Well, its that time of year again. My Top 5 1/2 anticipated comics of 2012 include projects from IDW, Valiant, Image Comics, Dynamite & DC Comics Relaunch 2.0. Wink

Sadly, no Marvel Comics on the list. Marvel may well wow me with their Spring or Summer announcements. I’m hoping for a Sojourn and another Ruse book under their CrossGen banner in 2012. I am crossing my fingers, but until announced I can’t put them on this list.

I am really happy to be dipping my toes into independent publisher’s pond again. Over 80% of my list are in the "independents" field. With IDW taking up 2 slots. So happy about that.

And, a big one involves a John Byrne property! The other a Hasbro property.

What are you looking forward to in 2012?

I'm really looking forward to Dynamite's The Shadow in 2012.

Assuming it comes out in 2012.

What else? Hmm...

From IDW I'm looking forward to the two new Transformers ongoing series and hoping they live up to the hype. Also looking forward to whatever comes of G.I. Joe's 30th Anniversary. Looking forward to IDW signing a digital distribution deal with Nickelodeon so they can publish Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles digitally on ComiXology.

From DC I'm looking forward to the culmination/conclusion of Scott Snyder's "Court of Owls" story arc in Batman. Also, the Swamp Thing/Animal Man crossover. Looking forward to Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis continuing to astonish on Aquaman, and Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang continuing to thrill with Wonder Woman. Also looking forward to "The Curse of Shazam" backup feature in Justice League.

From Marvel, I'm looking forward to ...

From Dark Horse I'm looking forward to ... You know what would be great, if Dark Horse could pull their collective heads out of their @$$es and start telling great stories with the Aliens and Predator franchises. And they don't have to be at war with one another to do that.

Marvel, umm...

...

Gosh, what aren't I looking forward to? Transformers: More than Meets the Eye has the distinct position of actually outranking the new ElfQuest as "upcoming release I'm most excited about" and I cannot begin to express how remarkable that is. But yeah, ElfQuest: The Final Quest (!!!) comes after that. And then it's, um... Transformers: Robots in Disguise and Regenerations, that excellent new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series (seriously if you have even a passing interest in TMNT, check it out, it's great!) and more Dungeons & Dragons. Lessee... do new editions of old stuff count? I hear there's a wonderful hardback edition of Last Stand of the Wreckers coming out soon...

I look forward to more Locke & Key.

I also keep my fingers crossed for more of Starstruck, by Elaine Lee and Michael Kaluta, and Ben Templesmith's Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse.
As long as there's hope...

My most anticipated are already here with a few on the way.

All of GI Joe: Cobra Command -- seriously, can this series get any better!

All of TF!

And as a devout constant reader, I can't wait for Stephen King's Road Rage to hit next month!
