flaming down*

this is in no way asking for replacements for monsters already on the list.

To be clear and have it here.

the list inside the cover that they have the rights for are.

Godzilla
Anguiras
Battra
Destroyah
Gigan
Hedorah
King Ghidorah
Kumonga
Mecha-Godzilla
Mothra
Rodan
Space-Godzilla
Titanosaurus

To get the ball rolling, the three monsters I would like to see added to this list are

King Caesar *ancient god golem ShiShi statue*
(and is the only "friendly" to Godzilla monster not in the list already; not counting robots or Zone Fighter)

Biollante *giant shape shifting plant/Godzilla/human hybrid*

and

....well I am at a loss, I was thinking "Kiryu" but I wander if that just counts for Mecha-Godzilla, but given its specific history is what makes it different not sure how that would work. I was thinking Mothra-Leo...but maybe "Mothra" includes its shape shifting offspring...maybe not.

King Caesar and Biollante are my two big wishes, but given my own rules I would make a third either Baragon or Bagan...

actually that also raises the question, could they use a monster that was made; but was dropped from its movie for Godzilla and Battra so never actually has had a movie apperance...

actually yes, I solidify my third as Bagan. the fabled lost monster of Toho that was supposed to fight Mothra but for some reason was never put into another picture; a comic book debut sounds poetic.

So my three, King Caesar, Biollante, and Bagan.

to re-iterate, what are your three, and why?

I'd love to see Biollante as well. I'd also like to see Gorosaurus, Megalon, Orga (with saucer, they make a good team Wink ) Megagurius, Varan and two odd choices, Bagan, who was created for but never appeared in the Toho series and Burtannus, a creature that appeared in the Dark Horse comics series issue #13 kind of cool design on that one. Any thoughts? Very Happy

Baragon!
While a lot of the monsters mentioned are pretty great, Baragon (especially if you play up the tunneling) could be a very different and interesting fight.

Seeing a Baragon/Varan/Anguirus vs Godzilla fight (the orignal GMK cast) would make me a particularly giddy fanboy.

As a side note, it has been nice to see Anguirus getting plenty of attention so far. I have really been looking forward to Gigan and some of the other characters coming in to play, but it would be a shame to rush through them just so the whole roster and more can make use of licenses. So i wouldn't mind if they don't add anyone to the roster.

JET JAGUAR!! ...but only if they use him to reenact the famous panel from "Knightfall" featuring Bane and Batman.

Jet Jaguar would fill in for Batman and i would happy with anyone (from Gabara to Charles Barkley) taking the role of Bane. Wink

YES! I would be eternally grateful to idw if they did this. GMK was a great Godzilla film, but I think it could have been even better if they had included Varan (My favorite monster) and Anguirus. So this must be done! I would die of happiness if this was announced it. Only then, I wouldn't be able to read the comic.

I think pics can help for those unfamiliar with our choices.

You may look at the list and think, "well that's most everyone isn't it" most people may only thing of a few of the more well known names, namely the few that were in the video games that didn't get in.

Toho has MANY monsters, most though connected with their own one shot movies or tv shows like Zone Fighters (I don't think IDW could get Mazinger or Zone Fighter if they wanted to LoL).

Well in semi-Alphabetical order, those not in the comics. and some info so you can look them up, or try to find the movies

Bagan (-was going to be in Mothra vs Bagan, script was re-worked to be "Godzilla and Mothra Battle for Earth")

Biollante( first movie: Godzilla vs Biollante)
-a giant plant, hybrid between Human/RoseBush/Godzilla

Baragon (first movie: Frankenstein conquers the world)
-dinosaur like monster that burrows through the ground

Ebirah (first movie: Godzilla vs the Sea Monster)
-giant lobster

Godzilla Jr./Minilla/Minya (first movie: Son of Godzilla)
-okay yes I know "officially Godzilla jr and Minilla arn't the same monster according to Toho, but once I saw "Godzilla vs Space Godzilla" I said, "I don't care what they say, that's the same monster. The difference is less than that between 1970's Godzilla and Godzilla 2000.

Gorosaurus (first movie: King Kong escapes)
-rather generic looking dinosaur, size varies alot between apperance but can do a kangaroo kick

Jet Jaguar (first movie: Godzilla vs Megalon)
-Ultraman knock off, the result of a kid contest for a new monster

Kamacuras (first movie: Son of Godzilla)
-Giant Praying Mantis, american dub called them "Gi-Mantis". Honestly with Kumonga on the list I was surprised Kamacuras didn't make it

King Caesar (first movie: Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla)
-Golem god ShiShi

Manda (first movie: Atragon)
-like a chinese dragon mixed with a sea serpent, one of the few monsters that wasn't a guy in a rubber suit.

Mechani-Kong (first movie: King Kong Escapes)
-robot King Kong, yeah legal issues he aint' getting in any sooner than a giant King Kong would.

Megaguirus (first movie: Godzilla vs Megaguirus...with a note, the larval soldierd Meganulon were first seen in "Rodan", the winged Meganulon and Megaguirus came many decades later)
-giant dragonfly, also infamous for being a flying monster on a visible line in a movie past the year 2000

Megalon (first movie: Godzilla vs Megalon)
-Giant beetle with drill hands (can even switch between wrists somehow when holding hands together to form one big drill, lightning horn, and fire balls)

Moguera (first movie: The Mysterians, a remodled version would be seen in Godzilla vs Space Godzilla)
-a giant drilling robot

Oodaku (first movie: Godzilla vs King Kong)
-its a giant octopus

Orga (first movie: Godzilla 2000)
-alien that uses Godzilla cells to turn into a giant monster, personally I think the cloverfield monster is an anarexic knock off of this monster

Varan (first movie: Varan the Unbelievable)
-giant reptillian flying squirrel

Zilla *AKA Gino* (first movie: Godzilla "1998")
-giant dino-lizard, Toho offically re-named this monster "Zilla" and even had it in the movie (Godzilla Final Wars).
There is also a Zilla jr, from the American cartoon that came after the movie that has fire breath.

Toho has a few others, some like a random giant condor in "Godzilla vs the Sea monster" which I couldn't find an official name for, and many smaller monsters; none of the smaller ones seem to have nay ties to the Godzilla films. but there are two odd balls out that due to stock footage cameos and one monster seen dead in Final Wars do have some connection.

The Gargantuans (first movie: War of the Gargantuans)
-basically 300 foot tall bigfoots, a brown one which is nice to humans and lives on land, a green one which eats humans and lives in the water.

The Yog monsters (first movie: Space Amoeba, sometimes released as "Yog Monster from Space" trying to play it off like a Lovecraftian monster)
- these are three monsters
Gezora: a giant cuttlefish, which can even walk on land and has ice powers, considered by fans as the main monster of this movie.
Ganime: a giant crab, not much else, it gets blown up with dynamite, and a second one is created. Spits out seafoam
Kamoebas: a giant turtle. A dead one is in Tokyo SOS

There are also three models of Mecha-Godzilla, not much difference besides background.

Final wars also gives us: Monster-X which transforms into the giant quadraped three headed dragon "Keiser Ghidorah".

and the Rebirth of Mothra movies give us three other Ghidorahs.

-Des Ghidorah (a quadraped, smaller than Keiser Ghidorah), also known as "Death Ghidorah"

-Grand King Ghidorah (not that much different from King Ghidorah to be honest, only this ones like a cross between Galactus and King Ghidorah *feeds on life essence.

-Cretacious King Ghidorah (okay a picture speaks louder on this odd one)
http://images.wikia.com/godzilla/images/8/8c/Cretaceous_King_Ghidorah.jpg

The Rebirth of Mothra movies also have the pollution monster
Dagarah
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080406203202/godzilla/images/f/fb/Dagahra.jpg

which also sheds off tiny star fish like parasites that are acidic.

the Rebirth of Mothra movies give us also Mothra-Leo *which is kind of odd in that through out the rebirth series it gains "power-ups" for lack of a better term. Aqua-Mothra, Armor Mothra, Rainbow Mothra, Eternal Mothra

I thought the same thing when the original line-up was announced. But if i had to pick one, I would choose Kumonga over Kamacuras. Depending on how licensing worked, it probably made sense not to grab two "giant bugs" and i can't think of any i would be willing to give up for the addition of Kamacuras.

Looking back over the original line-up i think they did a good job picking who to license.

Personally i would have loved to see Baragon on the list instead of Titanosaur, but really, Baragon is probably too similar to Anguirus, whereas Titanosaur gives us a powerful underwater Kaiju.

There really doesn't seem to be a point to having Megaguirus when you already have Battra, Mothra and Rodan... but i wouldn't mind seeing a Meganulon infestation pop up.

Gorosaurus/Ebirah/Varan - All rather "vanilla", but come with alot of flexibility if done properly and could really help amp up a story depending on how they're used. I've always found Gorosaurus in particular to be quite charming.

Megalon - A really spiffy backstory and his design just seems to naturally compliment Gigan. They make a fantastic duo and Megalon as a decent fanbase stateside.

King Caesar - Another monster with a mythology with lots of potential for cool story telling. Looks cool and he's a mammalian/statue kaiju would really help break up the waves of dinosaurs and big bugs.

Minya - Love Minya. Minya gives the entire concept of a "Son of Godzilla" alot of credit and his personality helps define him from being just a smaller version of Godzilla.

Mecha-King Ghidorah - He looks really really really cool.

No, seriously, bro.

Vile? Minya's adorable and his cowardly and naturally friendly disposition compliments Godzilla's grumpy and antagonistic demeanor. Not to mention the design helps distinguish Minya as a different species and was adopted.

Just because Minya was played lighter in the films doesn't mean he has to be. There is material for a great character if you play him right.

It's wonderful that they're coming back. They are not only one of the best aspects of the seventies films, but they're one of the better invaders that Toho created. Their backstory is rich with narrative potential and the space gorilla's/shape-shifters are a novel concept. Also, a possibility of a classic Mechagodzilla coming back.

Since when does bringing back Minya mean it brings back any little kids? That doesn't make any sense.
