I refuse to buy these. I think it is sick and totally against what Star Trek represents.

Besides, if they want to do a zombie comic, use the borg. They are cybernetic zombies and can be used while sticking to Trek values.

Actually, it felt more like a TOS episode than most Star Trek comics I've read. I reminded me of episodes like "Operation: Annihilate" and "Miri".

The zombie thing is overdone. I'm tired of everyone doing it. Now they drag star trek in. Trek should be out exploring, not having horror crossovers. Trek movies and shows have also always been something you can have the family watch. The comics should be something I would let my kids read.

I laugh whenever someone sprouts this line because apart from watching Dawn of the Dead in 2002, playing Dead Rising in 2006 and watching The Walking Dead last year, I've had zero exposure to zombies.

I honestly don't know what people are talking about.

I mean, why do you think Walking Dead was so popular? Because there aren't any other Zombie TV shows.

And apart from the Of The Dead movies and the Resident Evil movies, there aren't exactly a lot of zombie movies floating about.

There are many more zombie movies and video games out there. I could recite names and will if you like but there has been a blitz in recent years that form a list quickly. How many times can you redo zombies or the walking dead? Even if there were numerous new and interesting plots available, that doesn't mean trek should be mixed in. Trek should not be lowered to the level of horror-thriller.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_zombie_films

Here are some since 2000:
The Dead Hate the Living
Versus
Wild Zero
Stacy
28 Days Later
Battlefield Baseball
Undead
Dawn of the Dead
Shawn of the Dead
Dead & Breakfast
Land of the Dead
Fido
Mulberry Street
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead
REC
Dead Snow
Zombie Strippers
Zombieland

and the list goes on . . .

Then there are Zombie video games:

So, yes, this genre has been used to death and then raised from the dead and killed again.

Which, if you think about it, is quite rather fitting.

The fun thing about these two issues is that a) they stand alone, b) they harken back to the Gold Key Comics days (covers especially), and c) play out like a Zombie movie (to start) before turning into a TOS episode.

And that last point is quite unlike the prior time the undead showed up in Trek comics (which was, not coincidentally, in the Gold Key series...)

It's a fun series, short, and I bought them pretty much exclusively for the Gold Key covers. Smile

So why not do a borg series and give it a zombie feel without being too horror-centric? Y'know, Trek with a zombie twist instead of the other way around?

Trek should be boldly going where no man has gone before, not blindly following the herd.

It's not as if they didn't do something incredibly rare in zombie fiction like cure the infection or anythiing like that.
