|
|
Alright, I know from skimming the 'net after we saw the Riley one-shot yesterday that there is confusion and many questions out there, and I want to do the best I can to assuage any immediate fears. We issued the formal press release that does confirm what was run in that issue, that Angel will be leaving IDW and going to Dark Horse in late 2011. But beyond the corporate messaging, I want to be as honest with everyone as I can be -- even as I remind you that we've got lots of big things coming in Angel and Spike -- so I'd like everyone to post questions here. I'll answer every one of them best I can over the weekend, and we'll run the whole thing at the IDW site early next week.
And remember, licenses do come and go--that's the nature of licensed comics--but this one ain't going anywhere until mid-2011. So hopefully you can all still enjoy what we've got coming up for months to come.
Anyway, fire away -- thanks. If you post at other Whedon sites and want to spread the word, I'll take on all comers. _________________ Chris Ryall

So, IDW is giving up the entire license then? No further Angel-related mini-series or character spotlights? And does that mean that the Spike series will run from October 2010 to mid-2011 at the latest?
Thank you for taking questions! _________________ :: Please, visit my Deviantart gallery. :: |

Good question. Also, if there isn't, I call dibs. |

1. Will Dark Horse respect and honor what has happened in the Angel comics at IDW?
2. What happens to the Spike series?
3. How exactly did this happen? This being Dark Horse acquiring the license. _________________ http://patrickshand.blogspot.com/ |

Just a reminder - the IDW forum has a simple rule about posting. You can say what you like about a comic, but when you talk about a person you have to couch all criticism in constructive terms. No personal attacks. If it'd get you punch in the pub, it's not allowed here, basically.
This is going to be an issue that gets blood running, and tempers flaring. |

I've tried to kill Tony so many times and the bastard just. won't. DIE.
That sounded maybe a little too violent, yeah? I love you, Tony. |

I think we need to hit him with a moon. He's like Chewbacca but less hairy and better dressed. |

I'm confused. Wasn't Allie himself the one that released the news?
This whole things sounds a bit uglier (understandably so) than the "coordinated team affair between the two companies" tone of the press release (for instance, Willingham leaving becomes a bit clearer), but... Business and politics and all that, I suppose. No need to get into that can of worms. Point is:
Thanks for all the fun, IDW! You all did a great job.

If we don't mention that, noone will remember it.

It's not past-tense yet, guys, no wakes yet! Lots more to come from us.
Not to get into replying here, but let me just state that Bill Willingham on or off the book had absolutely nothing to do with this decision. I'm very proud and happy with what Bill was able to do for us.
Anyway, no more Who talk, let's keep this focused. _________________ Chris Ryall
