I figured this would be a fun way to lead up to ANGEL: YEARBOOK. Let's list our top ten moment of IDW's ANGEL. I'm doing a blog feature on it, giving a few numbers per day. You can read that here: http://tinyurl.com/3lcvptd

List yours right in the thread! Don't be afraid to give honorable mentions, 'cause I know I did Smile

Is it IDW from Angel:After the Fall and onwards from there, and only Angel related, as in ongoing or does it also include historical mini series/and Spike stuff?
Or is it a "anything goes!" a.k.a all of IDW's Angel stuff, from the very beginning? I'll edit in mine no10 and 9 later on. It might take a minute (or more) to figure out a decent list first...

I'll do my list as picking among of all IDW's Angel comics, not only the series.

10. Angel:Only Human #1
Illyria tries to be something other than just a physical copy of Fred.
I realy enjoyed when she tested her travel outfits for Gunn, for him to evaluate. A pity she went for the casual look: jeans, jumper and a caps instead of the dress Smile .
It showed that Illyria coulb be something else but "The Leather Queen".
Just a pity that all her later apperances in the series have been very action related, therefor demanding the leather outfit. Maybe, in the first issue of Angel:Illyria:Haunted, but hard to think of any other non-actions scenes, regarding Illyria.

9. Angel:Blood & Trenches #2
An excellent cliffhanger page! Really not much of one, if you think about it for a little while,
Quote:
since we all know that both Angel and Kakistos makes it out of it alive in the end.

But it's well set up and for those of us not walking around as living wikipedias, it's a very good set-up for the other half of the series. And the art by John Byrne! A shame, that we wont see any such projects anymore.
(Spoiler added, since maybe not everyone's read that series. But they should! Buy Angel: John Byrne collection!)

Here we go! My two first on the list. Hopefully, more to come...

I think every scene in After the Fall was a memorable moment in itself. It would be way too hard to pick just ten. Specially since most of my ten would probably relate to Illyria and Wesley.

Is the yearbook out yet?

Include anything! I'm doing the whole IDW run in my countdown.

And YEARBOOK isn't out yet. I'm fairly sure things will be a bit busier over at this forum when it does come out Smile

Which, yay, is this coming Wednesday.

8. SPIKE:AFT 3
I just loved the Illyria's reaction on Non's attempted execution of her.
It is perfectly fine to be captured, tortured, inprisonated, humililated and so on : but being forced to kneel infront of her supposed headman. NOT HAPPY at all!
(Yes, I like Illyria...)

7. Angel #3
The most shocking cliff hanger of them all. He's been human every second in Hell, just because W&H wants to mess with him. And still he was getting the job done.
Damn, was I looking forward to read #4 at that moment? Yes, a little bit... (sarcasme)

6. Angel #12
The Shanshu prophesy, delivered by W&H (giving us enough doubt for believe that it's 100 % true), through Wes.
Finally we se how a possible outcome of how it could all play out in the end.
And wow, if this isn't the right time for doing a 2-page splashpage, then never is the time for that.

(just for the record: I found "mine" favourite 10 moments quite quickly after your first post pshand, so any similar postings in the top 5 will be just that: a coincidence in taste Smile )

I'll "cheat" a little bit and put mine next two ones before pat..

5. Spike:Shadow Puppets #1
" I really hate... ...official cannon".
Yeah, I know it's such an oldie but it holds up pretty good still... (or atleast on my list).
Brian Lynch,at that point of time, shows that Asylum was no one-hit-wonder, and he continues to deliver good stories.
(These days around, you're allowed to hate (or if not hating, disliking) official canon, if you want to, right? Cool )

4. Spike #5
Reunion with Willow. And a bunch of cats!
Not much to say here, sorry.

Bugger! Two entries, and they're both with Spike (Silly me started out thinking this was an Angel Top-10 list. Well, can't be helped).
I'll try to make up for it with the medal winning moments of IDW's Angel run...

3. Angel 17
The end of Angel:After the Fall, and Angel is gonna keep on fighting the good cause, regardless of prophesies and all that. It was really a good THE END for those whose jumped off then, and a good point for carry on telling stories for those who decided to stay with IDW.
Personally, I regard this also as THE END of Angel Season 6, since AtF is basically a compressed movie version (A two and a half hour epic blockbuster movie version) of what that could have been like.

2. Angel 44
The end of IDW's Angel, and I like the reimagening of #17 final page, and to also have with us all of the the members of Angel Investigation, that had passed away, in that final moment.
Personally, I also kind of regard this as THE END of Angel Season 7.
With #18-44, various mini series and the Spike series, there's enough material out there to have the content of a "Season".
But counting such stuff only matters, if you're a little bit pedantic like me Smile .

(And since Buffy S8 happens after Angel #44, we ( or atleast I Smile ) can regard Buffy S8 also as "the lost Season 8" of Angel. Since I'm pretty confident that Connor would have kept Angel Investigation up and running, even with his dad missing/away on a mission or something like that.)
And so we move on to Angel:Season 9, with DH as the showrunners.
(Yes, I know. The title is Buffy Season 9: Angel & Faith (correct ?), but why let facts ruin a perfectly good post? Wink )
And I've set a new personal record for use of emicons in one post, huzza for me!

These are really awesome, love reading them.

Got me thinking of when Joss told me moments he liked in the first 2 ASYLUMs. They were Issue 1's Spike taking the job because the Monahans confused him with Angel and Issue 2's Spike giving his protective ear piece to Beck instead of protecting himself.

I am completely unable to make a proper Top 10, but these are some of my favourite scenes / things:

- Spike Asylum: Spike realising with George's help why the name of Ruby Monahan sounded familiar and how her parents tricked him. And how they were in the right to do it. (Great character moment.)

- Spike After the Fall: Spike's first encounter with Cordelia the Dragon (funny); Illyria killing Jeremy (shocking).

- Angel After the Fall: Connor's death (tragic, heart wrenching) closely followed by Angel's death (another shocker; I particularly loved Spike's reaction); Cordelia's breeze (touching); Angel and Spike's Shanshu conversation in the car (just a wonderful moment of mutual understanding).

- The Drusilla issues. I can't pick a specific moment from them, but I loved the issues in their entirety, simply because they were so different and looked so gorgeous.

- Illyria Haunted: the crayon memory/dream (great art choice); Illyria seeking advice from Angel and Spike (the different ways they reacted were just spot-on).

After compiling this list I've read Pat's and Bovy's, and I would like to add that:

- I thought about mentioning the Official Cannon scene but decided not to (but I'm glad Bovy did)

- I agree about the final scene of Angel #44 and should have thought of that one myself.

- I also loved the rooftop moment between Angel and Connor. I guess the most recent Angel issues just haven't had enough time to sink in yet. (Same for Spike's, btw.)

1. Angel 15
The death of Connor left me very numbed. Here's the only person for Angel, that he would do anything to protect and care for.. and he's dead.
It's such a powerful moment. It also left me so exited for the next issue, because what would be Angel's reaction to this? Almost anything could be possible and plausible,
which also makes that last page a perfect cliff hanger. Not a fan of US monthly issues, but in this case: completly perfect.
(A bit morbid Confused , to have a characters death as a top moment, but for me, not when I think about the consequences it sets off.)

Honorable Angel Momenents, that didn't make The Top 10 List (mentioned randomly):
- Angel 1 Gunn is a vampire. I didn't pay attention to leaked TV-Season 6 rumours, so this was new to me.
- Illyria:Haunted 3 Drogyn's work replacement is an "old lady", knitting away in a rocking-chair.
- Angel 33 James shows that he can be an useful character, afterall.
- Angel 26 The "remaking" of Not Fade Away's final scene.
- Angel 5 The appearence of Fred.

in no particular order:
- Illyria's comment about wanting another pet "perhaps a cat" at the end of "Only Human". Blue does have a sense of humour after all.
- Ryall flying away on Cordy the Dragon in the Yearbook.
- The beginning of Spotlight: Illyria where she is asking the judge about "justice", it's just such an imperious thing to do, so in character.
- Fred/Illyria the puppet and her bizarre "both Fred and Illyria" reaction to see Spike and Lorne.
- "Last Angel in Hell" the film adaptation.
- Cordy's speech to a dying Angel.
- The dragon thinking it's name is Cordelia (and the whole mystery about the dragon's name leading up to the revelation).
- The cover of Spike flicking the durry into Angel's grave while others mourn.
- Wes' redemption.
- Angel, now human, still kicking arse and taking names.

An honourable mention goes Illyria's "super-saiyan" mode at the end of Illyria: Haunted.
