because the Transformers version has been interesting.
Lets be controversial but polite, please?

Anyway, to get things started:
I don't like, and have never really liked, Snake-Eyes. As a nipper I always liked the likes of Destro and Dial-Tone more then S-E, much to the mockery of my friends.

I'm also rather partial to Andrew Wildman's art. I know people call it "Liefield" as an insult and all, but that era of artwork was the one that was vogue when I was a nipper (showing my age there).

G.I. Joe Renegades is a terrible show.

Duke is not that great of a character.

I also dig Andrew Wildman's art.

I prefer Ripcord as a black guy.

I like Duke and Scarlett as an item.

Agree that G.I. Joe: Renegades is a terrible show.

Duke is a great character. The Best. Period.

I enjoy the sci-fi elements in Chuck Dixon's G.I. Joe comic.

1) Andrew Wildmans art is great
2) DDP run happened. New IDW RAH is a alternate reality that never happened
3) IDW Chuck Dixon version "season 1" needs to be ignored more then the DDP run and officially started with "season 2". I cry "do over" IDW. Then I can pretend season 1 never happened like the Highlander 2 movie.

1) I liked the ROC movie, it was a fun different take on Joe.
2) Larry Hama is NOT the only person who can write G I Joe. In fact he wrote some really bad stories between 116 and 151.
3) I liked the DDP run. Still official continuity for me until I see how the IDW RAH version goes.
4) Duke is one of my favorite characters (better than Snake Eyes).
5) I thought Andrew Wildman was the last great artist on the book in the 90s. It went downhill FAST after that.
6) Never really liked the Dreadnoks.

Ninja Force isn't a bad idea per ce, after all GI Joe is all about specifically trained teams doing specific missions. A team of Ninjas would make sense, as would a team of hackers or saboteurs. People trained in arctic conditions and people trained in jungle fighting. Arguably, given that it only lasted for half a dozen or so issues,it didn't outstay it's welcome but it did come at the time when ninjas were everywhere, making it look like a crass cash-in, and the way it was marketed lent strength to that argument.

The toys made a small mis-step in that era too - no holes in the back for backpacks. I suspect it was to make room for the ninja mechanism (the slash-y arms or kick-y legs and so forth) but it did annoy me as a nipper that it restricted playability.

I think Helix is an interesting addition to the saga.

I like the female Dial-Tone.

This is my favorite thread on the Joe boards.

The "slow burn" intro of Cobra was fine to me. However...it could have been done a LOT better. By letting the Joes face non Cobra threats for one thing.

Gung-Ho could destroy COBRA single handedly and does not do so simply to make his friends feel like they matter.

The Fensler Film spoofs are the only good thing that came out of the ARAH cartoon. BODY MASSAGE!

Serpentor is cool.

The original Dr. Mindbender is a fantastic design.

Larry Hama somehow lost "it" when he had CC return in the classic book and the slide down into the abyss was very quick (and very sad) soon after.

Rachel Nichols is my new girlfriend.

I agree with all three of these.

Marvel/DDP run is the official beginning and ending of ARAH storyline.

IDW ARAH is inferior. (so far)

MASS is "tolerable" in IDW run, and for the most part all the sories in the IDW Joe verse have rocked.

Snake Eye is usually way overused and is not the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I like Hawk better than Duke. In both the Marvel/DDP universe and the IDW Joe verse. He has a lot of weight to bear on his shoulders.

The Firefly reveal in the marvel run was a great twist and good story telling. Seriously, of all the tie-ins to Snake Eyes’ history, this is still a good one.

I like Firefly as a ninja.

Being a ninja and a commando are NOT mutually exclusive. This goes for both Firefly and Snake Eyes.

I like Spirit in his original stereotypical uniform/look. I hope sideshow does him in 1/6 scale in his original uniform.

Actually, on those grounds it works well for Firefly to be a Ninja, he's the anti-Snake-Eyes (moreso then Storm Shadow, at least in that continuity).
