This board is deader then the Joe board use to be. I was hoping the series might last more then 12 issues. I just started rewatching season 1 on dvd this week when the issue came out. I hear crickets in this forum.

Don't want to alarm you, but it's a 6 issue mini

Nooooooooooo!!!! Then why give us a seperate forum if not planning for more? The show is in it's 3rd season and isn't it renewed already for season 4? This isn't like the A-Team comics where the movie tanked so lets just forget about doing more. This show is popular. I want an ongoing. Crying or Very sad

Doesn't mean there won't be a follow up mini.

Jurassic Park is a mini and they're just announced a follow up for 2011

Check out the link below, there's some True Blood stuff in there

I just started watching the show last week and I borrowed the dvd's from my girlfriend. I'm almost halfway through season 2 and I'm really enjoying it. I grabbed the first issue of the comic, I was hoping it would be an ongoing series too... Sad

Well, on second thought, I honestly think that it might be hard to maintain a monthly series and have it be an "official" part of the canon without contradicting something that comes later. You can set your stories between seasons, but you can't really develope the relationships between characters. You have to let the tv series do that. You can't have Sookie and Eric or say Sam "hook up" unless the series does.
I have never read the novels so I do not know how close the tv show follows that. If this is meant to be a part of the tv show canon then I guess I can understand limiting the output of issues. Does not mean I have to like it however. Very Happy I will be here as long as IDW publishes them and can maintain the $3.99 price point on the books. Anymore in price and I can't and won't support the hobby. Not when I can get paperback novels for $7.99 and hours of reading time. That however is best left for another topic.

I gave up on video games purely for that reason. I couldn't justify paying £40 ($62) for something that I might only play once and never look at again.

The comic seems to be doing really well. If they are sold out on that many copies. Plus at comic con there was a big panel with the comic apart of it. The comic itself has caught everyone's attention with the actual people who are behind the HBO television series at the helm with its creation. I mean if there is that much attention going to the book I'm sure people would be demanding more storylines. I guess people are afraid that it's just like the Twilight saga. Allow me to clarify one thing, this series is not like Twilight. There is nothing only for teens about the television show at all. For those who come in here and lurk and see what True Blood is all about, it's not what you think it is. It's very dark, graphic, violent and has a lot of sexuality. Last season in season 2, there were orgies going on and devouring of human hearts. If you think it's like Twilight, it isn't. There are no happy endings in the world of True Blood. There is only a lot of pain and suffering and people and vampires along with shifters trying to find their place in the world.

I watched the first season when SPACE aired it, and I enjoyed it. That's why I'm picking this up when it hits TPB format.

This show is not for teens. With the whole Twilight garbage going around, it's basically a taint, unfortunately. The show is graphic and gory as hell. Not to mention sexually graphic. The violence is intense. Not only do you get vampires drinking blood, but you get people's hearts being ripped out, sex, more sex, more violence. Real vampires, you stake them in the heart and they explode in a shower of blood and gore. Not to mention interesting mythical creatures involved, werewolves, werepanthers, different type of shifter and regular shifters, they're different from werewolves and werepanthers there was even a Maenad. The fourth season is dealing with witches and spirits. The show is very popular. The characters are interesting, Sookie is one of those characters where all sorts of crazy shite happens to her and her only dilemma is, she reads people's minds. She's in love with a vampire Bill Compton, there's a vampire sheriff named Eric Northman who wants to use Sookie for her talent and wants to make her his. The show is unpredictable, anything can happen, any type of creature can make an appearance. The past three seasons were really good and were building up on one another. This new season is exciting as hell. Five more episodes left of this season.

True Blood is the most amazing television show I've seen in awhile. Don't let "Twilight" fool you. True Blood is the real deal. The writing is brilliant, grabbing from just about anything your mind has thought about but doesn't want to verbally tell the world - be it disgusting, raunchy, sexual, bloody, murderous...whatever. True Blood has it. I'll say it again, one of the best shows on television (or, to be technical, HBO television) today.

What do Twilight have to do with True Blood. I do not mean to be rude but what you write here is about like saying do not let Sesame Street fool you Godzilla have the real deal when it comes to monsters or do not let Wall-E fool you watch the Terminator. Sure both Twilight and True Blood have vampires, but so do allot of things and they are intended for completely different demographics. Why is the first thing people think about when they hear the word vampire now a days, oh but it is not like Twilight?

I have seen the Twilight movies, I have the books, I find them sort of entertaining at times but for the most part they are mediocre, why do people bring them up into every conversation about vampires?
